Every normal person is ashamed to be associated with the ANC except for those who are benefitting or stand to benefit. Nothing great about that party anymore, to quote any accomplishments they have to go to Mandela and the likes. Those that are left are stomach politicking

@Bafama Mshengu What exactly did Mandela achieve? He was out negotiated at CODESA. When the ANC came to power they found that Treasuary was empty. The Apartheid regime had left a debt of $25 BILLION; they siphoned the money to Swiss accounts, wrote golden pensions for themselves and left a debt incurred to buy Arms to fight anti-apartheid activists both inside and outside South Africa. Even worse, he agreed to the toothless TRC that failed to obtain justice for the oppressed, and left freedom fighters to be classified as terrorists and criminals! The oppressed were judged on the same merit as the oppressors . In order to re establish the country's credit worthiness, the ANC opted to implement GEAR a neo-liberal economic policy which focused on paying off the debt, to the exclusion of development. As a result job creation and infrastructure development (housing, energy, education) were out on hold. Tata negotiated kak, he failed to ensure that South African students could access university education (meantime his grandchildren received funding to study in the USA), he got rid of all the trade schools, the West refused to write off the debt incurred to buy arms to oppress anti-apartheid activists, the west also refused to invest in South Africa, Tata had to crawl to the States to beg white South Africans to come back to South Africa.Instead of working to build Black corporations, they agreed to the BEE mess, where only a few benefitted. When the Boers came to power they didn't ingratiate themselves on the British, instead they created their own economic power base by building their own companies; Banks, Insurance etc. Meantime Black folk were bamboozled with daft BEE deals, where they were used to generate business but we're never granted a seat at the table. On a personal basis, when he left prison he found they had put R44 million in his account, they bought him a house in Houghton, Steyn built him a house in the Shambala game reserve, they paid for his children and grandchildrens fees, as well as weddings and birthday parties. Quiet as it's kept, the rot began with Tata! So Mandela did what exactly? The last great thing he achieved was back in 1960 when he formed uMkhonto we Sizwe. After that he was captured, it was downhill all the way. The only Mandela worth mentioning is Mam Winnie Mandela.

@@lekis5975 Great inputs, a captured Mandela was further weakened by the presence of the likes of Ramaphosa next to him. Truth is, the ANC failed to groom 2nd layer leadership. The Whites knew if they eliminated Hani and Winnie, since Mandela was no longer a threat, they could achieve their objectives. After those leaders the ANC has been flooded with directionless individuals. Look at Terror Lekota, he went from being a struggle hero to crying for Boers on live television, a shame of the highest order. Well, my point was on the average citizen when they hear Mandela, they hear of a hero that cannot be faltered. Our grandparents still think they are thanking Mandela for voting for the ANC. To them, the ability to vote and the RDP houses in humiliatingly small yards is sufficient and guess what, the ANC uses that to it's advantage. What is of worry as well is the lack of black consciousness among the youth and that further at an advantage of the ANC
