'Like A River' by Jahnavi Harrison - MUSIC VIDEO

Музыка

Like a River is the title track from the debut album of Jahnavi Harrison, 'Like a River to the Sea', released on July 24th 2015.
The track features a refrain from the Govinda Damodara Stotram by medieval saint-poet, Srila Bilvamangala Thakur and is a meditation on protecting sacred environments internally and externally.
The film features the landscape and people that live alongside the holy Yamuna River. After years of constant protest and petitioning, as of March 2015, the Indian Government has promised to make drastic changes to divert industrial waste and sewage, and restore the purity of the water. For more updates and info on the Save Yamuna campaign: saveyamuna.org/
LYRICS:
(refrain) Govinda! Damodara! Madhaveti! He Krishna! He Yadava! He Sakheti!
The well I drank from has run dry; the river bed has moved over years,
Now cell phones ring instead of bells; the sacred hill has almost disappeared.
Prayers and ashes at the river’s edge, drifting side by side;
sun rises over new hotels; sages close their eyes…
(chorus) My heart, flows like a river to the sea,
May it always be, may it always be
A river of grace flows through me,
May it always be, may it always be
Will I always be a stranger here, in the heart of sacred beauty?
You say this road can lead me home, so I’m following your footprints in the sand.
I see the chaos and the barren trees, maybe I am blind,
crowds of people falling to their knees, is this place divine?
--------------------------------------
I wrote these lyrics when I visited Vrindavan in 2006 after a 14 year gap. With my immature vision, I struggled to see past the pollution, traffic and commercialisation, to the untainted spiritual essence of the place.
We learn from great teachers that material eyes allow only limited vision - real sight is with spiritual eyes that are opened only by the guidance of a genuine guru. Though our vision may be clouded, we make progress by humbly following our teacher’s ‘footprints in the sand’.
The refrain ‘Govinda Damodara Madhaveti’ comes from an exquisite prayer called the Govinda Damodara Stotram, written by the blind saint-poet, Bilvamangala Thakur. Though his physical eyes were useless, he was blessed with spiritual vision to see his Lord during his final days in Vrindavan. The chorus alludes to the famous prayer of historic saint, Queen Kunti, who prayed that her attraction be ever drawn to the Lord, as a river forever flows to the sea.

In India, younger generation wants to live a life of materialistic western culture which will bring only stress and unhappiness. Hope they realize what the Indian culture offer to them of contentment and peace.

when Indian people see and hear your soulful singing it feels like Krishna has to come to earth to see, greets and meet these new devotees like you. it was impossible to think that one day these westerners will be calling and praying and singing to see and find Krishna in vrindavan. Jhanvi when people see a natural beautiful women (like Radha) calling for Krishna it is heart touching feelings.

