Yea when I saw Love, Rosie I didn't know she had an American accent. I knew her dad was Phil Collins so assumed that was her natural accent but maybe that what she would've sounded like if she hadn't tried so hard to change it as a child

@MikeP2510 British accent can mean anything. Welsh, Scottish, Northern Irish accents, etc. are all British accents. Lily Collins had a London accent, which is a South English accent. Britain is an island consisting of 3 countries. Scotland, Wales, and England

My first concert was the very same. When Brittany came out everyone was like who tf is is, and after that first song we were obsessed! My parents drove 8 teenage girls to go see *NSYNC in and their only rule was STAY TOGETHER… sure enough we spotted what we thought was their tour bus and all 8 of us took off running down the road after it… ahhh the teeny bopper years 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Omg.. yesss thats exactly how it's was for my family too. Lol my parents took us and my mom ended going off on her own to try get front row and leaving me my sisters with my dad 😆 And I remember me and my sister bugging my dad about brittany asking "who is she?? when is insync coming on?" So crazy how everyone else was thinking the same...oh and also when my mom was off on her own she saw Bruce Jenner with little Kendall and Kylie.

I can relate to this. I was bullied when I came at the age of 9 from Central America. I couldn’t speak, write nor read English & made it my mission to not have an accent. I would repeat everything/practice my sounds. My Spanish is still fluent & I am very proud of it. I now get a lot of comments that my English is so good.. they wouldn’t have thought It wasn’t my native language.

I think a missing part of language learning is the mimicry and performance/acting of it, which isn't a natural part of communication, but I think it's the only way to sound like a native speaker

I relate to her 😭 I always got teased for sounding English I had to condition myself to "sound more local"

I moved to the states from England at around the same age and yeah, that accent was gone in less than half a year. Kids are mean and at that age you desperately want to fit in.

I'm watching most movies with her the last 1-2 weeks and she's absolutely stunning :)

I was born in the UK and moved to the USA when I was 8, and the bullying was real. I got teased for "sounding funny and weird"....so I lost my native British accent, but never fully converted to a North American accent, and instead found a good in-between Trans-Atlantic accent.

Kelly was very smooth with the whole "Phil Collins is your dad". She mentioned it just enough to transition to another question. It's never easy to try and make your own name when you have a famous parent. Respect!

For Children it is soooo easy to learn new languages and accents, I'm not saying it cannot be overwhelming, cuz it can but fot other reasons, regarding their abilities it is literrally the best time of our lives to learn, so the fact that she can switch from one accent to another is amazing but doesn't surprise me.
