update? : So it's been a few months since I uploaded this and I decided to try and animate the animatic in Krita. It's... ehh it's trying to come along. It's been hard finding a brush I like and just learning how to use the program in general on top of learning how to animate. Not to mention it's kind of laggy when I'm drawing sometimes which doesn't help.. But I can promise that I'll never give up on this project. I'm slowly putting together a PC so there will be less lag when I work since I'm using my laptop for everything right now. and by slowly I mean VERY SLOWLY It's a work in progress.

ANOTHER UPDATE I threw away Krita ! It was too laggy and the audio sync wasn't lining up so I'm working in Pencil2D now and it's 10x better performance so I promise I'll get this done !

Also - everyday I'm learning something new about animating. I've watched animation with a technical eye all my life and was always drawn to it but it's been scary trying to learn how to do it. I keep telling myself it's just a hobby so I can get past the fear of how people will judge what I animate because I'll be real with yall, I'm a total noob at this. So it's gonna take me a while.

This is genuinely brilliant! It's all so stylish and it really captures some of the darker, more sinister tones of this song. Only thing I'd change is to make the corpse begin to convulse and pant and hiss during the last couple "Oh no!"s, it's hard to hear when you listen normally, but if you can find the vocal track alone it's plain as day and super unsettling. It really ties up the horror aspect into some poor guy that came back... but he came back ***wrong***. I really enjoy that you didn't just go with the figure of speech version of "a billion eyes" and also included a literal version. I really really adore the song for it's double meanings in nearly every line, the simultaneous commentary on using dead performers like Jackson as holograms and synthesizing "heart and soul" (Music is made from the heart and soul of the creator) and "New hands, new throat" (Things you use to sing and play, but were replaced when they remade him, changing what fans loved and also fundamentally changing his music) and "your last ride ever, forever" (His farewell tour is going to last forever) "When you see the charts tomorrow" (He'll top the musical charts) "Put you back in circulation" (Back into circulation on the market) etc. Yet it's also a really good horror story about a man being absolutely terrified of his disfigured, disgusting, cobbled and stitched half-dead body "Look, it's you!" (He can't recognize his own face) "Ain't nowhere you can hide! Don't be frightened of us..." (He's trying to escape) "When you see the charts tomorrow" (Literally the medical charts) "Put you back in circulation" (Heart restarted)

I like how the scientist just looks vaguely annoyed when the celebrity’s head comes off at the end. Kind of was expecting a breakdown or something…

YO AS AN ANIMATOR GOING THROUGH HER BACHELOR'S DEGREE RN, THESE STORYBOARDS *SLAP* By the way, the pacing and composition of these storyboards are actually a LOT more in line with how boards and animatics were made back in the day! Less boards and fluidity like it is in modern 'animatics' (which is honestly just full rough animation at this rate), just enough to bring out the important beats and blocking of the scene. Some bits are faster, some bits are slower, and it ultimately leaves room for the animators to do whatever they want to do to add pizazz. I can only dream of fully coloured, clean boards until you finish this sucker. I'm so stoked for you and proud of you. Keep it up!

Thank you so much! this means a lot. My main influences were the storyboard behind the scenes from the disney DVDs I watched as a kid. I too dream for this to be fully animated but I'm like really new to learning all about animating and stuff so idk if it'd ever be fully animated but I am working on the animatic right now, just going through a bit of a learning curve right now.

AAAAA YES THIS IS SO GOOD I love how fun the transitions were, go funky mad scientist go And the guy they revived?? Loved how it seemed like he got more disheveled over time (or maybe that was just me not noticing at first) but hey that was super cool!!!!! So excited to see the final product! A! AAAAA! I spent all week in my free time trying to design the main singer for a Lifetime Achievement Award storyboard of my own and here this delightful piece of work comes along and shows the exact feel and redraw-able design I was trying to achieve for my project. Back to the drawing board for me, I suppose. Exaggeratedly anguished rant aside, this was really solid! I especially like how you took the animatic at the end with the revived guy showing visible signs of deterioration that would inevitably lead to his final death, though attempted to keep together by everyone. It ties the whole story up very nicely and that whole sequence was pure *chef's kiss. As someone who got stumped on how to board that part in an engaging, clear way myself, I can see you knocked it out of the park. Awesome effort, dude!

oh my goodness . i have to say a few things about this. not only did this animatic inspire me to go from regular drawing to trying to animate for the first time, but it's also so incredible that i watch it over and over in sheer awe. genuinely i'm blown away by your talent in making the characters have so much gesture and expression in them, gives the whole piece so much life, and from an artistic standpoint i think the character designs are brilliant. i also love the various interpretations of lyrics and i think it's genuinely incredible you're able to do such a huge project. it blows me away honestly, it's so so incredibly impressive. i hope only good things come your way because oh my god this is a Huge thing. thank you for bestowing upon me a glorious video
