while I love Nate's version of this song, and I was super hype to see him get it used as the actual dubbed OP, it feels more like an anime opening. The reason I absolutely adore this version is because it feels like more than that. The lyrics, the vocals, the guitar, everything comes together to feel like a celebration of all things Dragon Ball, and it gives me those warm fuzzy goosebumps every time.

I've been listening to this a lot recently as a personal anthem. This was actually what I was listening to when I got the news of Toriyama's passing. Rest in peace to him... Dragon Ball had and continues to have such a positive impact on my life. Goku was actually my childhood hero, and it was because of Dragon Ball that I started martial arts training, because I wanted to be able to protect the people I cared about. It also had the added bonus of improving my physical and mental health. Which certainly set me down a better path in life. Due to life circumstances, I actually had to put a pause on my training for several years. But today, I actually started back up on my training again... which makes Toriyama's passing hurt even more. Considering I might not even be here right now if he hadn't created the series. Or at the very least, my life would have been significantly worse.

The people who wrote the song knew what they were doing and actually used it correctly. Fenix however is saying that they got "No Satisfaction" as the phrasing is "I CAN'T get 'No Satisfaction'" while attempting to say they got satisfaction from the song. 'No Satisfaction' is the subject in this case, we can otherwise write it as 'a lack of satisfaction' So it can be written as "I can't get a lack of satisfaction". By saying they got some, they are cancelling out the "Can't" from the previous statement and saying "I get a lack of satisfaction.". Welcome to the English(American) language, it's a ball of fun.

Nate's is closer to the original. That's probably why they used his.

His voice just went over 9000 and EVEN further beyond!

The music for the english dub is so bad that by the tournament of power arc the show is literally unwatchable for me. Just imagine if they got Jonathan Young instead.

What about Ultra Instinct Theme 'Ka Ka Kachi Daze' (Apparently called 'Ultimate battle' in english)? That would be epic!

Depends. If a mechanical license was requested and approved for the cover to be sold in Japan, they'd at the very least have documents with his name on it, but depending on how they handle license approval (I'm not up on Japanese copyright law) it may have just been some fairly low level legal department worker who handles license approval who actually read and approved it, or a REALLY bored filing clerk putting away stacks of documents from a licensing service to be kept on file. Not anyone who'd be in any sort of position to say "hey hire this guy" Licensing is a tricksy hobbitses

I prefer Johnathan's vocals/instrumentals, but I like the non-literal translation of the official, song just flows better imo, doesn't sound like it went through a layer of translation since it was written for the english dub. If Johnathan did a cover of Nate's lyrics, it'd be the perfect OP for this arc, hands down. I'm a fan of both, in the end, but I gravitate towards the english dub more just cause it sounds better to my english-speaking ears.
