Great review, I have the Trek Fuel EX e 9.5 and upgraded the suspension to a Fox 36 160 mm and a Fox Float X Factory rear, this bike now is near perfect.

Great stuf, I have just bought the 9.5 and upgraded the fork to a factory 36, I have also done the wheels as the standard were like lumps of lead looking at rear shock now, I don’t mind the rear rock shox but I was thinking it can get a bit overwhelmed, how have you found putting the Fox Float on the back ?

Bought the Orbea RISE H15. Great bike other then the rear hub failing at under 100 Miles, (apparently they had supply chain issues and got a bad batch from Chosen). Thanks for the Videos!

The Pivot uses DW-Link rear suspension, like the old Turners, which explains why it feels so settled and capable.

What about the new 2023 Orbea Wild which is also very light? I'm currently have the Orbea Rise M-TEAM with battery extender.

The Wild looks very interesting, but I expect the cheaper models will be noticeably heavier compared to the Rise.

Great reviews. I just purchased a Rise H30. I immediately swapped the brakes to 4 piston slx, upgraded the rotors, increased the stem length by 10mm, added a 20mm riser bar, and went tubless. I put my personal preference wtb silverado seat and esi grips on it. I think I pretty much upgraded everything you pointed out. I'm super excited to ride it. Can you tell me what shock pressures/settings you are using? I'm maybe 148 lbs. It seems to want really low air pressure to get to 30% sag. Although I'm thinking my shock pump is suspect.

Thanks. I unfortunately don't remember what pressure I rode. We switched between so many bikes with different pressures, and I didn't keep my notes. As far as I can remember, the H30 was comfortable at pretty low pressure. But increasing the pressure a bit felt more composed when descending .

I figured it out. My shock pump was bad. Ended up at 84 psi in the front at 205 in the back as a starting point. Thank you!!!

Great video. I am thinking of buying a Rise M10 as they have a pretty big discount at the moment. Ref your Garmin watch: I have a Feenix 5 plus - could I use that to show battery life and if so is it easy to set up? Don't really want to splash £200 on a display. Thanks.

I added a data field to read battery % on my Venu SQ. It works as long as there arent another Shimano bike near by. But I believe the Fenix watches works much better. That would suffice for me!

What are your thougths on chainstay leangth ? Im lookinh at the rise medium, 445chainstays and 450 reach. Or levo turbo gen 2, 455 chainstya and 435mm reach.

I personally think 455mm is on the long side. But it's not like they should be super short. 445-450 mm is common on new bikes these days. It makes it easier lifting the front end, also on the descents, so it's easier maneuvering the bike. But I guess many will prefer 455 over 445 on a long and burly size XL bike.

What are your thoughts about removable batteries ? Is it enough of a downside to not buy an orbea rise if you would store it in a cold shedd in stockholm ?

There are a couple of adavantages with a non-detachable battery. It saves weight and it's easier/cheaper manufacturing the frame. So if you don't need to remove it, I'd go with an internally fixed battery. But places like in the Nordics, a detachable battery might be a must for the winter season. If you ride your bike in the winter and it's stored in a cold shed, colder than 0*C, you won't be able to charge the battery. And if you start your rides with a fully charged yet cold battery, the bike might shut down well before the battery is empty. The battery isn't harmed by being stored down to -20*C. But some manufacturers might void the warranty if the battery cell temperature drops below -10*C .

@@EMTBVideos but I like the poppy playfully feeling of the Orbea Rise. Did you notice mutch of pedal strikes on the rise? 140mm front vs 150mm? I know you tested both. Other ebikes Ive tested feels veeeeeeery sluggish without the motor turned on. But the Orbea always feels sporty to me

Yeah, I initially planned on comparing 3-4 bikes, and considered including the Levo SL. But new lightweights kept rolling in, so I had to draw the line at 6, to keep the work load down. Even 6 was a bit too much.

