Good demo, a lot of the old lanterns down here are truly “hurricane” lanterns so love seeing one like this, not sure why metal was not used more to hold the fuel, definitely a lot less of them would have broken. That lantern is powerful and a beauty, the whole thing looks like new great restoration and light to have on hand.

Growing up we just had oil lamps and our running water was a creek that ran down the holler ,, that’s the way daddy chose to live because that’s the way he was raised I reckon… I reckon I wouldn’t have much trouble going back to that way of living if I had to, and the way things are going it might not be much longer… thanks for sharing that lamp with us, never did understand how those glow bags worked with out falling apart 🤔🪓🤙🦅🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

Didn't know they even made these things until about four days ago - yesterday I joined a few forums - and today I found a total mystery lamp just like yours except un-tried for $65 on The Bay. I BOUGHT IT !!!!!!!!

Awesome thanks for watching. Please be careful testing them the first few times. I wish I would have talked a bit about safety in this video. This lamp has been tested many times and I did have a fire extinguisher right there.

@@TheBeStLifehomestead Please not to worry. I use my 1954 Montgomery Wards #3 blow torch regularly at work as a repairman. Maybe this will put you mind at ease - I am an A & P mechanic and the son of one. 55 years of small engine repair behind me. In the 80s I invented the propane-engined commercial floor burnishing machine. I grew up using Coleman lanterns, stoves and heaters. PS - the absolute cleanest fuel you can get for one of these things is Reagent Grade Heptane. It's the purest high-end white gas. One step down from that in purity but still awesome is a product called "Brake Wash" available from Zep inc. in 55 gallon drums or 5 gallon carboys. It is 99.95% pure Heptane. It's what I use for vapor-greasing parts and it's plenty good enough for indoor lamp use - so long as the air in the room has enough oxygen to do it's job. Then N-O carbon monoxide at all results according to both my gas analyzers. But yeah - everyone contemplating having an electricity-free evening indoors with one of these things should wrap their head all the way around exactly what they are doing !

So glad Chris and Milo did a Shout Out! I collect oil lamps…over 300 now! They are currently in storage as we are renovating The Ole Church and it’s where we plan to display them! My favourite has to be the Aladdin lamps…we have 4….looking for some wall brackets now for a few lamps that sit in the brackets! Here’s some Love. (watched to the end).

I got it from oldclemanparts dot com or net or something search them they are easy to find. I just tried to look it up on their site from my phone and couldn't find it but if you don't see them there give them a call. warning it was not cheap as shipping was about the same price as the shade do to the care taken in packaging it and the size they pack it in a box and then in a bigger box. Thanks for watching and hope that helps you.
