Lil Jon Talks Famous Ad-Libs & Producing E-40’s “Tell Me When To Go” | For The Record
Музыка
Grammy-winning producer and artist Lil Jon is best-known for ushering crunk music into the mainstream during the early 2000s. After producing hits for artists like Usher, Pitbull, Ciara, and Ying Yang Twins, the Atlanta native remains relevant to this day. On the latest episode of ‘For The Record,’ Genius’ Head of Artist Relations Rob Markman recently sat down with Lil Jon to talk about his latest collaboration, “Ain’t No Tellin’,” with the late Mac Dre, as well as share the stories behind some of his biggest hits.

@@wes1hoskins I looked up interviews after I posted this. Seems Jon did them dirty. Basically broke the group up so he wouldnt have to split the money 3 ways. Did it right before a tour and offered them like 50k, when they were suppose to make 400k each from the tour.

He pioneered the turn up sound these new artists are thriving off of now. I'll never forget the impact he made on the culture in the 2000s. So many hits. In the South and West Coast. Legend.
Lil Jon deserves a better interview. The way this man formulated southern bass music is a story that needs to be told. From Still Crunk! to Turn Down for what. How he took elements from electric music, elements from Uncle Luke to make crunk? How he blended bass music and R&b? What did Freak Nik mean to him? Tour life during the Lil Jon & Eastside Boys days.

Yes he did use the Elements of 2 Live Crew, with the loud 808s and chorus with yelling. But Lil Jon also said the word Crunk and a lot of the chorus came from Memphis, notably three six mafia, Lil Jon just made it more club oriented.

Stories like Lil Jon is telling are probably non existent today. Now an artist just goes on KZread and types in "type beat" then they go forth. The producer and lyrist relationship is what created hip hop in the 1st place. Now it's all plug and play. That's why it really fwels like everyone no matter where they from uses the same "trap" beats and triplet flow. Lil Jon is legendary to an extent many people have no idea. He's been the cornerstone of hip hop for almost 20 years and he keeps making hits. This was an awesome interview.
