It's funny how this video has only a couple hundred views and then suddenly argonian boobs have thousands. Anyways I'm impressed by the Ta'agra language project. As far as I know there is only one dude expanding Khuzdul from Tolkien's universe which is way more popular than Elder scrolls and they somehow have entire team working on a language for one of the less popular races in that universe.

1:35 - to the family maybe, but to other watchers: please remember that it is not a rule in all of them. Slavic languages pretty much disregard word order. Polish has no word order, whatever you use is technically correct, it may just sound strange for a native speaker, but it works within grammar rules.

I think tes 6 will take place in both hammerfall and a little bit of highrock aka the area of daggerfall. Aka red(redguards/hammerfall) and fall(dagerfall/maybe all of highrock). Also most of the time they end up changing the name in the end so maybe it wont even be called that and redfall is just a place holder name. But idk. We will see. That or it will be in hammerfall and then the first expansion/dlc will be in highrock. I also think this because it would be weird if the last tes game ever will be just in hammerfall. I would be disapointed if we never went back to classic medieval area of highrock. One last sepculation is the main game takes place in hammerfall except the main quest involves the tower on the island between hammerfall and highrock. Then they slowly start releasing expansions/dlcs until all of nirn(or at least tamriel) has been officially explored like in eso. I hope its the last one. That would be amazing!

You made a mistake, Be- is not the subject in the Romani sentence shown at 1:51. It’s the first two letters of the verb beshel (to sit). In fact the pronoun can be omitted in Romani, similar to Spanish, and Romani sentences can definitely start with a verb. Further, to sit is an intransitive verb so “in a little house” is not the object for “I sit”.

The Romani Language has his roots in the Region Of Sindh (Ancient India, today this region belongs to Pakistan) where the oldest known Gypsys are coming from. The folk of the Sinti people, they are still speaking the oldest version of this very Unique Language.

Despite the linguistic evidence, you can just look at the khajiit and tell they're Romani-coded. Nomadic lifestyle due to discrimination/segregation, clothing, spiritualism, and negative stereotypes painting both groups as liars, thieves, and overall vagrants. It's sometimes hard to determine Bethesda's intention behind coding the khajiit as Romani, because you'll have some characters defending the khajiit against harmful stereotypes (Ysolda for example), but on the other hand with the broken English, skooma dealing, and overall criminal activity, it's enough to instill doubt. Also, without judgement because a lot of people don't know this, but g*psy is a slur and it's generally accepted that gadje (non-Romani) are not allowed to say it. You may have a person pop up and say that they're not offended and that a gadjo can say it, but it is still a racial slur and is still used to oppress us to this day. Good video overall, though 👍

Not in movies or TV but the Khajiit (in skyrim specifically) ARE SO OBVIOUSLY based on romani people and the stereotypes that follow us. >Caravans not allowed in most cities due to the exact aame reasons Romani are stereotyped for > Linguistically extremely similar to the more common Roma dialects. Like their language is practically just. Romani. >Literally every single stereotype they follow is an excuse used to abuse and genocide us. Drug dealers, thieves, travelling merchants who are ousted from cities due to their 'criminal nature'. And before any Gadje say 'but you're the one assigning them to romani people' Bro. It isn't hard to assume that the travelling merchants whos home land is a pretty direct analog to India, who are stereotyped and displayed in classic anti-romani stereotypes, whos language DIRECTLY PARALLELS Romani language, is supposed to be analogous to romani people. I may be seperated from my Roma clan (My family integrated into England to survive WW2) but I have spent the whole time I've known educating, listening and fighting. Keep going with your videos!

i don't mean to butt in, but unfortunately "gypsy" is a romani slur. it's a really well-done video but the word being used so casually just kind of irks me. either way, well done! very informative.

It isn't a slur and even if it were, there's nothing wrong with that. Romani isn't the only gypsy group, and there's no other way to refer to these people other than gypsies. Besides, there have been worse ways to refer to these people throughout centuries

Thank you for your comment! I debated using the word Gypsy to describe it in the video, as I'm familiar with it being used as a derogatory term, but I decided it's not only a helpful way of identification (especially to non-Europeans unfamiliar with Romani), so long as I didn't keep it as the focus term. From what I could tell (mostly just youtube TED talks), the term Gypsy is used as a way to identify themselves in rare occasions, so that made me feel okay using it in the way I did. Hopefully it was minimal enough to not be distracting. I apologize if it was offensively irksome for you.

I think it depends HOW you use the word 'gypsy'.. he is using it descriptively not proscriptively so its fine

@@LeftoverPat In the TED talk you used a clip of, g*psy is used as an example of a negative term used to refer to Roma by those who discriminate against them. In the US it isn't always considered a slur as far as I've seen (that is, most Roma I've seen who aren't bothered by it are from the US). But in Europe, where Roma are much more discriminated against, it's not a word you want to say if you want to be an ally.

@@arnoarno1092 No, it´s not. The word "romani" indicates that gypsies came from Romania, which is incorrect and misleading. As the video already stated, most came from India. As for the "been oppressed for centuries" geez, I wonder why that is ? Perhaps because they can´t integrate into the societies they are now part of ? The stereotypes about them didn´t spring up out of nowhere, it has been gypsies observed behaviour that created these stereotypes.
