Here we are.. The last Dudley story. These stories have truly been such a treat to make, I really had a lot of fun with this one. There are a lot of surprises in store in this video, and I really hope you guys enjoy what I have for you. I need to give massive thanks to ‪@Jje09‬ for creating the Dudley model. I have bonded with this model haha, so it has really become such a close friend at this point so it kind of sadens me that this is the last we will see of him... (for now?) Anyways, I really hope you guys enjoy this. If the video gets made for kids, then oh well haha. See ya next time!

What a conclusion. My favourite shot has to be where Dudley lunges forward when saying "You will remember me!" I think this definitely confirms my theory about Dudley. That theory being: He is the scrap engine we see in 'Demons'. One: Similar shape. Two: Similar sounding voice. (Not because these are narrated by the same person) and Three: Identical faces albeit with wrinkles. There was even a model by SodorRyModeler on Twitter long before the Dudley stories were written which was where my theory came from.

@sonicscott9119 Indeed! I'd like to believe that he was broken by seeing his brothers get scrapped, which drove him to taking a turn for the worse. He soon forgot about them, and only cared for himself. He didn't want any help, knowing that many other railways treated every engine with separate care, thus none of their actions would do a thing. He assumed the same thing of the NWR. He fought for his place on the railway in the form of competing all the other engines. He was afraid of Sir Topham Hatt scrapping him, even though he knew Sodor was a safe-haven for steam engines. Ultimately, he proved himself a powerful engine, but in all the wrong ways. The Fat Controller has standards for physical _and_ moral strength. At first, Dudley excelled in the former, but even that collapsed due to his lacking in the latter, especially when he endangered his entire train of passengers for the sake of spiting a diesel.

And wouldn't it just be the case that Richard takes Dudley to the Scrapyard - in a dilapidated condition and beyond any repair - after his Driver and Fireman left him in a scrap siding. @@matheusdealmeida1279 you have to remember that the stories involving Dudley took place - some years even some decades before Richard was rescued by Henry. Richard was probably pretty much the positive result of a engine like him being rescued by the NWR And the Fat Controller! Bear and Boco were there. Mavis and Salty and Daisy so that places the Stories of Dudley around the mid 1960's - from what I can extrapolate Richard was found by Henry in the mid-1970's possibly the mid 1980's - steam fell out of use in the years after Beeching's cuts in the 1960's. Steam Locomotive fell out of use but hadn't been phased out of complete use until the early 1970's - however heritage railways sprang up afterwards! One of these was the NWR ! This adaption gave me literal chills... DCG12B's cold and sinister Dudley narration really adds to his personality. That touch you added of him rolling up to The Fat Controller in Toad really added to the impact of the scene, Dudley really felt menacing in that moment! That closing scene... I was really curious what approach you were going to take with that. Most adaptions go with Dudley's ghost in his prime, making a high speed dash towards Sodor. This one feels a lot more sinister, it's like his anger and desire for vengeance is keeping him barely alive and he's using that to force his rusted hulk of a body to Sodor, no matter how long it takes. Were the Ironworks where he met his final fate? Or did he reach the island and stop there, laying low among the scrap until the time is right? Where he was disturbed by his Class 08 counterpart. I'm hoping that one day, we'll get a final dark story where Dudley the "Demon" Engine comes face to face with those that in his mind sentenced him to death.

@@christianwright5874 Nice theory! I have my own personal take too. When Dudley got back on British Railways territory, he was found out for sabotaging the train that spamcan was taking to Sodor at the start of the story. BR contacted the Fat Controller about Dudley, asking him if he caused any troubles during his unauthorised time on Sodor. The Fat Controller being the kind man he is, told them nothing of Dudley’s antics in hopes that Dudley got a second chance with BR and a shot at redeeming himself for the events that happened on Sodor. Unfortunately, rather than change his ways. Dudley came back from Sodor a much more aggressive and bitter engine. He didn’t see himself or his actions as the problem, it was everyone else against him. When BR management came to speak to Dudley, he threatened them, just like he did The Fat Controller…. This sealed his fate. Dudley was withdrawn immediately and sent to Central Wagon Co, Ince near Wigan, he was placed in a hollowed structure, the roof had long gone and he was left to the elements. During this time, he let his rage and desire for vengeance fully consume him. Time passed, and Dudley rusted more and more. One cold, cloudy autumn night, the scrapyard workers came up to Dudley with blowtorches in hand. They started with cutting off his smokebox door. In what would be considered his final words, Dudley cursed the Island of Sodor, he cursed Sir Topham Hatt and he cursed Bear, swearing he would drag the Hymek to scrap himself. Then silence… off came Dudley’s smokebox door. He was gone… Bear woke up with a shiver that night. He wasn’t sure why, but he felt a deep sense of dread. The weather took a turn for the worse, the scrap workers decided to leave the job of scrapping Dudley’s remains for another time. The scrapyard became busy and Dudley’s scrapping was continually put off until the time could be found to finish the job. After that night, strange things began to happen. Some workers claimed they could hear the engine’s remains whispering. Some claimed they felt like it was watching them with evil intent despite its missing smokebox door. Others say that during cold, misty nights they could see a twisted scrap covered face with blood shot eyes on the engine, an evil smirk on its face. Other workers dismissed these claims and as a joke, they began to chalk some of these paranormal claims on the rusted remains. “Keep Away”, “Always Watches”, “No Eyes”, “Run” - they all thought it was a fun prod at their spooked colleagues expense! Nobody was laughing when they finally came to finish off the scrapping… The remains of the engine had vanished… All that they could see in its place was a collapsed building in which the scrap engine once sat inside. The workers searched every corner of the scrapyard that night. They never found the engine… It seemingly vanished, into the night… --------------------- Apologies if that turned into a bit of a story. I tend to get carried away when writing 😂 I had this idea floating around my head ever since seeing this photo of Dudley’s real life counterpart 63971 awaiting scrapping at Central Wagon Co., Ince, near Wigan. www.railwayherald.com/imagingcentre/view/301482/ST

