Yes I can confirm that for newer Sony models with USB Type-C ports, you can plug them directly into an iPad Pro, and LR CC will detect it on the Library screen and let you import straight to your Library.

Ps using the usb c from I pad to A7R4 .in the camera settings ! you need to disable the charging from USB port

The interface is slightly different on phones, tablets, Android, iOS, and when used on desktop or laptop devices (Windows and Mac OS).

If you need to use Photoshop as well as a Raw editor then you already have access to Lightroom. Capture One would be an additional purchase for a raw editor that performs exactly the same task as Lightroom. I also like using the only non-destructive workflow whereby you open raw files as smart objects in Photoshop. I am not sure if this is still the case but Capture One would not allow the use of custom ICC camera profiles. I also like integrating the Lightroom CC app so that I can access my catalog via mobile devices courtesy of Adobe’s cloud.
