Lincoln Town Car Water Leak on Rear Floor | How to Guide

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

In this video I show how to fix the leaking windshield cowl on a Lincoln Town Car. The car in this video is my 2004 Lincoln Town Car Ultimate and although I don't have any signs of water leaking on the floor of the interior, I wanted to complete this fix as preventative maintenance.
Lincoln Town Cars have an issue where water leaks into the car by the front plastic cowl. If anytime it rains the floor of your Lincoln Town Car gets wet, chances are this is the reason why!
Join me on this video where I give a step by step guide on How to fix a water leak in the cabin of a Lincoln Town Car. I used Anthony's video from ‪@specialtymotorcars‬ as a guide on how to fix this water leak. I will link his video below.

Just picked up a 07 with about 124k on it! It had a small pond in the rear passenger seat. The guy I got it from didn’t have no clue where it was coming from. I’ll be fixing this problem tomorrow. Thanks

Great tutorial Nick! I did my 03 Cartier TC when I got it a few years ago. We were just blessed to pick up our second one this weekend. It’s an 03 Executive series TC with 75k miles on it. This is one of the only things that needs to be done to it. When I saw the carpet back there being a TC owner I immediately knew what it was and how easy it is to fix! We have 2 now!! 😂

I had the same issue on my '96. It would just soak the passenger-side footwell. I had the same issue on the driver's side. It turned out to be a clogged drain. GREAT VIDEO!

Thanks so much for this DIY Video Nick, it was great. Yes I have seen Anthony's video also. When I bought my Town Car from Anthony I asked him if the Cowell had been done and he said Yes, so I trust him and wont do it again unless I actually do start getting leaks. However, I was thinking of checking it though so maybe I will just to be 100 Percent sure. Thanks Nick. Have good weekend... !!!!

What happens if you have to replace the blower motor below it? The sealer will make that impossible now.

I don’t believe so but there’s always a possibility. I’ve heard of these cars having water behind the drivers seat and it ended up being something to do with the firewall on the car. Almost like there was a water coming in through a spot in the firewall behind/underneath the steering column of the vehicle

Its coming from the hood opening latch where the cable routes through firewall, but after i sealed that, i know get water leaking into rear again but front is dry. Might just have to pull the carpet and find exactly where its comjng from. Could be rear door seal, trunk seal, or maybe one of the bolts where the seat mounts up to could be leaking through, but seeing as it doesnt happen ehen car is driving rather ehen it sits in the rain, i doubt it.

Panther platforms are some of the most reliable cars you can find. There are some unreliable American cars (and Japanese) of course, but calling out these Panther platforms is just barking up the wrong tree. Some Japanese cars are reliable, some American cars are reliable. There's lemons of models and rough patches of production years from probably every car manufacturer out there, including Lexus and Toyota.

You mean like Toyota truck frames being recalled for breaking in half or the Takata airbag fiasco, affecting 65 million vehicles, including most Honda vehicles? The Lincoln Town Car, which is built on the legendary Panther chassis, and using the ultra reliable 4.6 liter V8, is one of the most reliable cars in existence. Police departments used and abused this platform for decades, and when they finished with them, the cab companies used them some more, and most are still on the road. Livery services still use the Town Car, years after it was discontinued. A simple worn rubber HVAC seal is a simple maintenance item, unlike a Jatco transmission in a Nissan failing, or power window switches in 6.5 million Toyotas that could catch fire...

When it comes to panther platform that is not really true. No car is perfect. This is just a minor issue compared to other things.

I fixed this issue on my 05, and now i have water puddling up on my driver side passenger. I fixed that leak, was coming from the hood latch cable area where the cable routes through the firewall. Now im getting a leak to my rear again, but not from where it was coming in before. And theres no good indication of where the fuck its coming from bc its only in back driver side. When it leaked there originally it was due to the cable shit leaking, but since i fixed that the driver foot well doesnt get wet, just the rear.
