    You use ta + feminine word such as voiture, ta voiture, because we say la voiture (the car), and ton + masculine word, such as livre, ton livre, because we say le livre (the book).

  • @lingoniFRENCH

    @lingoniFRENCH

    If you use it before the noun as a demonstrative, then: "this book or that book" would both be translated by the ce livre indeed, cette, if it's feminine, and cet if it's masculine + noun starting with vowel: cet animal, for example. same thing with these those : CES is one single translation, no matter the gender of the noun that follows. ces fleurs, ces livres, ces enfants etc. However, if you say, I don't agree with this/ that. You can mark the difference in French: je ne suis pas d'accord avec ceci ou avec cela. This topic is worth a full lesson actually with more examples. But I hope that helped anyways. Thx for this useful question and sorry for my late reply.

    You would keep "cette": cette voiture, cette fille, cette maison : if you try to pronounce it, you can see that it's pretty easy and not as rough as : ce arbre or ce ordinateur, that we change in cet arbre, cet ordinateur, to make it easier. hope that helped.
