Now it’s time for some Q and A as I asks Rob some fun questions about his favorite synths, what is the best sounding synth, what is the most expressive synth and what is the best re-issue synth and more... Rob returns the favor by asking me about my favorite synths.

Anthony's musical touch as both composer and performer is connected with some of the most influential creative minds over the last 40 years. He’s composed and conducted original orchestral scores for over 80 feature films including Young Guns, Internal Affairs, The Man From Elysian Fields, 15 Minutes and Planes, Trains & Automobiles, been commissioned by the Los Angeles Philharmonic for his symphonic work "In the Family Way", written over one thousand TV commercials in a myriad of musical styles, co-founded Levels Audio Post (LA's premiere post production facility) and performed and arranged on big-box-office films and influential hit records such as Michael Jackson's Thriller.
His extensive work as a young arranger, orchestrator and performer for Quincy Jones, Jack Nitzsche, Lamont Dozier, Arthur Rubenstein and Giorgio Moroder was vital in launching his own career. His early years pioneering modular analog synthesizers along with his wide-ranging music scholarship positioned Anthony at the center of the music technology revolution. He attended the University of Southern California School of Music as a piano and composition major.

I think many people will agree, but we would love to watch these blokes natter for hours ❤
You two have such chemistry. Anything you do together, I will watch.
Hi Anthony, looking forward to see the interview. Congratulations on your 4 million accumulated views in your channel! Have a nice day!
What a fun post!! Fun to hear both of your favorites and not so favorites! lol
You guys are so much fun with all this stuff! Shoutout to Rob, he answered a question one time for me on a synth forum about repairing my OB-XA, thanks a lot for that Rob. Cool to meet you and see your amazing shop!
I just want to say that i love you both. Thanks for this. Its priceless
Really liked this- hate speed questions myself and now I have a new comeback "I know way too much about this stuff to answer quickly" .

Makes it hard to answer "underappreciated" or "best not well-knownt" questions, because you know what you know isn't what the general public knows.
❤❤❤That was so sweet that kinship. And yes it’s so nice if you have likeminded people. My favorite guitar pedal was my own hybrid, tube screamer, distortion and heavy metal - which had also 64 presets and 4 immediately available on 4 foot switches and that was back in 1990 and made our live gigs so much simpler for me. But that’s not really modulation for modulation it’s a trusty BOSS chorus. And these days I just play everything through a little GE200 no more loose pedals no more big amps, no more complaints from the neighbours 😂
Great. 🎥 Video!!!!!!!
Anthony, I just wanted to say, I watch your videos every time my heart issues start acting up. Your very calming demeanor and synth genius helps tremendously! Thank you so much.. Also, any love for a Dx7?:) love hearing Robs take!
Both excellent and talented people thank you for sharing Anthony ❤
Love love this!! I own the OB-X8 best synth I have bought hands down.
So touching to see the love you share. Thank you for all your videos.
Hey, I just want to let you know I am not a professional musician, only own one synth (that crazy Moog thing that Radio Shack sold years back) and haven't seen too many synths in real life. But I'm totally captivated by your videos. Keep up the good work. Listening about your processes and working with such amazing talent really brings home to me why music of my day was so damn good! Cheers from Canada!
very informative! 💚

Man knows his synths
One thing I think is really cool is - On the face of it, if you saw these two guys you wouldn't think they'd have much in common, let alone would hang out - a young guy with long hair and tattoos and a middle aged guy who looks a bit nerdy (I don't mean this in an insulting way - if anything, I find it charming) . They're two very different people with very different backgrounds - but love of music, and of synthesizers in particular has brought you two together as unlikely friends. It's kinda beautiful in a way.
Great questions !
1:32 Rob didn't take enough time. I was waiting for "...the Elka Synthex" :)
I'm just seeing Anthony moving his ARP with a handtruck on that desert island HAHAHA 😆
look at that clock on the modular! just look at it!

I wonder if that's an original module or if someone put it in later. I aspire to have a modular systemine day and out in just onecompletely redicilous module just for the satisfaction when someone asks me what it does... -"Oh, this is a toaster" -"So, some kind off effects unit? -"No, an actual toaster. For bread."
Id love to hear Robs opinion of the Arp 2600 reissues, both Korg & Behringer
Thanks guys, wonderful! I have a question if I may? I am a proud owner of a (vintage) prophet-10, sadly it is currently in need of some serious tlc (which is extremely sparse here in Sweden…). I’m looking to invest in some spare parts, and here is the question: Do you think I have to spend big money on vintage CEM IC’s or might I just as well buy the reissued ones made in the UK (thonk something) that are like 10 bucks? Same with the burr-browns (and probably other stuff to I’m sure). I’m all about functionality and sound, not worried about staying 100% original. Thanks again guys, absolutely delightful videos!

And 5 minutes later I actually checked the rosensound site and there are the parts, quite affordable, and their availability at that particular place probably answers my question if they are good enough…. Cheers!
🥰
Agree with a lot of these answers but is the PPG Wave really overrated? I feel like they aren't mentioned too often relative to something like the juno 106 which is super basic and sounds ok at best. The most overrated is probably the 106 or some other Roland synth. I was underwhelmed by SH-5, Jupiter 8, JX-3P etc.. I think the JP-4, System 100m, and SH-2/9 are excellent though! Cool video!

@Bata9999, I agree with you. The PPG 2.2/2.3 to me produce some of the most unique digital sounds that have no equal. The Juno 106 is also highly overrated. I think the love for the Juno 106 is because it is still affordable and very easy to program. Your assessment of the Jupiter 8, JX-3P vs the JP-4 and System 100 is also on point.
that is from the last week , chopped up material , see you next time
hate to disagree but best vintage synth bang for the buck alpha Juno under$500 most over priced over hype tb303 love the sound one sound) best drum machine 808
Remember people; kzread.info/dash/bejne/q6edsqyInN2uoqg.html we never say it quite enough (esp. men) out loud in person - how important people are to us. When done right, honestly and from the heart, it's never cheesy or awkward. Give people their flowers and your appreciation before it's too late. This moment got to me.
