I'm surprised people are saying they don't like this choreography. I love it actually, I think it is very unusual and creative. It reminds me also of Elena Davydova's routine from the 1980s.

She also translated part of her floor to the balance bean: when she puts one foot forward. Now she's risen into greater prominence socially in her native country. Wonderful woman. Kathy Johnson and Bart Conner were the two, best commentators on gymnastics on American television. Wish they still were.

I actually preferred this choreography to Lilia's other floor exercises. It reminds me a bit of Davydova's 1980 floor exercise.

Thank you very much! This song has stuck in my mind since seeing this competition in 95!

This is a world debut floor routine for Podkopayeva and her double front half out. She's my favorite gymnast of all time, but she also just tumbles and dances SO well. Great video!

She is one of the best female front tumblers! It seems to be even easier for her than backward tumbling!

I know the song because I've actually played this song in the orchestra. I love it.

@skywindnight I think she was referring to the tumbling, maybe. Lilia had competed this music all year. European Cup in March of 1995 where Kathy commented as well, small comp at the end of 1994. These Worlds were in Oct. or Nov. of 1995. Maybe, this is what she meant. Not sure.

@ShawnVikaKomova2012 I was thinking that too.....I wasn't exactly enthralled by Lilipod's choreo in this one. Normally I love everything about her....but it's still incredible that she was able to put as much dance in as she did with 4 tumbling passes.

It's a variation of Hava Nagila, an old Hebrew folk song. Many, many gymnasts have used this music for their FX routines. One of my favorite routines to Hava Nagila was Lobaznyuk's 2000 Olympic FX. It's very entertaining.

No, it's not. Her 1994 routine was to Hava Nagila, but this is not Hava Nagila. This sounds like an Egyptian song.

I personally hate most front tumbling, but she does a double front better than just about anyone I've ever seen. Most "cowboy" their legs extremely, but she does the skill with ease.

I said Lilypod was heavy in her MOVEMENT, not her body. She's always been in stellar shape. She had the perfect body for gymnastics. As for her 96 routine being better, I totally disagree. But, it's a matter of preference.

@brookenicole222 Oh yeah, because we would always see her in the mix but never completing her routines enough to make it to the top, She became stronger and more solid after her win in 1995 and was destine for GOLD in 1996 which she did.

ram83160 (a great KZread user) had a ton of FX music on his website, but he's unfortunately had to close the site. You should send him a message and ask if he has a copy of Pod's FX music. He didn't when I downloaded a ton of stuff from his site, but he may have never had the chance to post Pod's music. Worth asking him about!

Kathy Johnson is wrong in saying that Lilia had performed this routine for some time now. It was a new routine for 1995. Her 1994 routine was Hava Nagila. And I believe she had even a different routine in 1993. Could Kathy have confused this '95 routine with her '94 one? She's usually an excellent commentator.

I disagree with you. This choreography is unusual, indeed, but it has expression and artistry.

  • @MissLilRedRooster

The choreography for this felt vaguely Boguinskaya-esque, which isn't bad despite being different and a bit unusual, but combined with the music, it really was not a good fit for Lilia. Felt too slow and dragging.

I'm kinda surprised at this routine from her. She's just so great at dance and usually makes every event look like ballet-no one points their toe as perfectly as she does, yet the dancing in this just didn't seem like what she usually does. And it just doesn't seem like there's much dance at all in this particular routine.

  • @Ondolady
    @Ondolady17 жыл бұрын

Actually I thought this routine was really poor, there was hardly any dance element and it all revolved around the tumbling. Her routine for 96 was ten times better and all her movements were a lot more cohesive. Yes she is slightly heavier than a lot of the gymnasts but she carries it very well. Oksana O. was super tiny.

Hmmm. Oksana was really light and bouncy. Lilia is a bit heavier in her movement probably because of her build. I still think this music was her best. Her music for 1996 was really shitty... biggest letdown for me as a fan.
