I wanna run away
Don’t wanna lie, I don’t want a life
Send me a gun
And I’ll see the sun
I’d rather run away
Don’t wanna lie, I don’t want a life
Send me a gun
And I’ll see the sun
You need an instant ease
From the life where you got plenty
Of every hurt and heartbreak
You just take it all to the face
I know that you want to cry
But it’s much more to life than dying
Over your past mistakes
And people who threw dirt on your name
Since ten, I been feeling lonely
Had friends but they was picking on me
Always thinking why my lips so big?
Was I too dark? Can they sense my fears?
These gay thoughts would always haunt me
I prayed God would take it from me
It’s hard for you when you’re fighting
And nobody knows it when you’re silent
I’d be by the phone
Stanning Nicki morning into dawn
Only place I felt like I belonged
Strangers make you feel so loved, you know?
And I’m happy by the way
That I made that jump, that leap of faith
I’m happy that it all worked out for me
Imma make my fans so proud of me, (ohhhh)
I wanna run away
Don’t wanna lie, I don’t want a life
Send me a gun
And I’ll see the sun
I’d rather run away
Don’t wanna lie, I don’t want a life
Send me a gun
And I’ll see the sun
You need an instant ease
From the life where you got plenty
Of every hurt and heartbreak
You just take it all to the face
I know that you want to cry
But it’s much more to life than dying
Over your past mistakes
And people who throw dirt on your name

The other day I happened to meet lil nas x who was visiting Tokyo. When I nervously approached him, he signed my LA cap and was equally kind to other fans. I am convinced that his songs have the power to transcend not only minorities and majorities, but also gender, race, nationality, and language barriers. I would like to continue to support him from here in Japan. Thanks for the other day, lil nas x! ❤️🔥❤️🔥 From a Japanese fan 🇯🇵❤

The video didn’t end with him finding someone to dance with. It didn’t end with people liking/hating him more. Everything stayed exactly the same, but he realized all he needs is himself to motivate himself. He is his own mentor, and that’s what makes this video so great.

Sexuality matter a lot, when God created human, he created a man and a woman, not a man and man, there's nothing like that. In any place you lay your comment in this world, make sure it's promoting the world. I don't support that, but I'm a big fan of his songs though.
"You need an instant ease from your life where you got plenty of everg hurt and heartbreak you just take it all to the face." That line makes me burst into tears everytime i hear it when I'm in my feels

I love that this talks not just about his inner struggle with his sexuality, but his struggle to accept himself fully, in order to truly love who he is. The part about him talking about his lips and dark skin hurt to hear. No one should be made to feel ashamed of their natural features. I’m glad you are fully embracing and loving the person you are inside Montero. It’s a message that should resonate to people all over the world. To love who we are through and through.

I fully subscribe to this comment, especially the part about his lips and skin. It didn't just hurt, it was heartbreaking. And while I'd say the ending is bittersweet - he's still dancing alone, though I feel like there is a hint that there could be a dance partner outside of the field of view - the song is still uplifting in its total message, and in its little moments.

I cried and Soo many people relate with this. I've heard several things about how you've struggled and felt like you were afraid of dying after you overcame suicidal thoughts....and this is everything to people who have struggled like you. Be proud of who you are and how you inspire others to create their own future, art, and self love. I love how you combat everything people tell you that you should be. I'm Soo proud of you! i'm late to this song but it definitely hit me right in the center of my childhood pain. Feeling othered by everyone but also desperately hiding and surviving; being wild to the point of self destruction because maybe you have a little bit of a death wish when part of you already feels like it's dying in the dark. I found my place in the sun and my chance to be the person I am, even when others didn't stand by that person.

Me to tbh cause I've been going throught so much shit lately.
I tear up every time I listen to this song. This song is not just about feeling different because you aren't straight but also about how you need to first accept yourself and then everything else takes place. I had trouble understanding who I was or why I am who I am and I think this song made me realise that it's okay to not fit in, it's okay to take time for yourself because I think in this busy world we forget to take care of ourselves. So if you are out there putting others first then no put yourself first, make yourself happy and only then will others be happy around you. Make sure you are the best version of yourself because that's who we all love❤
I literally cried when I heard this song. Even though I relate to non of the topics, I just feel the emotion that went into this song

This song really helps with the unfairness of life itself. I've attempted suicide 2 times but i couldn't bring myself to do it. And when I've found this song itself, it spoke to me, I'm currently re-learning how to love myself and going to high school next year. Thanks Nas, keep dropping emotional bangers

This song came out the day after my birthday. I had accepted that I was trans and pan, in the middle of a godawful, hateful, abusive family. This song single handedly saved my life. Now I'm on my way to begin HRT, have accepted my pansexuality, and have escaped from all the horrors of "home" to make my own. Just wanted to say thank you, Lil Nas X.
