    SEGA never misses an opportunity to milk their customers, their business practices are disgusting and it goes beyond these DLCs, they love to add invasive DRMs to their games, and regional pricing is non-existent for them, the game is cheaper on Japan than on Brazil lmao. For the sake of comparison, Baldur's Gate 3 and Cyberpunk 2077 costs R$200 BRL, while LAD8 costs R$350 BRL. It's insanely expensive.

And the fact that he said anything about putting the new game+ behind a dlc is more than most voice actors have spoken negatively about a game they're included in. They're usually not allowed to mention anything like he did. Just say you don't like Yong lol but don't act like Yong is skirting around this because he's some shill. Extra info: The outfits from the DLC can be used from chapter 5 onwards as 'battle outfits' once you can change jobs. Also note that the default swimsuits are not available as 'battle outfits' initially but I believe they are unlocked later. So, if you want your team in swimsuits during battle early then the DLC will give you that. Post game allows you to set outfits while exploring. Apparently though, starting NG+ REMOVES the ability to set outfits while exploring again! (WTF?!! Why?!! 😮) Sooooo, NG+ is a bit meh! Post game dungeon is just for grinding really. Only other reason to get DLC is to have cool 'battle outfits' early. Have I got that about right?

    That's a bummer. But a small "victory" for those few who still never buy DLCs for any game. (In my case, as someone who usually buys games when they're well seasoned, I tend to spend some small additional amount of money in order to get the full version of them, which includes all DLCs. For this title I'll just have to remember that the base game is all there is to it!) Thanks for your videos!

    I usually base it on whether there's a substantial amount of added content. The basic idea isn't new, after all, what DLCs brought is publishers trying to sell tiny bits and pieces in addition to the larger expansions we had long before. It's also why i wasn't terribly concerned about this one. I already knew the NG+ and dungeons for the previous game and wasn't expecting that to amount to much. I'd even disagree with Mort that the NG+ was the biggest thing since you can get almost the same experience by just starting a new game.

  • @mjc0961
    @mjc09614 ай бұрын

    I didn't buy the NG+ bundle for $85 and I'm sure not buying NG+ separately for $20. I didn't even spend $70 on the base game, I got it for a few cents over $60 during a Gamebillet Christmas sale. Not sure why they were doing sales on preorders but hey, I'll save $10. I'm appalled by NG+ being this bad. I checked the Steam reviews you mentioned and you apparently have to re-unlock things like jobs?! I already didn't engage with jobs in the base game because they unlock way too late for me to care. NG+ would have been the perfect opportunity to mess with them, but you can't even if you pay the extra money. What a joke. Seems like there's other issues too, like characters joining your party with level 20 gear from the base game and difficulty, even if you're playing Legend where enemies are level 75+. And you enter a battle right away before you get to change their gear, so you're just stuck with a teammate who has garbage gear, can't deal damage or take damage due to weak weapons and armor. This would all be stuff to complain about if NG+ was included for free as it should have been... SEGA wants $20 for this broken mess?! The greed is staggering.

  • @namelessanonymous2913

    @namelessanonymous2913

    All of those points are true but the sh*thole goes even deeper. Characters that join the party late won't have their level scaled up from the previous save. Once you get to the Kiryu part in the second half, the first thing you do is likely to level grind because your teammates are all 15 levels lower than where they should be. And the worst of it all, they didn't even bother to remove the tutorials. There's zero effort whatsoever put into this.

    just to add something real quick for the base game trophy: it popped cause DLC tophies never count towards base game trophies. which is a very good thing. HOWEVER. ichiban, level 70 trophy. the maximum level you can fight is the amons/robomichi's fight. and they are around level 55-ish. even with the DLC dungeon it takes a long while to get to level 70. so imagine grinding that shit out against level 55 enemies? the only real hope you got with that is doing enough of the minigames to get those level booster drinks that give you a single level. and i think there are about 10 in the base game? not sure on how many but i know they are limited to 1-3 in most minigames. so.... yeah.... without the DLC you will be grinding for MANY hours to get that one trophy. let alone the personality/awakening that after doing the school and the memories grinds to a halt in terms of gaining points for em.

    I just wanna make the statement that the average jrpg enjoyer is not likely to feel like theyre missing out because ng+ contains such a small amount of content worth exploring in pretty much all jrpgs unless youre really after that true ending that some need ng+ for Still a terrible marketing decision, making this an "eventually when it's on sale" purchase for me (like a dragon was a lot of fun) and i am suspecting the bonus content will eventually find it's way into the base purchase, but looking at it, isn't going to be a deal breaker if it doesn't Also this doesn't surprise me, Yakuza games love monetizing things that really shouldn't be monetized (like jobs/classes) like some sort of mafia

The thing I was so surprised about and loved about it was how perfectly balanced and how great of a turn based RPG it was. I loved the end dungeon grind and the millennium towers. It was such a good RPG on top of a great Yakuza game. It's still my favorite out of the ones I've played. I was really hoping they didn't soften the difficulty to make it more accessible but I can see now that's exactly what they did.