Hinduism is Science and a theism at the same time How? The Universe (Brahmand) consists of 4 things 1. Param atma (Energy) 2. Param tatva (Matter) 3. Maha kal (Time ) 4. Kal (Black space) (Today Science says Space and Time are not different they are different attributes of 1 thing and Hindus use 1 word "Kal") 1. Param Atma 2. Param tatva _Both are Param (Supreme)_ Hence equal Atma = Tatva Energy = Matter E = M E = MC^2 (After Solar formation) _Both are Immortal_ Both can not be created nor destroyed only translated ( or incarnated) into another form (or body ) _Both are Trinity_ *Energy* has trinity aspects 1. Creation +ve 2. Preservation = 3. Destruction -ve *Matter* has trinity aspects 1. Proton +ve 2. Neutron = 3. Electron -ve *Hindus* personified it as 1. Brahma +ve 2. Vishnu = 3. Shiva -ve ( _Anu Anu me Vishnu Vishnu hai_ _Kankar Kankar me shankar shankar hai_ ) Since Energy and matter are two 2 types of worship 1. Meditation (Yog-Connection between. atma and *Param atma* ) 2. Idol worshipping ( *Param tatva* ) Why idol worshipping? Hindus do the same rituals on the purchase of car bike house TV AC etc which we do before idols Bcoz A car can be moulded into an Idol of Natraja But no change in the composition of the proton neutron electron So Hindus are not only the idol worshipers but the worshipers of the entire spread of the Universe as the cosmic form of Lord Krsna(Brahm) And Singularity as Shivling (scroll 👇) *Functions of Param tatva* 1. Proton and neutron are always connected form Nucleous Brahma and Vishnu are also always connected through navel cord (Nabhi) Nucleous Hindi name is also "Nabhi" 2. Electrons always revolve in its ring Depicted as Shiva's dance in the ring of fire *Functions of Param Atma* 2. *Preservation* Vishnu the personification of preservative aspect of the Universe energy Or Simply Vishnu the preserver We all are manifestions of Lord Vishnu 1st ideal avatar of Vishnu was Fish 🐠 2nd ideal avatar of Vishnu was Turtle 🐢 Where he came on land Now in last 150 years Science said the same how life evolved and preservered on Earth 1. *Creation* The universe borns out of nothingness (0) and will merge back to nothingness(0) Nothingness is represented by 0 given by AryaBhat 0 is an ellipsoide shaped Shivling which banged and infinity came into being 1,0000000000000000...... And The Universe 3. *Destruction* Since the universe borns out of nothingness(0= *Bigbang* ) and will merge back to nothingness(0= *Big crunch* ) Shivling is the source of creation as well as destruction Shivling (0)has 2 functions So 2 types of worships 1. Creation (0) -Inner consiousness 2. Destruction (0) - surrounded by a disc kzread.info/dash/bejne/h3usk8R8itHah9I.html 1. Creation (0) Pouring water on Shivling and placing shivling near water bodies symbol of cooling down it's energies so that it wont bang 2.Destruction (0) Bhasm Arti - raining down of human ashes on shivling shows destruction of human Now Science says there is a destructible energy *Black hole* and same way it destroys planets into dust and ultimately collapses into singularity (Shivling) Now *String theory* looked into quarks and found out vibrations at different frequencies These Vibrations are nothing but Eco of Om(Omkar) All Trinity principles start with vibration Om 1. Om Namo Brahma 2. Om Namo Narayanai 3. Om Namah Shivay All Hindu prayers start with OM Omkar(Eco of Om) represents the start of the physical universe So Param atma + Param tatva + Maha kal + Kal = Universe (Brahm or Brahmand) The highest manifestion of Brahm is *Para Brahm* Multiverse *Crux* In Vedas It's written Worship both 1. Sambhuti (Matter) 2. Asambhuti (Energy) Otherwise you will go into darkness While we worship Param tatva(Matter) more not Param atma (Energy) So Do Meditation for 1 hour every day with/without chanting Om It rejuvenates ur body and soul All sages did meditation, Ravan did meditation , Lord Buddha did meditation to empower themselves ____________________ *Summary* In the beginning there was nothingness(0) which banged Came *Adi Para Shakti* Name is self explanatory "1st energy beyond all existence" _Then_ Vibration of Om(String theory) _Came_ Proton (Brahma) _Hence_ Brahma is said to be the creator of the material universe _Then_ Trinity(3) to 33 kinds of things which consist of the entire universe _______________________ There are 2 things Worship 1.Param atma (Energy) 2.Param tatva (Matter) Now We all heard worship the Paramatma But What is param tatva(matter) Advance defination of matter Matter is "a highly concentrated form of energy" So There are 2 types of energies 1. Invisibile energy 2. Concentrated energy (Matter) Hence We can say that Param atma has 2 forms 1. Formless (Energy) 2. Formed (matter : Condense energy) In Short, Param atma is everywhere in manifested and in unmanifested form

Dear Jahnavi! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you thousand times... For creating awareness, for touching hearts, and simply for creating beauty in the age when the whole concept of beauty is being destroyed. And when the beauty is combined with devotion then it has the power to transform hearts of other people. I constantly listen to your album and this video just made me cry. You are doing such a great service and your devotion and purity shines through your art. I know how difficult it is to accept praise. On one hand you have to deal with it as an artist, but at the same time you have to stay humble devotee... But your art and personality really touch me and I just have to say this

May the Lord take you to every corner of the world so you can spread the Holy Name with your sweet love and devotion. @@sabyasachibandyopadhyay8558 Easier said than done... Krishna had said this while trying to convince Arjuna to participate in the war.... He had asked him to be a Karma Yogi.... A person who detaches oneself from all attachments and sense gratifications (stoic is some sense).... This advice was not meant for all people.... Infact a world full of stoics will be a barren, lifeless colourless utopia....

@@TheFactbase I disagree, Arjuna's struggle to follow Dharma is a metaphor for every individual's constant struggle for direction in life. Arjuna accepts his place in the cycle of life and death after Viswarupa Darshana, where Krishna shows him his true self. Arjuna is never convinced to fight, he only accepts his place in the grand tapestry of events, where Krishna is the center. That is why he is "Bibhatsu", he never performs brutality even on the battlefield. This is because he performs his Karma with Krishna at his heart, that is why he can remain unattached from its consequences, while simultaneously maintaining pure motivation and equanimity. The essence of Karma Yoga is Bhakti Yoga, without unfaltering Bhakti, Karma yoga cannot be achieved. Srimad Bhagavatam is a lesson to every person.

A rare gem. A song. A genuine gift to humanity. The soft melody enters the ears, melts the heart and ever so lovingly awakens a part of you that was asleep within yourself. The spiritual awakening spurs you to take action ...in this one instance saving our sacred environments. The true beauty of this song manifests in its 'repeat value'. I have lost count of the many-many times Ive heard this, even though I only just stumbled upon this gem last week!! Jahnavi ji, albums like these immortalise your devotion for Krishna, spurring spiritual awakening through your special brand of pure, soulful music..!
