This episode shows most elements that NYTimes has been claiming as the copyrighted work that it acquired from Josh Wardle, including the guess grid with yellow for present and green for correct. Combine with the on-screen keyboard in the 1994 home game for Game Boy, and there isn't much left other than the extra row in the guess grid to compensate for lack of a given initial letter.

GSN uploaded this episode in the wake of a trending new online word game called WORDLE which is like LINGO, but without the LINGO balls. And Yes, the Chuck Woolery version of LINGO was the biggest GSN original ever before America Says!!!

The bonus round in Woolery's version is longer, requiring players to get 10 correct words in 2 minutes or less. Each player has 5 chances to guess the correct word.

Don't get me wrong I like both versions really but in two different senses like Chuck Woolery version in the bonus round you actually win by luck but in this version you actually win by using your brain

One of my favorite episodes and I remember the couple that was married 35 years!!! Very cute together. I just hope my wife and I are that cute when we have 35 years together.

It's being rebooted on CBS hosted by RuPaul. It's already been filmed, they just haven't announced an air date.

@@CoolJoshido212 some people, myself included, are not fans of Bill Engvall giving a pun laden clue to them before giving them the first letter… And they prefer to pull numbers out of a hopper instead of picking a ball off of a rack.

Glad they loss just for that and for getting the easiest clue for donut.. But the young couple blew the game. I wish them a healthy baby though.

There’s a British version of the show that’s is exactly like wordle with the lingo name

It might be because Wordle has made the strategy for this game a lot more obvious but holy heck these players are *bad*

I've just discover the English version of this game. In France the game is call MOTUS. It's fun because you have to pick-up a ball on the wall, while we puck up a ball on the table of the game. Your decor is more modern that us but our OST/Sound is better that your version. (It's my opinion) :)

NY Times, in their infinite wisdom, just paid a million dollars for Wordle; Lingo stripped down to a daily puzzle format. While we're all busy pointing and laughing at them, I'd like to note that GSN absolutely has the resources to sue the pants off of 'em. I don't speak much legalese, but it seems there's a case to make, here.

The fact that Wordle doesn't give you any letters to begin with is probably enough to not have a case. And the term LINGO is just a ripoff of BINGO anyway and refers to getting five in a row more than the word game itself
