Great vid! Thanks so much : ) This is a great reminder for information I every now and then have to remind myself
why did you choose a song which you can't even play to us ?? couldn't hear what that limiter was doing

This is really useful, thank you.
Very helpful video! Thank you :) what´s this about Spotify loudness values you mentioned at 6:26?
Hey Jon, Can you make a playlist of all ''mix tips' ?
A lot of talk, incomplete lesson.
Is it okay to use the out ceiling to balance the volume on certain groups, while not actually limiting all that much?
You could give feedback on the tracks that arrived at the end of the remix contest. You could show them why they did not stay in the top 5 and how we could improve It would help A LOT. Sorry for my English Thanks! Big fan
Thank you for your help!! It is great!! 😊
Great tutorial, good. Very detail=oriented I'd like to ask you; how to unbounce a song for additional mixing Thanks
sometimes on my drum buss for some punch NY compression style dial in just a bit into the subgroup
And I'm just using a simple limiter on my keys in this one song im working on, because they have a strong signal and it gives them a tamer sound, especially since they're being put through a reverb channel that rings out a bit
Jon what about eve's? You like them?
HI, Jon. My mix is getting there to be crispy and clear and well mixed, but now I experienced a loudness war. (I know that term is used often by most people). As a watched other tutorials, I want the goal to reach -10 dB of RMS level to get the song to be loud. But the question is, do I have to reach -10 or -8 dB range of headroom for my demo to be accepted? My hunch is that it has to do with the limiter. Furthermore, I don’t want to make it too loud or too quiet; I’m not good at mastering, and I don’t want to ruin my mixdown. Any ideas on what to do with the limiter and how to get it loud up to -10 RMS db? Thanks for the help! Cheers, Ivan.
Good video👍
I’m subscribed to this guy on two different channels lol he really that good at explain shit
Hey Jon is it fine if I send you a demo of a song I made but I don't know a vocalist so I just put in vocals from a remix contest
video starts at 1:27
So wait, you had the camera rolling when you back home?
Great tips.. How much Limiter at the end of the mix ?
I would recommend you check out the invisible limiter from a company called A.O.M Jon, would you be able to go a bit more in depth about limiting and using the right one depending on the music your working with?
Dear Sir, how do you do? I have an unclear point on Limiter ( Peak Stop). I need to know how can I adjust the Limiter in Standard way for live sound???, Is there any rule ?? That mean the amount of volume or decible??? Thanks
Good information in here, for sure. But audio examples would be great man. Like others said, using a song you can't play us isn't a great choice.
I like to use limiter on my sub bass to make it consistent. It is at the end of the chain and set so it is barely activated.

Use Multiband bro!!
Love Love Love from Nepal. Keep it jon. 2nd to comment Yeppie
do you use limiter on vocals ?
I tend to put a limiter on the master in ableton while producing . Never had this problem when I used logic. Anyone else?
what mic u use love???
I think the ceiling standard is -1db right now sometimes people tend to put little bit more with true peak limiters like 1.3 just make sure there is no clipping. Just a quick fix but ofcourse there is better way to control those dynamics

There’s no hard and fast rule, it's probably a good idea to gravitate to settings around -0.3 dB to -0.5 dB for mastering jobs that will include dithering down to 16 bits for CDs. For mastering jobs meant for digital download, which means creation of MP3s or AAC files, you might be best to leave the Ceiling a little lower, perhaps -1 dB or so. This will help avoid clipping when your audio is converted to these different codecs. Although, almost every studio nowadays sets their limiter ceiling to -0.1 dB.
how much db do you usually limit
first🙂🙂..Nice video man keep it up..
Cool video but which one would be best compression or limiter in a Dj mix?
@Jonsine
6 жыл бұрын
I would just get all songs to the same volume if your doing it with Ableton or logic and put a limiter on top and making sure the louder part doest clip or distort using the limiter as little as possible since the tracks are already mastered

Right now I am using Adobe Audition and I am using the limiter on the software. I have try to use the compression on the software but it is complicated to understand compression and to how it works. Thanks for your reply and ill check your video on compression.

this advice is actually brilliant, lots of tracks need more or less volume but never thought to edit them in logic! thank you
Thanks Jon, good video. I find *Xfer OTT* compressor really good to use on master bus, and individual tracks. Its free from Xfer and was part of Ableton.

Limiter its.100.:1 compressor why would u need such a squash to ur.mix.Well the lindell.audio 1176 has it and sounds nice but that's not brikwall..Clipping sometimes could be effective if the clipper its nice.Soft.limit.or.prism overkiller..
