6 months ownership of a Lightning XLT. 8k miles. So much cheaper it’s ridiculous. Most of my driving is within a 10 mile radius. But constantly on the go. 14.2 average MPG on my 2020 Lariat 3.5 Ecoboost for the same driving. This thing only needs charging every third or fourth day. To 90 percent too. My average is 2.1 miles per kWh. No more $70 oil changes. Never mind the $700 30k mile service on my Ecoboost.

@@kbgt1523 on average a Lightning will save $11k in fuel savings compared to the hybrid. $14k fuel savings vs an average non-hybrid Ram, Silverado or F150. Over 5 years. The battery is warranted for 8 years or 100K. That’s JUST fuel. I’ll take all the savings and trade it in before 8/100k.

They just opened up ordering for the PRO (for those that did the $100 early sign up) starting at $50k. I'm very excited for mine to get here! The one thing that I wish it had from the higher trims is actually the center console that flips into a table. I'm going to be seeing if there is an after market option. Your excitement got me even more excited!

Your “mileage” discussion seems a little flawed when you think about costs (regardless of if you want to travel cross country or 99% of your driving is nearby). If you can get 240 miles from the standard battery (we’ll round to 100 kWh battery for ease instead of 98), and the price of electricity is 13c/kWh (Utah), that’s roughly $13 to “fill it up”. Crazy cheap! At about $4/gal by me for the cheap stuff, at, say 20 mpg, that’s $48 to “fill up” to 240 miles worth of range- almost 4x more! The costs to drive EVs can be extraordinarily cheaper. I’m very excited about this truck and the extra daily utility I can get from it, along with the cost savings! 👍

Are you sure that's an Extended Range? 176 miles at 75-80% doesn't seem right for an extended range. And how are you figuring efficiency? Cost? Energy used? Where you're charing makes a HUGE difference. I charge my EV at home at $.11/kW whereas public DC fast chargers are roughly 4x that. Even at 1.6 miles/kWh, you're looking at $1.10 for every 16 miles driving. At today's national average gas price ($3.601 according to AAA), that's roughly the equivalent to 52 MPGe. Even more if your average is 2.1 miles/kWh. That's WAY more cost efficient per mile than gas.

Like to your more real world opinions/reviews! Too bad the pricing on the Lightening Pro has went from mostly affordable to not a work truck price. It is also just disappointing that when towing your range gets cut in half or less. Yes, I know in some ways that is just expected because that also happens in most ICE pickups. For a work truck or farm truck, it is almost unpractical. I think for those reasons the hybrid F150 is the much more practical option, except for the pricing on it.

  • @honesty_-no9he

Why is it not practical for a farm? You charge it with Solar. How big is your farm the size of Montana? For a normal farm it is perfect. You can power tools etc with it etc.

@paulavenoso899 Toyota has drastically scaled back all efforts. Yes, Bill Gates owns a farm or two, but we know he is not intelligent enough to be a farmer. Automobile travel is an extension of air travel. Until the EV aircraft is perfected, the EV pick-up truck won't be practical, nor any working class, one vehicle family hauler. A working class 40K vehicle now costs 65K due to hyperinflation that's not acceptable to begin with. EV cars are like iPhones are disposable, and so are EV cars. Just the battery's and the wiring harness OBT2 port and computer is basically all if not half the value of the Hybrid, and that's unexpected by the working class. Hybrid aircraft has to get better first, or hybrid cars are useless to the working class. Take your 40 thousand dollar wiring harness and shove it. Nissan is getting around the EPA by selling half of the Pathfinder sales and profits to the CCP in Wuhan China. So now we are cheering the communist for fighting the EPA, what bizarre times we live in.
