Guys, this was REALLY helpful. Thanks! I added some of these to my larger cabinets a few months ago, then just did my Billy's over the weekend. One thing I did differently was only penetrated the back of the cabinet twice - under the top shelf and under the other fixed shelf. On the removable shelves, I cut a small notch in the corner to allow the wires through. I know you would not do it that way because of your dioramas, but I did this to allow my shelves to go up or down in the future, just in case. Used the two-sided stickers that the NORRFLY came with to make sure the wires are tucked neatly in the corner. Thanks again!

I've just done this for a whisky collection, using the 80cm wide Billy with the Oxlade doors, and two 67cm wide Norrfly, one for the top, one for the fixed shelf halfway down, and replacing the four moveable shelves with Billy glass shelves so the light shines down through the shelves. It looks fantastic. Thanks for the tip to go in the Norrfly direction.

I started something like this but with color lights for atmósferas for my figures. Mother said I should not destroy my brand new bookshelf… 😂 mom I bought them for this purpose 😂❤!!! I knew others would do it definitely; I am so glad it will work out 😂❤

A few months from now I am moving into a new house, and I will give my TF collection a better place in a few new Billy's. This lighting advise video could not have come at a better time.

Holy shit 😲 Skullface, now that is how you do it man like a boss. It looks beyond amazing and is going to make anyone appreciate their figures and dioramas a thousand times more. It looks photo ready and the whole collection just pops now, I can't keep my eyes off it. It's visauly stunning I could just go on forever just how much better it looks. It's like a museum it's a beautiful thing to take in. They really are quite good at lighting, and look pretty clean from the front. About the only feature they are missing is a dimming switch, but I have been happy with my Norrfly from the moment I installed them.

I ended up buying a bunch of these for my Transformers, don't have the backdrop or the lighting. However thank you for the inspiration and the walkthrough, I am hoping to have something look at least a fraction as good as yours does here.

You ever think of getting some sheets of plexiglass (cut to size) and Velcro strips to attach them on the front of the Billy’s to create an enclosed display? I did that to one of my bookshelves and it works pretty well.

Warm lights make all the difference! I wonder if they make partial diffuser Shields for those lights?

Mr Skullface, your overall display is spectacular, very impressive. From previous videos you have mentioned many times your preference for Billy’s for transformers displays, and using the Detolf for your Hot Toys display. I used the norrfly in my pax wardrobe, they are great and if you get the tradfri hub you can control them via hue essentials. The main downside to me is they don't offer rgb.

Looks great, picking white bookcases might help even more , I find collectibles seem to disappear when sitting on black or dark book cases.

Protip: Get some braided wire loom (preferable black) and put that around the wires running from the LED strip to the back of the shelf and it will help hide that white cable.

Did you consider using double sided tape/magnetic strips/velcro to mount the lights instead of drilling holes and brackets? Looks great regardless.

Sad to say that the Norrfly is being discontinued. I'm not sure if its replacement will be suitable but time will tell.

Anybody stumbling upon this after the Norrfly has been discontinued, Ikea has another light system called the Oversidan. Its intended to light a wardrobe but it has a screw in mounting option that can be used on the bottom of the shelves of a Billy. Just be sure to grab the correct size to fit your shelf as well as a power hub and power supply cable.

Uncle Skully makes them himself.

You need another hub. The hubs are rated at 30w each, the lights you have are 5w each for the big and 2.5w each for the small. That's 75w going through what is rated for 60w.

These lights are discontinued 😭 are there another options with similar adapters.

The Better Home and Gardens brand that WalMart carries has some offerings that are exact copies of Ikea's shelves. For example, the Cube Organizers are exact copies of the Kallax series of shelves. I haven't looked through all their bookcases, but perhaps they have a decent facsimile.
