For hydrogen fuelling stations, Linde has developed a 5-stage ionic compressor. The pistons of the machine move up and down hydraulically. On the top of the pistons there is the ionic liquid which is compressed through the compressor cylinder as a "liquid piston" together with the hydrogen. At the end of the compression process the ionic liquid is separated from the hydrogen by the separators and returned to circulation. This design results in less wear and tear as well as much higher energy efficiency thanks to optimized cooling and avoidance of parasitic volume during the compression process. Compared to a conventional piston compressor, energy savings is around 40%.

this IC90 creates compressor noise - 52-53 decibels at 50 feet. Not good in a residential area! Linde never fixed the issue too - they owned Linde Mountain View, sold it to Iwatani and never worked to reduce the noise.
Maybe they can make hydrogen gas storage conversions available in Australia for cars which are already on the road. It's pointless saying that to companies such as Holden because they suddenly decided it was too expensive to keep producing cars in Australia, let alone produce hydrogen fuel powered vehicles. They seemed to have ignored a person such as myself & they would wonder why I wouldn't buy an imported Commodore which is just an imported Opel Insignia. That car is a slap in the face for Aussie ingenuity as we have done better than that up until now.

1000 bar! wow. I thought a full 300 mile tank in the Toyota Murai was 70 bar.

70MPa (700 Bar), but we can also use a nozzle with 35MPa (350 Bar) to refuel Mirai it is not a problem

The Toyota has two 700 bar Hydrogen tanks, they are not 70bar. Personally, I wouldn’t chose to sit myself or my family on top of a cylinder of Hydrogen, in fact any gas, pressurised to those sorts or pressures.

@@Desfaqhunter will that not reduce the car’s range? Also, 350bars is still around 150bars more than a standard SCUBA cylinder. That’s a no thanks from me. 😳

@@stevengrindrod2002 hydrogen is the lightest known gas. If there is a leakage it will fire just opposite to gravity force. Also for me completely no no is to sit on few accumulators that can burn for 3 days straight with no option to choke the fire, like Tesla's cars
Hi, i know that for fuel cell application the hydrogen must be oil free at 99.9999% . But in your compressor the oil is used to move all the piston, and it is in contatct with the cylinder liner. So , even if there are the piston seal , some oil is going into the compression chamber ( because doesn't exist any seal in the world that can guarantee that the oil is removed from the liner at the 100%). So how can the compressor can be consider oil free since there is oil into the compression chamber? Or is the oil removed in the final separator, but also in this case cannot be considered an oil free ?

As long as pressure is higher on the H2 side, oil will not go into the gas chamber.

I prefer a future with power coming without stations that include extremely flammable product or anything that comes anywhere close to the sentence 1000 Bar, certainly not the mix of them. This is for a near perfect world and a consumer base of competent creatures, neither of these exist here on earth.

If the tank is broken the gas will come out with the F directed in opposite to gravity. Because Hydrogen is the lightest known gas in the world. It will be a thin stream of hydrogen with high pressure. If there would be an ignition, the fire will not be as much dangerous that well known petrol. See for results on youtube, it is funny when they compare petrol ignition and hydrogen ignition from a broken tank.
why they use cylinder tanks instead spherical tanks? You can store 50% more hydrogen for the same tank surface with a spherical tank. If we remplace 6 cylinder tanks, with the same surface we can have 6 spherical tanks or 1 big spherical tank which it would store a 450% more hydrogen for the same cost.

Space constrain, how many spherical tank can you place in the high pressure storage tank enclosure?

Another reason would be the production of those tanks. It’s quite more of a challenge to machine a sphere cost effectively, than cylinders which are basically rolled sheet metal.

Filling station only, without H2-generation unit is 1.0 - 1.5 Mio €. Electrolyzers is another 0.5 - 1.5 Mio € per MW power. To fill up 20 cars per hour, you will need a 5 MW electrolyzer and 2 filling stations, which is 3.5 - 9.0 Mio €.

@@guyslack5024 Hi, I just calculated the cost per L of H2 for distributers at a 5 year return of investment as low as CAD$0.28 per L. That justifies any kind of investment. I am a 30 year-experience mech. engineer. I have some ideas.
Hydrogen is cooled to -40C in cold ***** exchanger. I can't hear what kind of exchanger?

Sounds like "cold field heat exchanger" field/filled is a toss up. "Cold field/filled" sounds like a proprietary name either way, not a common phrase.

I think it would be better to turn the hydrogen into a gas so the car could fly rather then roll down the road. No tires to replace, no roads to maintain, much more space for transit, lift is provided in a quiet and sustainable way... Hydrogen gas is the fuel of transport in the past and it will be once again in the future. It's ability to provide lift is unparalelled by any other gas. With modern materials, manufacturing processes and safety regulations there does not need to be another hindenburg.
