I love him but that's an overstatement. They need two guitarists to replace him because he is playing on multiple tracks. When they tour they have to add at least one extra guitarist in the background to fill in those extra layers.

Lindsey Buckingham is one of the most skillful musicians of the century. For crying out loud, when he left Fleetwood Mac they had to get *TWO* guitarists to cover him live because no-one could do the job properly. Awesome talent.

@@dan44762000 Big love is very hard to play, his Travis picking sounds like 3 guitars at once and only skilled guitarists understand how good Buckingham was. Most casuals don't know who he is because he's not Eddie Van Halen or Jimi Hendrix.

Yes. But not once. Twice. After The Mask released they got Billy Burnette and Rick Vito to do the tour as Lindsey had slap had enough of Stevie's bull. After Tom Petty died Stevie convinced Mick to hire the Heartbreakers pickers. Again, Stevie ruins the fun.

He also wasn't warmed up, or mic'd or going through a board, didn't have a harmonizer as the song normally does. This is an *extremely* talented man and anyone who doesn't recognize it doesn't matter.

Take a look at the concert "The Dance" available on DvD. You'll discover how great he is playing his Instruments. In an Interview it was mentioned that when Lindsey left the band Fleetwood Mac was about to hire three different guitarist at the same time just play the part Lindsey played by himself

Anything as subjective as "Best Guitarists in the World" can't be considered as a litmus. I don't think his goal was to be a 'Van Halen" or "Jimmy Paige". He was more of a composer and less of a finger slammer. Still a highly appreciated and well-rewarded artist.

I would give Stevie Nicks my vote, and she wrote most of the songs for Fleetwood Mac, she got in 2 (two) Rock & Roll Hall of Fames, whereas Lindsey's albums separate of the band, did not do well. Freedom of speech & press USA copyrighted. Lindsey's good, no doubt, I like him, in 70's.

@@JohnSmith-hq6fl Lindsey is a far better and more accomplished guitarist than Kurt Cobain was, i agree with you there but Kurt was very creative. The genius behind his music was that he put together chord progressions that do not go together in musical theory but he made them work, besides he was not that bad, he just did not live long enough to reach his full potential and maturity as a guitarist. His style was simplistic yes, but he was creative.The nice thing about Kurt's music is that anyone picking up a guitar can learn his songs. It is how i started out as a teenager when i first picked up a guitar at age 14. All music does not have to be complicated.

Yep, saw them in July here in Belgium. They booted Lindsey a couple of weeks after I bought the tickets. Took two guys to fill in for him, a vocalist and a guitarist. Great show but not the same without him.

I have seen many great guitarists life in my time but when I went to Fleetwood Mac concert in Sheffield a few years back I was totally blown away by how good he is. One word ‘Amazing’. I spent most of the night just watching him play.

He has a musical talent that will always be legendary. They made something incredible over many years but this song is remarkable in the great work amassed. I love each of them individually and as a group. Stevie was mystical and Lindsey was pure raw energy Mick was so entranced wild energy and Christine was grace and silky vocals while providing essence and well that base line is just wow John solidly paving the way.

This is what a true natural talent sounds like. He is an amazing guitarist and singer, and guess what! he doesn't use auto tune, un-like most modern un-talented artists in the industry today do. Yes, unrequited love was a prevailing reality which inspired much of the great work of Fleetwood Mac. Lindsey's broken heart was something we all felt as he and Stevie worked through the challenges of relationship creatively and brilliantly in public view.

I love him but that's an overstatement. They need two guitarists to replace him because he is playing on multiple tracks. When they tour they have to add at least one extra guitarist in the background to fill in those extra layers.

Lindsey Buckingham is one of the most skillful musicians of the century. For crying out loud, when he left Fleetwood Mac they had to get *TWO* guitarists to cover him live because no-one could do the job properly. Awesome talent.

@@dan44762000 Big love is very hard to play, his Travis picking sounds like 3 guitars at once and only skilled guitarists understand how good Buckingham was. Most casuals don't know who he is because he's not Eddie Van Halen or Jimi Hendrix.

Yes. But not once. Twice. After The Mask released they got Billy Burnette and Rick Vito to do the tour as Lindsey had slap had enough of Stevie's bull. After Tom Petty died Stevie convinced Mick to hire the Heartbreakers pickers. Again, Stevie ruins the fun.

