how do you make a passive jazz bass sound like if not better than an active mm bass?

hm... an active bass is usually has a passive pickup with an onboard preamp so... theoretically you can get any passive bass to match with an active with some form of preamp (plugin, pedal, etc) in the signal chain 💭
