Butterfly lighting can be used with an additional fill light from the same side as your key. It's also called Paramount lighting because this setup was regularly used by the studios to light their beautiful starlets.

Yes totally! Since I was just using one light it was more of an example but yes You can also use it under your key light to fill in any additional shadows you might get if the key light is too high. And yup exactly was used a lot during the old Hollywood days in studio settings which had a lot of top rigging and was called the paramount lighting. Hope you enjoyed the video!

Thanks man! Yeah it’s a hard beast to tackle, but the more you start doing it and learning about it, the easier it gets. But honestly it’s the kind of thing where you feel like you never know enough. I’m working on another video where I go over my favourite lighting setups and how to do them
