You do not need to mess with the center nut on the top of the strut to rotate it, that is what keeps the coil spring from exploding off and hurting or killing you. DO NOT MESS WITH THE CENTER NUT, unless you have the coil springs locked in place and have experience doing it or someone with experience helping you. PLEASE STAY SAFE.

I bought a 2003 Navigator with 50,000 miles in 2011 and I bought a $3000 Ford 3 year 36000 mile bumper to bumper warranty with a $50 deductible. About 10,000 miles later the entire suspension and compressor had to be replaced. I paid $50 for a $2400 dealer cost replacement of the entire suspension system. NO LIE, I had another $12500.00 in Warranty work done in the next two years. My engine failed and my Transmission failed, along with a few other expensive items. It cost me out of pocket another $200 in warranty deductibles. On 10/2014 my warranty expired, I no problems until 2018 when the air suspension failed again. My local mechanic said it will run $2400 to fix the air suspension or $1100 to replace it with Strut Master Struts and Springs. I chose to replace it with the Strut Master Struts and Springs. The air suspension ride is better, but the new springs and struts are very close. When driving up parking lot ramps, and going over speed bumps, my Navigator rocks back and forth more now than when I had the Air Suspension. When on roads and Freeways there is almost no difference. After the suspension replacement, most of my front end steering components were wore out. I had the whole front end repaired, $1000. I just had the Air Con fixed $1200. It is 2021 and I only have 40,000 mile on my newer Engine and Transmission and 10,000 miles on the suspension and front end. In theory I should have a sound mechanical 2003 Navigator. I'm I going to sell it, NOWAY, its only worth about $1500. It's a Great Tool, I haul around my family and friends and a whole lot of Cargo over the years. If you buy a used vehicle, by a Manufacturers Extended Warranty only , never buy a after market Auto Warranty. It's fine to replace your air suspension with Struts and Springs, less headaches and worry.

Your explanation is awesome; this is interesting. I'm going to get me a navigator 2003 this weekend ans I'm checking reviews came your video just in case I need to do it on my own. I can do a few things in my own like check oil, put oil, change my tires that are 22's. So I'm a hands on young lady. Your instructions are so clear after a few watch I can definitely do this. Great job Sir and keep safe.

I am glad you made this video. I want all people who own a Lincoln all are not the same. I have a 2006 Gator Limited and it is not short like this one. I have. had more problems knowing mine is so different. The 06 is the last Gator to have an on and off switch for the suspension. Keep this in mind. I am happy about the rear 30mm bolt and not needing a wrench. I was about to go crazy over finding one where I live, they have tractors but nothing over 22mm lol what!!

I did this to my 04 navigator about 3 years ago. Had air suspension worked fine. Lowered it using a 2 inch drop kit that is nade for 03-06 expedition. Changed it after 6 months since it would bottom out with 7 passengers. Switched over to arnott suspension plus a 3 inch spacer lift made for the expedition.. it rode good for about 3 months until the ride height took out my upper control arms. Then I sold my navigator and got a 2012 fusion

The previous owner of my 2012 Lincoln Navigator L was sick of the issues and failures of the air suspension system and chose to perform the conversion to coil springs and eliminate the air ride system and compressor. I have driven two identical vehicles, one with the air-ride system and mine with the coil spring conversion and I see no performance or ride difference. The only issue remaining, is that the computer dash display still displays "Check Air Suspension System" every time the vehicle is started and the computer performs the vehicle's health check. It's just a small annoyance to press the dash "Reset Button" to clear the message each time the vehicle is started, but it would be nice if I didn't have to do that. Do you know how to prevent the "message' from displaying after the conversion has been performed. I suspect the message may be triggered by the electro-mechanical ride sensor switches that are normally attached to the air springs. I haven't yet checked to see if the sensors are still on the vehicle or what position they are in.

Hi, my 2005 Navigator rear suspension is sagged too now, and contemplating of replacing it with coil. How was the ride and if you manage to erase the icon on the dash?

Press the switch in the back to the off position and that will turn off the suspension, but then you will have a “suspension off” warning on the dashboard... it will always stay there, every time you turn on the car you will have to press the button on the dashboard to make the message go away.....

Nice video. I changed my air to springs on my 2003 Lincoln Navigator years ago. In which I had some trouble since then. Maybe you have a solution. I had to change my springs twice tear and wear from a heavy engine too. My troubles: 1 suspension switch off every day in my dash. Hitting reset every day to cancel display. 2. Parking assist works on and off since I went to springs. In your video you did not connect the electrical back to the suspension air solenoid control valve. In mine It gave me a trouble code. So I connected and zip tied to chassis that fixed my trouble code. Comments: I think my parking reverse assist works with also the air ride high sensor (elevation sensor)not sure yet? Which is connected to the upper control arm. Gonna test that soon. Any comments or fixes please comment. Thanks.

The display will always show “air suspension off” and like you mention you have to hit reset every time and that solves it. The parking sensors are independent from the suspension I’m It sure why they are giving you issues, I think you have a independent issue there. Also what do you mean by connecting back the electrical? Cables where connected to air shocks once removed there’s no where to connect anymore just zip tie them to chasis

In my 2003 It gave me a code then. Found that the air solenoid need it to be hook up to the electrical pig tails. Which is the connector to the unit next to the air line. This kind of white unit called air solenoid which is removable. It was my trouble air suspension code at switch rear ON. After reconnecting and zip tied to chassis fixed the error code in my dash, but kept the air pump running. If off I think the solenoid think doesn't matter haven't try. Idea not yet tested!! I think if the power itself to the air pump removed with the rear switch ON and solenoids connected. It might keep the system on and prevent displaying in dash the message [suspension switch off] and air pump from working. I haven't try that yet. From the fuse box nothing work for disabling the message. I left my solenoids zip tied and been with message since then.

@@CHUY90247 I went and got another module. In which the same thing happens.. I believe is already pre-programmed module setting in height and perimeter. I tried to find a way to reset those settings unsuccessful. I believe is my vehicle height from the ground level. My 22" Higher than my older 17" or 18" Rim & Tires lower to the ground. I just left it that way for now. My air suspension in the past had the same issue then and now with the springs.
