Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth - 17 - KIRYU FINALE AND ENDING

Ойындар

THANK YOU FOR JOINING ME FOR THIS GAME. I loved it so much. I just want to play all the old Yakuza games again too. Soon :)
The ending was surprisingly more on the positive side of things. Really can't wait to see where things go from here. I think the series is super open - now more than ever. Anyway 10/10 game i need some Jima Gaiden game or something now DAYUM.

    Seeing you cry made me cry again. As a cancer survivor, it was so hard to see Kiryu look like that. i looked like that 2 years ago. But the point is that he’s trying. He is a fighter. He is an inspiration.

    I broke in tears when the boys arrived and suddenly "The Four" fighting alongside now in RPG style one last time. After seeing their journey along with Kiryu, they are probably Kiryu's truest friends that he can really relate to. Also fun fact, Daigo is actually just a year older than Ichiban, sure doesn't look it. As for Kiryu, I also broke when he just cried and begged for the lives of the Yakuza he failed, not just Daigo, but ALL Yakuza. Ebina is perfect as his final boss, the embodiment of all the pain the Yakuza have done to the innocent and their desire for vengence manifested. It feels like what he said after was the last on his bucket list, to beg for forgiveness for all the people who he didn't take the time to help, all starting when he gave the Tojo Chair to a man he knew only a few hours at first. The final two scenes I think are well done, although Ichiban's ending was a bit lacking. Ichiban's quality that Kiryu lacked is shining, he *cares* he'll endure whatever to look after everyone on his watch and do it properly to make sure they have a future to hold onto. Kiryu however has finally lost his strength and regained his name, he's no longer the Dragon, just a man. The torch is passed. Loved this game, playing through Kiryu's saga made it hit all that much harder.

    Yeah ichiban is a rare type of man. Most would absolutely old grudges to being betrayed by someone they thought was their friend and be bitter or hateful toward them but the fact that he wasnt would absoluely be incomprehensible to majority of people because of how rare someone like that is. Hell irl pure human beings after puberty are extremely rare.

    I think it's an empathy too. Being stuck 20 years in Jail and being the way he is isn't even all naivete. He's doing what he does because he knows what its like to be at Rock Bottom. He believes people in general need at least someone to confide in even no matter how shitty they are.

  • @Runebee

    Yess and then you have people like Ebina and Eiji who became consumed by their grudges. Both extremes just make Ichiban's positivity just comes off as so natural and easy. Like damn if Ichiban is this forgiving, maybe I can be too. Much better than having your life ruined by revenge, etc, like the villains. I know the Like a Dragon games don't intend to be PSAs, but they're so good at writing characters and make you be like damn that's an inspiration right there.

    @@Runebee at least Ebina actually had a good reason to be so hateful. He was even doing the country a favor by getting rid of the yakuza once and for all. I find it very hard to be mad at someone like Ebina after what he went through as a child. As far as Ichi is concerned, I truly disliked how he forgave someone he only knew for a few hours and not only that, threw a girl down some stairs in a wheelchair with an explosive on her lap. I truly wanted to at least put Eiji in a wheelchair for real for that.

    I can tell a lot of people will not like this Ending but I Absolutely Love Ichiban's Ending and I can tell Yokoyama really knew what he was doing. The Fact that we all know Ichi is really forgiving and proceeds to Try and Redeemn Eiji show's the scene very well. Everyone Hates Eiji be it the NPCs or even the Fanbase hell even me and the writers knew we'd hate it because thats the message. It completely resonates the theme with 2nd Chances just like Ebina thinking the yakuza are never forgivable but kiryu begs him and Kasuga knows damn well what its like to be hated by people being a yakuza. The game is basically trying to convey because people did very bad things we all hate them but everyone always has the choice to atone and continue to keep living. Hanawa's end was summed up by kiryu, he was just a man who's constantly worked by the Daidoji and he could finally rest albeit it was not the ending we hoped for but a tragedy. Theres still alot of plot holes like Akane-san, Lani and Wong Tou's son but thats the problem with having so many characters as its neigh on impossible to conclude them in 1 game. My guess is that their setting up future games where we meet them. It does seem like the gang is gonna split up until the next adventure comes again. I just wish we get a DLC to give kiryu a Closure with Haruka.

    Honestly, Kiryu would like only have an short extension on his life at this stage - this is the closest to retirement he gets, and with friends and family around to. No more cameos or even minor plot involvement in future games - this man deserves his uninterrupted rest. And as to why the Daidoji would possibly allow it? Well, it probably will be more trouble than it's worth to 'erase' the existence of a dying man who doesn't have long to live anyway. Kiryu isn't the type to reveal secrets, and he is too frail to even be a threat.

    I actually understand where Ebina is coming from. Let's face the truth, as much as the Yakuza games glorify Yakuza, the reality is that the vast majority of them are criminal scum. There are exceptions, as with every group of people, like Kiryu, Daigo, Ichiban etc, but all those canon fodder mobs that you fight? It's not like they were inviting you to tea. Most of them use guns, bats and katanas to mutilate people or get their way with violence. Ebina wanting them to pay for their crimes after the very convenient dissolution that allows them to just go to normal life is understandable. The lengths he go to on the other hand, are reprehensible. That's why Kiryu isn't mad at all. He understands where Ebina is coming from and says that his feelings are valid. But it isn't practical to actually want to punish every ex Yakuza. It's really better for them to be given a chance and be allowed to be normal so they'd stop committing crimes. Is it fair to all those who suffered under them? Of course not, but it's better and safer for everyone as a whole. Think the Yakuza aren't a problem? If you go to Shibuya station at night and exit to the square next to the Hachiko statue, you'll see school girls in their uniform standing around. Think those girls are waiting for their friends? No, they're there for paid dating. I'm honestly fine with prostitution. It's just a job to me. But do you think those girls are there because they want extra pocket money or want to suppor their families? Wrong again. A majority of them were coerced into it by Yakuza. TLDR Ebina is right but his methods are wrong. That's really how most villains nowadays are.

  • @Runebee

    @Runebee

    Yeah Yakuza villains usually don't miss with their motivations. He's definitely evil in his methods, and having a character like Kiryu be his direct counterpart and try to make him "wake up" led to such a wonderful finale.

    I'm with you. The Daidoji will pull something that will rock Ijincho and Kasuga's world, after a couple years they forgot him. He'll start sniffing around, and the plot will be fixing Japan's clearly disasterous political machinations by taking out the Daidoji faction with an added benefit of releasing Kiryu to reunite with saejima/majima/dojima/Haruka and the orphanage so he can finally retire from life and the series as a whole. He's a tertiary character at best, the focus is on Ichiban, and we finally get that closure. The only loose ends after IW are Daidoji and Watase(where's he at) anyhow.