Good stuff and confirms my fears are unfounded re the Trek being a better buy than my Rise H30. It isn’t. Trek being heavier less powerful and way more expensive. AND you couldn’t ride it due the system weight…? What on earth are Trek playing at? They’ve had years to top the rise and failed besides a quieter motor. Only issue I have with the Rise the sealed in battery, which I haven’t needed to remove yet, and the slight lack of power v full power bikes. I’d hope there was a battery upgrade by now to enable full power, but that’s the battery industry not the bike industry. Love the Rise ❤ and mine came with a screen👍 Pa the Rotwield is a stunning looking bike I must say. And st ride app gives the exact percentage. It’s better than the Shimano app imo

How did the fazua ride 60 feel vs the older ride 50? How does the Fazua ride 60 compare with the EP8 RS motor in terms of performance?

I never rode the Ride50, unfortunately. When pushing hard, at high cadence, it seems the Ride 60 will output more power than the EP8-RS. But at lower rider input and lower cadence, the RS will output more power and do a bigger share of the work. The RS feels more generous with the power.

I am not surprised of the Shuttle. I have a 2020 Shuttle that only has 140mm of rear travel (160mm front).... Since my Bullit died (170/170mm) I took it to the bike park, where to my biggest surprise I killed all my previous Strava times on both blue/black trails. Even on the really shaky rocky stuff, it just felt more "composed" as you put it. That said, still waiting for a light MTB that has long travel (160-170mm) and a battery that's fast to swap. Use case is still: self shuttling laps.

I have a ton of Emtbs (2021 Rise M10 and 2022 Shutle SL Team that were shown here) the new 2023 WILD M-LTD is as close as you can get to what you want. You just can't swap batteries as fast but its crazy light. I have one on order and it will replace my 2022 Sworks Levo.

I had a levo and liked it, but the range was terrible and just not enough travel. I am 6' 2" tall and 230 pounds. Full fatty all the way for me. You never know, though, if they could up the range on a kenevo?

It will be interesting to see what the next Levo SL is like. I guess it's possible it gets a 430Wh battery and 50-60Nm motor. But, the Transition Relay anf Focus Jam2 SL already got those specs and a bit more travel.

thanks a lot for that video - I am a beginner and could get a brand new Orbea Rise H30 2022 - for EUR 2900.-- I also checked out some Enduro embt from Canyon and Bulls for around EUR 4000.--... no sure... the fixed battery in the Orbea might be bad... but somehow I am really attached to the Orbea... not sure but money is also a subject... EUR 2900.-- brand new with full factory warranty - no brainer?

€2900 seems like a great deal. Sure, there's a new model out. But even if the 2025 H30 is released soon, it could be almost twice the price.

@@EMTBVideos thanks a lot - in the end I got a "full size" Embt the Bulls Sonic Evo AM 2 Carbon 750 from a local dealer for EUR 3300.-- / will see how it will fit my needs... ok, it is 25kg but got bigger motor and bigger battery pack and most important: I was able to buy locally , could check out the bike and the battery pack is removable :-)

That fuel exe and new tq motor is just nasty. It is special because it looks like a normal bike. But the price is also nasty. I will have to wait to see if they maybe make a trek slash with tq motor. Then its no brainer for me. That one is what i will buy. Im sure it will be made. But probablty 9.8 xt. The axs xx1 is just stupid expensive.

For me the best option is a Garmin 830 (or 530 or 1030). Bars tell you too little. 1 bar can be 1% or 20% 3 bars can be 41% or 60%... These are differences between making it or not making it back. I frankly do not understand why Shimano (and others) allow a percentage display. You already have a display right there.

Shimano is introducing new displays now with 10 bars. That helps alot. But yeah, the data is already there, it's just a matter of displaying it. Showing exact percentages might not be enirely accurate, so Shimano possibly decided to round off the numbers. But many others show exact percentage, I believe even Bosch does on some displays for 2023.

New orbea Wild is best of both worlds?!?

Yeah, it sure looks that way. There are a few emtbs out there at around 20kg, with bigger batteries and full power motors. The line between lightweight and full-fat isn't all that clear.