He also wasn't warmed up, or mic'd or going through a board, didn't have a harmonizer as the song normally does. This is an *extremely* talented man and anyone who doesn't recognize it doesn't matter.

Take a look at the concert "The Dance" available on DvD. You'll discover how great he is playing his Instruments. In an Interview it was mentioned that when Lindsey left the band Fleetwood Mac was about to hire three different guitarist at the same time just play the part Lindsey played by himself

Thus proving the point beyond doubt: if your song idea rocks on acoustic, it's a rocking song. A real musician can show a brilliant idea sitting in a chair in a studio with nothing more then a acoustic, a voice, and a ton of passion!!!

Anything as subjective as "Best Guitarists in the World" can't be considered as a litmus. I don't think his goal was to be a 'Van Halen" or "Jimmy Paige". He was more of a composer and less of a finger slammer. Still a highly appreciated and well-rewarded artist.

I would give Stevie Nicks my vote, and she wrote most of the songs for Fleetwood Mac, she got in 2 (two) Rock & Roll Hall of Fames, whereas Lindsey's albums separate of the band, did not do well. Freedom of speech & press USA copyrighted. Lindsey's good, no doubt, I like him, in 70's.

Stevie Nicks wrote & did the music for most Fleetwood Mac songs as well as her Stevie Nicks band, give credit where credit is due.
Big thank you to the guy at the BBC who chose the solo of the Chain to introduce the formula 1 coverage on tv. It's used now all over the world .
He was the band for me.....great, great guitarist.
Very underrated by Rolling Stone Magazine, in the list of 100 greatest guitarist, he is the number 100, At least 50 places down

@@JohnSmith-hq6fl Lindsey is a far better and more accomplished guitarist than Kurt Cobain was, i agree with you there but Kurt was very creative. The genius behind his music was that he put together chord progressions that do not go together in musical theory but he made them work, besides he was not that bad, he just did not live long enough to reach his full potential and maturity as a guitarist. His style was simplistic yes, but he was creative.The nice thing about Kurt's music is that anyone picking up a guitar can learn his songs. It is how i started out as a teenager when i first picked up a guitar at age 14. All music does not have to be complicated.
It's so great to be able to say that you grew up with this song and it's been part of your life for almost 40 years.

Yep, saw them in July here in Belgium. They booted Lindsey a couple of weeks after I bought the tickets. Took two guys to fill in for him, a vocalist and a guitarist. Great show but not the same without him.

Love Lindsay Buckingham. Legend. His extroadinary character comes through in his vocals and guitar playing. You can clearly hear his emotions.

To play the guitar without a pic and play it extremely well like that is a gift.
When you finally had the chance to “see” Fleetwood Mac and asked “where is the other guitar player?”, you then realized what a master guitarist Lindsay Buckingham is. So underrated is the man who can make one guitar sound like two.
I know he’s played this a thousand times but that was spot on!!!
This guy is a true talent and a legend. Wrote so many iconic songs. Fleetwood Mac are and always will be one of the finest. 🇬🇧🇺🇸🎸🎶

I have seen many great guitarists life in my time but when I went to Fleetwood Mac concert in Sheffield a few years back I was totally blown away by how good he is. One word ‘Amazing’. I spent most of the night just watching him play.
Don't know why, but I always imagine a banjo playing when I hear this beautiful song. His playing makes the hair stand up on the back of my neck! Amazing! So talented. Could run rings around a lot of others.

"genius" as a songwriter ? I wouldn't go that far. He plays beautiful melodic solos that come right from his guts. It's very exciting to hear - especially the solo on this song.

He has a musical talent that will always be legendary. They made something incredible over many years but this song is remarkable in the great work amassed. I love each of them individually and as a group. Stevie was mystical and Lindsey was pure raw energy Mick was so entranced wild energy and Christine was grace and silky vocals while providing essence and well that base line is just wow John solidly paving the way.

This is what a true natural talent sounds like. He is an amazing guitarist and singer, and guess what! he doesn't use auto tune, un-like most modern un-talented artists in the industry today do. This guy is the real deal and we need more musicians in this day and age to perform like this, no auto tune just all natural skill and talent.

Yes, unrequited love was a prevailing reality which inspired much of the great work of Fleetwood Mac. Lindsey's broken heart was something we all felt as he and Stevie worked through the challenges of relationship creatively and brilliantly in public view.