I’ll say it again, this is the best adaptation of these stories I’ve seen to date. This episode in particular is chef’s kiss for me. There’s so many little details in this, like the eye twitch of Dudley in the confrontation or that haunting shot of him coming slowly out of the dark at the end (which really got me when I noticed the model) that add so much. Definitely my favorite detail though is Dudley lurching forwards and getting in Topham’s face when he snarls out he won’t be forgotten. That’s not something I’ve ever seen in any other adaptation and it makes it so much more impactful, so well done. Also, my favorite aesthetic shot is the one of Dudley steaming away into the sun, with the top-down camera over the train. The music also highly compliments that scene, it’s wonderful.

I remember reading about how the scrap engine from Diesels Demons was Dudley's ghost, I wasn't sure if that was true but now I do! This honestly was amazing, when Dudley said "you will remember me" and lunged forward at the Fat Controller, that shows that he really is manipulative, evil, and not afraid to harm anyone to get what he wants. I love how you made Sir Topham Hatt laugh at Toads farewell to Dudley, that was brilliant! 😂😊👍 well done once again Carson!

The shouts and screams of the big engine were still ringing around his radiator.

I absolutely love the foreshadowing from the thumbnail and the idea that Dudley is the same engine as the scrap one seen in Demons. I never really thought about it but the faces do look the same and it feels like it'd be quite the twisted yet ironic fate for an engine like Dudley, especially when he too was a twisted and sociopathic engine. He made it back to Sodor, his supposed "safe haven" but certainly not in the way he intended. The fact his angy/scowl face looks similar to D10 really adds to that too, it really gives off the idea that despite being a steam engine he's still just as twisted as the diesel engines he resents. I won't lie, I absolutely _love_ the addition of Dudly moving closer to Toad and The Fat Controller too, like a kind of "getting in your face" gesture, it really gives more oomph to the delivery of Dudley's "But you _will_ remember me." before backing away. Phenomenal work on this Carson and thank you for connecting the dots between this series and Demons, especially with the creaking noises and light flickers at the end, similar if not the exact same as to what we also see in Demons.

