@@jh8691 caught what? There's nothing to catch. He did it, and then just used a calculator to prove how close it is. You think someone who can do calculus can't figure out long division? 🙄

Desert island with no calculator Let me pull out my calculator
Thank you so much for the explanation, I have a final for calculus tomorrow and now that I understand this I'm feeling much more confident
Thank you! This helped me out a lot because I missed a day of class and was then a bit behind. This saved me a lot of mental pain and anguish.
Saved me a lot of continued confusion!

What function for f(x) would you be concerned about if you have e^sqr rt of x?
Great Video! Super explanation! Thanks a lot!

Hey you explained this perfectly, thank you, but I have a question... whatd the point of doing all of that when you could just evaluate the f(x)? You have to do it anyways with f(x0) (even if it is a smaller/larger number)
Thanks a lot!
Thanks for helping with my calc hw!

+BriTheMathGuy later this year I will make a blog in which one of the main topics will be STEM majors in college . Calc 1 seems pretty cool so far . sometimes its not so much the students fault but sometimes professors make the subject sound like a bland foreign language not worth exploring

+BriTheMathGuy look up the video called " Just a Rant : Math " because he was a tutor at Texas A&M and sounds like he knows his stuff . People should learn too is that math is a skill that can be learned and not so much as a innate talent as if only certain people can master it . Dyscalculia is a whole different story where your brain is extremely challenged when it comes to organizing numbers in their heads . Same with dysgraphia where some people are extremely challenged in writing with a writing utensil
@BriTheMathGuy

That is good advice! I'll have to check the video out. I haven't heard of dyscalculia but I'm sure it can be a major issue.
Thank you! My favourite part was how this is for desert islands with no calculators, and you still used a calculator XD
Awesome video thank you.

does the linear approximation formula come from the point slope formula?
Pretty cool even without a calculator you can approximate numbers like that!

you cant do 9-1/18 on calculator if you are on a desert island
Where the fuck do you get the square root of x from? I'm so confused :(
i dont get were the( -1 ) dissperd but not counting that i under stud eveything (im 12 lol)

Lol this was the question that ruined my calculus test. So small, yet so important.
4:20, wait you didn't have a calculator on the desert island right? xD
lol... when you don't want to use calculator earlier but use it later.. 🤣😂
It's funny to me that you started off saying "youre on an island without a calculator and the island people ask you what the square root of 80 is" then to find the answer you used a calculator
nice!
@BriTheMathGuy
2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Cheers!
So why is it that the derivative of constants is always just 0, but in this video you put the sqrt (80) derivative as 1/2x? whats the difference between the two
@solarr5143
4 жыл бұрын
Have you worked with things like finding tangent lines? It's like that, in order to find the linear approximation for sqrt of 80, you FIRST need to take the derivative of sqrt(x). THEN plug in your 81. Hope this helps.
1. I would never be on a dessert island. 2. There would not be dessert island people asking me to do this. 3. I would have my phone with me. 4. All of this, ALL of it is pointless. Everyone knows it.

its not the worst, just the explanation was hard to understand and he never told us what we should plug in for the 'a' and 'x' values and that why a = 81 rather the sqr root of 81
