Watch behind the music lil wayne, the last song he ever wrote was carter 2. The rest were freestyles. There's videos of him recording songs and the process it took. He didnt just walk in the booth and one take it was done. He'd get stuck on a line and stop then walk around till he got something. Thats why he deserves a lot more respect. Back in 2007-2009 he literally murdered everything. EVERYTHING. you heard that lighter light on any song and knew you needed to pay attention lol

@josephmorley7965 Жыл бұрын
I slept on Wayne for years waiting for rap to sound like the NYC style of the 90's again and I missed mountains of gems from that industry. I thought Wayne and that newer wave was damaging the genre. Now I know he was keeping it alive. Whatever happens in the circus around the artist doesn't interest me. If they got heavy bars then I'm with it. People kept calling anything new mumble rap back then so I left it on the shelf. He's intelligent and nice with the wordplay. Can change his pitch and cadence and ride the beat effortlessly but one thing that lets the world know he's really a beast is the fact he doesn't need a notebook or a phone in front of him to remember written material. Some of it is memorized but a lot of it is just freestyling and weaving it all together. He can literally go in the booth and freestyle a whole album in one take. Gotta be top five all-time if not top three and I never thought I would say that. Catalog speaks for itself and its deep. Now guys like Lil baby and Lil Durk killing everything. Wayne put in crazy work to build the foundation and there's amazing content coming out of the hip hop machine right now. I threw out my sleeping pills.

I can’t believe I was only 13 when this dropped and didn’t fully understand what Wayne was sayin until I was grown oh my god this a classic 🙏🏽🐐🐐
Straight BARS! Only a few remember this. “When the gun goes pow I’ll be at the finish with my medal around my neck, autographs for my attendance”

You’re listening to the song and still misquoted it. 🤦🏽♂️ “with metal ‘round my neck - autograph on my tennis.” As in tennis shoes.
You just had to be there. The Goat.
I’m happy kendrick use this sample because it reaffirms that Wayne is for sure over him in the top mcs artist

“Your boyfriends softer than the carton the eggs 🥚 are in” 😂 lil Wayne An animal
Been coming before Kendrick but still this one the OG
This kame out when I was 19 I’m 36 now and it’s still 🔥🔥🔥
NOBODY RAPS LIKE THIS, you're listening but you are not hearing...

I remember why I loved Wayne so much. because he's top 5 of all time period. people just overlooked just how lyrical ASF Wayne really is fr.
