My heart broke for that little boy. I'm guessing he was so embarassed by his mother acting like that.

Lil James got hit with a plethora of emotions. He realized his mother wasn’t the woman he thought she was. He also realized how much his mother didn’t respect him. He was hurt because how much this man he can’t physically beat up is bullying him and it made him cry because he realized the image of his mom will never be the same in his mind, and a piece of her died right in front of him.

It’s deeper than that. What she did in front of him was a form of emotional abuse. Which was compounded by doing it in an environment that was so unsafe that his natural instinct to protect her and himself? Was mocked. The real tragedy here is that this is likely just the tip of the iceberg. If she’s willing to do that in public…in front of cameras? What on Earth do you think she’s doing behind closed doors?!?!

You guys produce incredibly truthful content in such a healthy, and respectful manner. I really appreciate the level of class you display and I wish more of our people gather here.

The absolute worst men I’ve ever encountered were son-husbands. A dangerous thing about the insidious nature of that dynamic is the mother tends to shield sons from any accountability and lets them run rampant. Coddling and then turning around and lashing out when the codependency is threatened. It’s disgusting.

All facts!!! When I was in the streets like that, I had an abundance of women from different levels in life chasing. I was unavailable emotionally, mentally, and more times than not, physically. When I “squared” up, and the chaos of living the street life dissipated, so did many of the women. The ones that were still around felt I was boring.

A lot of our black mothers didn't like us as boys! That reflects in our behavior and relationships with women as men!

Then go get therapy! Nobody makes excuses for women that were abused by their mother or their fathers! No one says, the poor mothers had bad mothers and fathers. You all just expect women to be great and endure your baggage! Stay out of relationships and get some therapy. At 30/ 40+ years old, your trauma is a choice to keep carrying around.

But I hope you put the same energy you did into that man into these young women who don’t know how to handle emotions , are narcissistic, can’t tell them anything wrong, everything is everyone else’s faults but their own.

@Whateverisback I agree with you, but there is a lot of nuance that's being overlooked. Is the father wrong for leaving? Does he want his son (children)? Is the mother denying custody and claiming she HAS to do it on her own? Psychological abuse or (conditioning) can take place over decades without anyone observing the bigger picture. Once ANY person claims they CAN raise a child or children on their own or at the absence of the other parent is the beginning of that child's (children's) long journey of dealing with trauma, drama, sadness and disappointment. Strong independent woman (mother) is a relative term not definitive, and is not synonymous with correct child rearing. That goes the same for men as well.

I was a son husband for my grandma. The women in my family have had trauma for the last 4 generations. My great grandma's momma died when she was younger no father my grandma's mom died when she was younger no father and was a single mother. My mother grew up without a father and a mother always working. Til this day from my great grandma to my sister they have a hard time getting along and don't speak to each other. I didn't know I was a son husband and was between generational trauma with the women. And me not having a dad and was a good man all the women latched onto me. I love my grandma, momma, and sisters very much I want us to be together as a community

Women trauma bond to the deadbeat dudes because those men make those women feel like they’re the “savior”. A project that if (in their minds) they succeed in building these men and achieve the rewards of appreciation, admiration, praise, loyalty and in the end provision/return on their investment. This would mean that all of their trauma, hardship and struggles would have meant something and earned their rewards. However reality often changes this outcome.

Wow brothers!! This was so powerful!! You will never see this in mainstream media! I got emotional from my own trauma and abuse. Everything was 1000% on poinf and said so eloquently. God bless you brothers you are doing powerful healing work!

And this is the issue a lot BM have and why these spaces have been made. We can never just focus on what BW have done wrong, its either our fault or "both sides". This video was about the Trauma black boys and men have at the hands of Black women yet you claim you heartbreaks while trying to shift the focus of the video.

My mom had me when she was 18,she was on drugs until she got pregnant with me and my dad made her stop. She chose drugs over being a mother and left me with my dad. I resented and hated her for most of my life. She died of breast cancer 10 years ago without me being able to ask her the questions I always wanted to ask her. My dad raised me from 6 months to his death when I was 21 years old. She had more children after me,and their lives are horrible to say the least. So I’m glad she gave me to my dad.

Excellent dialogue. While we can’t control the parents we are born with nor are we responsible for their poor behaviour. I do hope that the community can heal and not carry the traumas from our parents so that we can be better to the kids we have in the future. It becomes our responsibility to heal from our own traumas and be better where our parents fell short. It starts by having these open and honest conversations.

I can't understand how we got here where men are complaining about doing for women. I mean It's been that way since the beginning. Why change what's been working for centuries? My mom was a single parent with 6 kids and we were ok i did have dad issues which i had to internalize in myself. I convince evey girl i got pregnant to abort the fetus because i didn't want to be like my dad and not support my child. Women especially black women are attacked from all sides when we never talk about men having children all over the place and walk away from them. I truly believe that if men bore the brunt of child bearing we'd be extinct by now.

I'm I the only one who knows several son husbands but won't forward this video to them because that might end the friendships?

A real support group would be great for men. But they all need therapy to deal with their trauma. No one should expect their partner to jump through hoops to fix their childhood trauma. This is dangerous because the moment that person lets you down (because they're human and we all make mistakes), you'll retreat and shutdown. A person's healing starts from within. Many people mess up their lives and the lives of others. Trying to fix (or make up for) the past in their future.
