LYRICS
well if there’s one thing that i’m sure of, it’s that i think too much about shit that doesn’t matter, and i don’t think enough about things that makes a difference, but would that even make a difference? doing anything at all would be overkill. you left some holes in the plotline. i left some holes in your clothes, and we can argue semantics over who left who first, but one thing’s for sure: i needed you most. i’m not good at very much, but i’ve got just a few exceptional skills that i doubt anyone could hold a candle to. for instance: i can go three months or more without ever being sure of anything, and i can transcend my existence with thoughts and words, and when i say transcend i mean demean. nothing says i miss you quite like “i’m running out of time.” nothing says i hate you now like getting sweat stains on a knife. i am killing time with a razor blade. it is begging for its life

I dunno, excuse me while I vent for a second here. This song reminds me of my emotionally abusive mother that I used to live with. One day when I was in seventh grade she picked me up from school in her busted up car and told me that she was going to leave the state to go off to get recognized by a record label, to become famous. I told her that I was tired of living with a manipulative caretaker and that I wanted to move in with my father. I did, but my mother never left, she wrote a few songs, but never tried to get anywhere. She would often text me and guilt trip me saying shit like, "You're just going to leave your loving mother behind? I need childsupport from your father, but now I can't get it and Im sitting alone in our apartment with the electric cut off. I wish you cared." The verbal and emotional abuse my mother put me through, calling me useless, screaming at me inches away from my face, pacing the apartment wielding a metal baseball bat, threatening to commit suicide right in front of me because I was a mistake. It has all caused me to have extreme social anxiety, and communication issues. However, I have gotten away from my mother and I am currently seeing a councilor. I've been told that my mother has narcissistic bipolar personality disorder. I'm hoping to reunite with my mother some day and try to make a healthy relationship with her. Oof if you read that, thank you, it means a lot to me.

Man, I know how you feel. I despise my mother to her very being, she called me a useless bitch more than once and said she wished I wasn't born, but I'm not the one who was dumb enough not to use a condom.

pizza roll you just basically described my mother she threatened to commit suicide many times all my childhood memories are of carrying her to bed after she drank herself pissed drunk using my disability payments and everytime I tried to talk to her about it when sober she "said leave me alone and stay in your room when I'm drunk " which I did but then she refused to let me sleep until she blackout and I could sleep and because she was over 50 no one believed me and she got me arrested twice for her self inflicted bruises Sorry for the rant but I feel you man
Please keep doing this please we are still here and we still love this

Holy fuck, DUDE, you’re one of the most underrated dudes in the whole history of the universe wtf
Hello! I am going on tour in November with Hope Waidley. Full band sets, new songs, old songs, please come it’ll probably be fun somewhat I hope. Link is here thank you all www.songkick.com/artists/544705-lincoln
When I say that you’re now my favorite singer, I’m not exaggerating
what this song reminds me of- either a break up or losing friends. i ended up waiting twenty minutes outside my friends house (they are twins) to find out they weren't there. when i walked late into school they where hanging out with there group. they went silent when i passed except for one of the twins saying "hi" to me. on tuesday, i didn't wait for them. i just left. i saw the twins in the hallway and that same twin just said "hi " again. the next 3 days i was on a trip. i didn't tell them. i kept texting my friend that hung out with them to see if they asked about me, and i guessed they didn't. it hurts, because i thought we could have been really good friends. but hey, that's highschool. when he says "i needed you most"it reminds me of this because i needed them, as they helped me away from my depression.
So this is just an idea, but I have come to the obvious conclusion that this is a break up song and feeling depressed afterwards (to be simply summed up, that is. ) I'm probably just over thinking about this, but the lyrics "you left some holes in the plotline" means that when however he was dating messed him up so emotionally that it made him possibly question what his purpose here was. And also, the part of the chorus where he's talking about how he left a hole in whoever's clothes is sorta significant to me. Think about it, while else would we wear clothes if we didn't want to hide something personal from other people's eyes? So if that's the case, then that little line might serve as a metaphor for how he wasn't just the victim, and how he had also played a role in breaking or hurting them emotionally. As for the beginning of the song, it sounds like he's dwelling on the past, and thinking about things that aren't relevant to what's happening in his life now. But in the ending part of the song, it seems as though that even though this break up happened a long time ago, it still affects him, and it still hurts to think about to the point of where he might slightly going back to his old ways of feeling suicidal. I honestly don't know why I just wrote all of that. I just really love this song I guess.
