Lincoln 3350 4C Welding Helmet Review

Read the review here: www.weldingempire.com/lincoln...
This is a hands-on welding helmet review of the Lincoln 3350 4C by a professional pipe welder.
The Lincoln 3350 4C is the second generation of the 3350 welding hood.
Lincoln designed new headgear for better comfort and fitted the external grind button to make the welding helmet even better than its predecessor.
The 3350 4C has the latest technology from Lincoln where they introduced the 4C Lens. Giving the welder a perfect view arc and weld pool.

I've been looking at the Lincoln 3350 with the new grind mode button but after watching your footage of the Miller Digital Infinity it looks like a clearer view and more color. I'm a hobbyist doing mostly stick and some flux cored mig. Perhaps someday I'll get to play with Tig as the machines are getting ridiculously cheap. Any issues wearing a 3m welding respirator under either? If you could only have one for all processes which would you go with?

Hi CTSCAPET, sorry for the late reply. Both helmets fit the 3M welding respirator . I find myself using the Miller more than the Lincoln. The helmet has a broader range of colors and the light stat makes it easier to see with the hood down. I have written reviews on both on my website with a bit more info and photos how the helmets sit with a respirator. But the external grind button does save a lot of time, so it will depend on what you are looking for. In a dusty shop the Lincoln will be better as the front cover lens has a rubber seal to keep dust of the filter. I noticed a build up on the miller after a few weeks of use. www.weldingempire.com/lincoln-viking-3350-review/ www.weldingempire.com/miller-digital-infinity-review/

the new headgear is a big improvement over the previous gen headgear. i can wear it all day without getting a headache and the pressure is spread out evenly. the last gen was clunky and had pressure points, mostly at the back and front. it would give me headaches, it was like having your skull in a vice. i also had to use a sheep skin/wool band on the front for extra cushion to make it bearable to wear, but with the new one i haven't had to change anything, it's perfectly comfortable in stock configuration.

I've been welding for over 50 years, and I find it difficult to accept reviews. Most common mistakes tend to be because no one reads the instructions, then they moan and whinge. In my time, when the Gold coated lenses came in, that was the best! The first auto helmet, I had was a Speedglass and now have 3 of them. As you get older, you get used to lighter shades, as I TIG mostly and amps range from 40 to 200, I use shade 8, and I change to a shade 10. Recently, my eyesight has gone down, I wear multifocal lenses and have tried cheater lenses at 3.0X. I found a Lincoln 3350 at the pawn store and took it home, I tried it out and honestly, this thing is the very best! There isn't a thing to complain about.

Thanks Eric, don't worry mate. I also have a much lighter shade these days. I honestly think it takes longer for the old timers ( years welding 🤣) to adjust from hood time to flipping it up to feather the stop starts or what have you. Thank you for taking the time to write a detailed comment.

Nice review. I just ordered 1 today to try. I was looking at the Optrel or Speedglas so we'll see. They were both $400 plus, and this was $255 +tax if i hate it it'll turn into a back up.. lol

Both excellent helmets, Lincoln does better in dusty environments. The rubber seal protects the auto darkening lens from getting dust on in between the two. Thanks again for checking out my channel. 👍

this is a tuff decision, I have watched your reviews and external linked articles on both the Viking and Infinity. features I like in the Viking simple çontrols, 1battery, rubber dust shield between outer plate and auto dark unit, and flat outer plate ( same size as old school helmet Jackson Shadow). I only Do MIG welding, still I wonder why you use the Miller more, maybe the Miller is better for Tig? Yesterday I welded with a 20 year old Jackson Shadow Professional, than a 3 year old $100 dollar special helmet. The old Jackson was not bad, the $100 special was better. Viking or Infinity for MIG?

  • @weldingempire

Hi Dan D, thanks for the question. I have used both helmets in a workshop environment and I think the Viking is my choice. Purely for the fact of the dust seal. After a few years of cleaning the auto darkening filter it may get a few fine scratches on the Miller. Slightly lighter and an awesome head gear. I do know the Viking can get off branded cover lens to keep the price down too. Hope that helps.

@@weldingempire thanks for the reply. I think the lens seal is going to be a deal breaker on the Infinity. Every time I weld with my $100dollar special it has no seal and I have to clean the smoke off the actual auto dark unit. At this point the Viking & Miller Digital Elite have a seal although the Elite is smaller in viewing area than a Viking.

I would choose the Lincoln for Ali. It has a rubber gasket that goes around the outside cover lens. The Miller and the A50 get dust on the filter. Plus the Miller doesn't have an external grind button. All are great hoods and anyone you choose will be a solid choice.

Yo... so question... I have this helmet and been using for a week now... I do mig and I work in a shop.. when I weld... I see my reflection and the lights from inside the welding hood (from the inside lense) but ofc when I’m in a tight area where there’s no light.. I’m good... my old Hobart auto arc helmet never had this issue and that was a cheap helmet ... am I doing something wrong? How can I fix this? Am I the only one? Any tips/recommendations will be helpful

  • @weldingempire

Hey, cheers for the question. With all my welding helmets, I usually tape a piece of leather over the top. This prevents any sparks hitting your head or the light coming through the back of the helmet. I also have some at the chin to prevent my neck getting burnt by the arc rays.