Thank you, Carson and Co, for bringing us this beautiful quadrilogy! I knew the story well before the teaser dropped over five months ago. Most of us did. Regardless, I waited with anticipation every day for a new episode in the four-part series to come out. This is, without a shadow of a doubt, the best adaption of Dudley the Vagrant Engine I've ever seen! The story is presented in an even more intense matter, from the visuals to the musical queues, and from the stylized narations to the extra bits of detail scattered throughout each and every scene. When Dudley's model was first unveiled in the teaser trailer, I was astonished to see just how different he looked with his new face. His scowl represented that of Diesel 10's, and he had a much younger look about him. While a slightly more chiseled face worked for previous adaptions, this new face truly suits this take on the character. It's so fitting that new expressions are revealed as the episodes go on, demonstrating how Dudley ultimately went from a silently scheming steamer, to a full-blown psychopathic villain. The scene where he lunged forward is the cherry on top for me! Personally, one of favorite expressions has to be his closed-eyes laughing face, which can be used for getting away with yet another deed...or, for worse, _laughing quietly as psychopathic villains do!_ Jje09, ya did _great!_ Going further into visuals, the thumbails are brutally fantastic. The first episode shows Dudley beside Bear, as if he's sneaking up on him. The second one shows how Dudley is at the center of the physical fire sparked from Bear's train, as well as the metaphorical spark that started what seemed to be Bear's fall from grace. Cannonball showcases Dudley fighting the storm he's physically trying to avoid, while also paralleling the peak of the storm he created for himself and Bear. The final thumbnail takes a dark turn, showing Bear, Donald, and Sir Topham Hatt watching Dudley being gruesomely grabbed by the piercing fingers of the smelter's claw. It's a horrifying visual that only _you_ could pull off so well! This laat thumbnail, in my opinion, can be interpreted as Dudley's point of view of his final act on Sodor..."Two grimey engines and an obese fat hat betrayed me to rust...they're no different than the fools on the other railways!" I'll go into more depth about this later. As for the music...it's amazing! I _really_ like how _It's just a burning memory_ by The Caretaker was the introductory credits song. Dudley became the forgotten blip in time he tried to overcome, and literally ended up as a burning memory in the scrapyards. The theme that played as he first entered the Big Station is astounding; it sounds akin to a snake charmer's flute, and has a lot of dissonance behind that hypnotyzing melody, paralleling his scheming undertones that are overshadowed by his pleasing facàde. As we dive deeper into his character during his monologuing, a piano playing on a high-octave plays the same melody from before, but with a creepier, more sinister theme. Interestingly, when Dudley was found out, I noticed that one of the queues from _Demons_ was used. Quite fitting, since he _is_ the scrap engine in that episode. Speaking of which, there's a lot of foreshadowing in these episodes...not only to the final act, but also to _Demons._ "Things always work out for honest, hard-working engines!" The other engines hoped he was right, and he _was._ It worked out for him, an honest, hard-working engine, but _not_ for Dudley. Even the Fat Controller Stated that "Deceit has no place on my railway." Furthermore, when Dudley was awoken by Bear, he scowls harshly, "You've disturbed my sleep!" This is the _same_ exact thing the scrap engine in _Demons_ said to Diesel. Needless to say, Dudley _is_ the scrap engine. Considering the fact TheBuriedTruck has even confirmed this to be true-that is, according to Dudley's lore recorded by the TTTE Fandom. Also, the last scene with Spamcan being tormented by Dudley's fantom makes me question something...in the post-credits scene in _All Eyes on Dennis,_ was the self-shunting train at Vicarstown _really_ being pushed by the Marklin engine, or was it Dudley trying to get around? Most-likely, it was Marklin, but it's fun to speculate...also, I wonder what would happen in Sodor's realm of the supernatural if Marklin's path intertwined with Dudley's? Lastly, DCG12b put in his _all_ for being the voice talent of this whole series! Every character was _not_ merely narrated...he _became_ the characters! I'm just in awe with all the work that was put into this whole project. It will remain a highly-regarded project for years to come, and a testament to how much the TTTE Fandom has learnt to master the craft of making its own specials with an Australian Train simulator. God bless you all, and I wish you nothing but smooth runnings! ~ Joseph trainonthetrack 10/21/2023

The modelwork (especially on the star of the show himself) was impeccable! The scoring is also *french chef kiss*. Love how you made the low violin the main motif so to say for Dudley's theme. The confrontation was on point, the music, Dudley's eyes shaking with fury, Him pouncing at the fat controller! You truly feel the hate and fear and everything that's driven him to do the things he did. It is sad what became of him, and I am saddened by the fact we probably won't really get to see him in the future. I’m excited to make my analysis on Dudley. I’m also impressed with how you still managed to keep the British accent despite not using the original narration. Their voices sound so fitting.

This is utterly brilliant, I hadn’t really found a favourite adaptation for this story but this CLEARLY is the best one! The way each episode is pulled off is utterly exceptional! My favourite parts was Henry’s crash in the first episode, The tanker crash and explosion in the Sparky Fly for Bear, the landslide in Cannonball and...obviously. Dudley’s ghost in this one. The ominous feel and the fact of Dudley showing dominance over Spamcan. Little things like the eye movements and facial expressions make this different from other adaptations. I also like Dudley’s sinister voice in this adaptation and how he almost bashes toad through the buffers when he is confronted by TFC. Oh yes and also the follow up from ‘Demons’. The music and the iconic groaning. As soon as I heard that. I knew that he coming back! Absolutely brilliant work. I have no idea how your pc can withstand such graphics and the editing is top notch. Very well played and hats off to you, Carson!

Am i the only one who finds Dudley more scarier in this adaptation than the previous ones?

Everything about this is note-for-note perfect, Carson - the mood, the atmosphere, the tension, the deep sigh you take during the resolution....and the way that epilogue was done. CHUFFING BRILLIANT. 🙌 Looking forward to the next one. 🙏

If the soundtrack from "Demons" wasn't enough to prove Dudley's connection to the scrap engine, then the fact that "Demons" is at the end of this video does.

I'm so happy that Henry sided with Bear given the events of Super Rescue, and he was able to see through Dudley's plan after the events of Diesel's arrival, also I'd love to know what he said to Gordon and James during the telling off!

I love the use of the music from Demons when Dudley unravels himself to Topham. It makes him much more sinister.
