RgVeda does not have a script. It was oral. The script came much later. Also, RigVeda is not a text interested in describing cities. It is one describing rituals and spirituality. However, the later of books of the Rigveda does suggest west ward movement of which formed the Avesta.

Professor Shinde appears not as convincing when he talks about Vedic Period-Harappa connect as he is when talking about the Harappan Civilisation in general. This question is significant because of the larger cultural debate/narrative, much policised in India. The Anchor very rightly refers to this issue as raising many questions towards the end of conversation.

The main sewer, 1.5 meters deep and 91 cm across, connected to many north-south and east-west sewers. It was made from bricks smoothened and joined together seamlessly. The expert masonry kept the sewer watertight. Drops at regular intervals acted like an automatic cleaning device. A wooden screen at the end of the drains held back solid wastes. Liquids entered a cess poll made of radial bricks. Tunnels carried the waste liquids to the main channel connecting the dockyard with the river estuary. Commoner houses had baths and drains that emptied into underground soakage jars. It was world’s first known urban sewage system. Even they had a flush toilets. And they had a first man made huge swimming pool. When British arrived in India, Indians had absolutely no clue what toilet is. Even to this date, many Indians still don’t use toilets. This gives you a tantalizing hint about how Indus valley civilization was destroyed with an absolute impunity. That is the main reason why Indus Scripts still remain as Alien scripts for us.

Good interview. A few comments. Vedas were never written. They were transmitted orally until about 150 AD. Scripts came much later. So connecting "Harappa script" with Veda is pointless. Second, the Vedas never were a history of people. They were translated like a history by Europeans. One needs to read Indian Veda scholars like Aurobindo and Kashyap (or learn the Vedas) to understand this. Googling and reading Griffith's Veda online will give you a fake story. Lastly if anyone looks into the Vedas - their only legacy is the Vedanta which is Indian/Hindu cosmogony. There is no dictation from the 4 Vedas of architecture or gods to be worshipped. Most names like Indra. Agni, Saraswati, Vayu etc have metaphorical meanings, not literal. And as Dr. Shinde rightly said there were civilized people all around, perhaps more "primitive" but nevertheless - speaking, singing dancing etc all across Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, UP and the South and East. We never ask about them while we obsess with a fake migration story.

The other 'Indo-european' R2 haplogroup observed at a frequency of 14% in scheduled castes and 6.4% in tribals. This is a substantial genetic contribution and not 'trace' amount. The only 'pure' australoids are the andamanese and some north eastern tribes which completely lack R1a1/R2 and iranian agriculturist haplogroups. Even if the australoids came first, they eventually mixed, first with iranian agriculturists and then with Indo-Aryans.

Read Talageri's book on RgVeda and Avesta analysis. He clearly shows that the Proto-Indo European language homeland is in India and more precisely in the Saraswati-Drishavati region. The evidence ? Well, the myths between Germanic and Greek have no commonalities except those that matches with Vedic . Now the Iranian myths have only matches with Vedic myths and no Germanic and Greek myths. If Proto-Indo European came from the Steppes , then the situation should have been reversed. However, it is not so . Therefore, if you draw a tree , then it is only possible that there was a Migration of Proto-Indo European Language out of India and not into India. Further analysis is given by Talageri, on the sequence of rivers and also in which order did the tribes migrate outwards. There were multiple stages of Out-of -India migration. The first were the Dhruyu tribes that went all the way to the Celtic region. The word Druids come from the Dhruyus. And they are also mentioned in the later part of the Rig Veda. The last migration happened was of the Bhrigus (Arthavas) and they conincide with the last book of Rig Veda. The Mitani evidence further strengthens this point since their gods have Vedic names and not Proto-Indo European names which means they happened when the language of Vedic Sanskrit formed it's current shape. They are ones that composed Zend Avesta and migrated to Iran. That is why the two myths match and much of the rituals match. The Rig Veda is not one book . It is developed over hundreds of years and is classified into ten books (mandalas). Please see them your selves and read his analysis vs Witzel's Analysis who posits the Rig Veda after 1500 BC. And please remember the script we have for Sanskrit is of Classical Sanskrit formed during the time of Panini and not Vedic Sanskrit. The two are different.
