This video showed up when i was looking at a different light mod, and now I'll be a sub for sure. Ive been tinkering on my 99 NBS for over 15 years now. Love mod ideas, especially tastefully done OE style upgrades. Im currently researching the DRL+Low Beam mod, so DRL stays on when you turn your headlights on. I just heard about it looking in an old forum lol. Take a look and see if thats in your area of interest.

I put a jumper wire in the fuse box to make the drl turn on when the ignition is on

Thanks Koosh.......I did as you described and it works. It doesn't look Factory Fresh and it's not Showroom Quality, but it works perfect.

I’m gonna do this to my 2001 GMC Sierra I just got. I already put new amazon black housings with crystal clear lenses and a nice set of LED headlights for both the highs and lows,but extra visibility is just extra visibility for safety..especially in the country where I’m at…I’m already beefing the suspension and brakes up,going to put a winch on the back and front,and some other stuff to make it a sturdy and tough rig. The 5.3 in it only has 86k miles on it since it was replaced and the trans is new,and both diffs been redone before I bought it…I’m gonna try this mod and look for the drl mod now

That speed crimp going to be trouble make sure to replace it with a good heat shrink connector

I just posted on your other video, still looks like you have these just 7 months ago so assume they must still be good, are they still looking clear? hard to tell in video maybe just dust

They are still clear! No leaks/fog, all the LED's and halo's still work like new. I get this brand again for another truck when the opportunity presents itself.

Did you turn off your day time running lights? if so how did you do it?

Will this make the low beams stay on all the time, even during day when the only the DRLs are on?

Thank you for the question! This mod will only make the lows stay on while the high beams are on. The low beam will otherwise function normally.

i tried that with mine hooked the yellow ground to the frame via jumper wire , did like yours but no action even made sure the wire was grounded . i have a 99 GMC sierra 2500 . and yes it was the low beam light that I got the ground from the yellow wire any ideas

@user-xd6tw4lu7v ah man, it's frustrating when that happens. Samething happen to me when I first installed the jumper. I had to squeeze that crap out of it to work which leads me to believe that some of these have a wider gap then others. You might try pinching the jumping to close the gap a bit more so the wire fits a little more snug. Then when you crimp it, use sole pliers or the like and squeeze the shit out of it. If that doesn't work, maybe we hit the books and see if there is something special about your year truck that we need to take in consideration. Best of luck man 🍻

There's a circuit board that is made for doing the same thing. Sells for around 20 bucks.

Seen that! It's for the 2003- 2006 I think 🤔 I didn't look into why it won't work on the 2001-2002. My gues is the fuse box is arranged slightly different.

@Kooshdaakaa Garage I'm going to try the ground trick on my 2004. Here in a few minutes. Because your truck has the same headlight shape as mine. So I'm curious if the same thing would work with my truck. Obviously 04 was the split year. An my truck was technically built in 03. Novemberish or so. Lol

@Kooshdaakaa Garage . Will do. I got caught up making a trailer dolly mover. So didn't do the lights yet. Lol A harbor freight trailer dolly mixed with a razor scooter. I'm not sure it's going to actually work yet. But I have the 2 pieces put together. Lol Trying to move a 16ft enclosed double axle trailer is not the easiest thing to do. Especially when trying to turn it. Lol

@Kooshdaakaa Garage I tried the headlight thing. It did not work on my truck. But I only did it on the passenger side. I was thinking maybe if I did both sides then maybe. But the passenger side did not work for turning on low and high beams for that side alone. So I'm thinking it won't work even if I did ground out both sides. In conclusion for my truck I need the circuit board. Lol
