It seems fitness tends to draw in people who consider themselves introverts, loners, etc. Here I discuss my thoughts of this personality type and how I've changed my way of thinking over the years.

Fellow introvert here.. There's a quote.. "The most lonely feeling isn't when you are alone, it is when you are among people who you don't have a real connection to.." I COMPLETELY butchered that quote because I don't remember it, word for word, but paraphrasing here.. Maybe I'll post again when I see that quote among my photos.. =)

TubeDeviant I remembered reading that. If you're surrounded by the wrong crowd, with people you cant relate with no matter how hard you try, who don't really serve you as an individual, you will feel very lonely and kinda lost. But when you are just being literally alone, in your own company, your own space, you don't really feel that loneliness - you feel more grounded with a sense of direction instead.

One thing I can't stand is when people try to get you to talk more, I talk when I feel like it or feel the need to, just because someone is quiet doesn't mean they're shy, a lot of people such as myself just like to mind our own business, thats whats wrong with people nowadays is that they don't mind their own business and worry about other people too much. I'm a pretty chill guy, I just keep to myself and like to have some alone time doing things I love such as: Drawing, sculpting, writing stories, watching favorite TV shows, video games, exercising, and walking my dog. I enjoyed this video, you basically nailed everything.

Frau Kunterbunt It's because people really don't understand what it's like to be an introvert. They think being an introvert is a bad thing. We live in a world where being social and out going is the norm. While keeping to yourself and being by yourself is considered weird. So people do need to understand that being an introvert isn't a bad thing.

Jakme Auff i have dated & slept with many women but nothing ever really goes past that. I am a diehard introvert & i guess i am a loner as well. I can relate to this video. Maybe i should put myself out their more. I am not linked to any social media, i dont even like carrying my phone around with me, i am very private & like to lay low most of the time. Its not easy but its all i know and i am used to it. Growing up as the youngest of 3 to a single mother had a major impact on me. My mother & both older sisters went through divorces and had to raise childs alone until they found a better man. I guess marriage & kids is not a priority to me but i do feel lonely and bored sometimes and dream about it so this post at the top gave me hope. Haha you are 20? Jeez kid relax trying to look for "the one". Hook up with tons of girls, have fun hanging out with your boys, chase success instead

Thank you for this!! I can relate to this on so many levels. As a fit professional in the medical field, so many people wonder why I'm single. I see too many people that aren't truly happy or content being by themselves. Too many people jump from one relationship to another. Too many people don't take the time to be single and "alone" to experience the true magic of self discovery. I've always loved the quote, "I'd rather be alone for the right reasons, than stay with someone for the wrong reasons".

It is because, alot of people (especially extroverts), have not overcome their emotional & belonging needs (by themselves) first. Why they always need to be around other people.

Introverts tend to be abstract philosophical thinkers, which is why we tend to recharge in solitude. When we're not saying anything, it's usually because we're deep in contemplative, strategic or imaginative thought. We're the visionaries...the architects...the artists...the writers...the musicians...ect. I myself love to go for long walks on scenic routes because I find it stimulates my thought process. Never be ashamed of what you are.

I'm a proud loner - introverted and loving my self made sanctuary. I have a loving husband, a beautiful son and the love of my mother and siblings. I am a doting aunt to my nieces and nephews - I spoil them and spend my time creating an interesting life for them. Unfortunately the majority of people outside of my immediate family have let me down, or use me for their own gain, or their friendships are transient. I do however keep in touch with two women professionals through messaging who I consider as lifelong friends. I volunteer as I have a caring nature especially with animals and humans who need care the most. This is how I'm naturally hardwired and I love myself and I love my life!

  • @ErwinSchrodinger64

You basically nailed it with how many men feel. I tend to be alone for 3-5 years and then get into a serious relationship for 2-4 years. I'm 36, a scientist, a bodybuilder, runner, father, and I'm happy. I'm not picky about people but I don't open up to anyone unless there's a gradual relationship brewing or there's really good chemistry. I have 3 REAL friends that's better than having a multitude of mediocre friends. If you're my friend you're a real friend. I tend to keep quite. I have Ph.D chemical physics and think deeply about very technical fields like quantum mechanics, partial differential equations, and many realms of theoretical physics. I've yet to meet a female that has any of the same interest as me but one prerequisite is for a lady to have basic logic and independent thought. If I'm at church or at the park at 5 a.m. in the morning, I never tell people really anything about myself. There's no need. If they ask where I work I tell them at a university (as a administrative). Don't tell them I'm a teaching professor, especially at church. What I detest about current society is that everyone assumes that if you're not with someone that something is wrong with you. I don't even attempt to explain. I recently had one of my teaching associates ask me out on a date. I lied to her telling her that I was kind of seeing someone for the simple fact that I don't want to be with anyone right now. In addition, she's the type that clings on from relationship to relationship. I'm perfectly happy being by myself. Part of who I am and a great deal of happiness, stems from who I am. I'm happiest when I'm pushing myself. My happiness is not dependent on someone else. Yes, I'm alone but that doesn't mean I'm lonely. The ability to take in life, like a beautiful sunset, and have a deep appreciation that I'm alive to see such an event gives me contentment. Life is truly a gift and it's only when I take life for granted that I'm at low points in my life. I know, I'm happiest than most and for that I'm most grateful.

So what makes Religion and intelligence the defining factor of being a person? Is religion not personal feeling and intelligence actual experience or thought thereof? Does it make a weirdo to stand and admire the flowers in your own garden?

  • @ErwinSchrodinger64

    @ErwinSchrodinger64

    7 жыл бұрын

You're making a series of grave mistakes: 1.) I don't know whether I'm intelligent and frankly, I don't care whether anyone thinks that I am or not. Yes, I've had my I.Q. tested, it's approximately 140-145, however, I.Q. has little to no merit when you apply it to various metrics across the board of life and especially in science. The majority of people I was in graduate school and where I teach, I would say, surpass my intelligence. The only factor that has given me any edge is my tenacity to work hard (the primary reason why I don't have time for relationships). The ability to sacrifice and out work your competitors is a variable that is seriously undermined in today's society. So, no, I'm not sounding smart. You're the one that is making assumptions. Having a Ph.D does not make you smart and if I were you, I would stop making that assumption because by your comment you don't understand what it means to have a doctorate degree (doesn't mean your intelligent). 2.) When it comes to religion: yes, you're correct, there is an inherent logical absurdity in believing in religion (at face value) because most religions, at their central core, you can't prove their deitys as well. I will further validate, the primary reason I attend a non denominational church is because it's the church my parents raised me in (ie it's customary). To a large degree, the church I attend, the congregate don't even realize I believe the big bang, Darwinian evolution, and the majority of all science. However, in the end, the Christians I talk to, their motivation is not proving or disproving science, or attempting to increase member numbers, it's all about treating your fellow man with respect and helping (regardless of religious affiliation) and nothing more. On a personal note, if it wasn't for me attending my church in my youth, chances are I would of ended up like the majority of my now thug friends who didn't have the best of outcomes. Could I be an atheist and do the same, of course. So it's more customary and the degree of respect I have for the people I congregate with that bring any form of hope to more unfortunate individuals. So, your comment about all religious people not having any form intelligence is very generic and beyond elementary. 3.) I don't know your level of understanding of science (especially in quantum mechanics, general relativity, entropy, and so forth) but when you realize the insanity of the universe, any meaningful personal belief or objective understanding of reality (science) has serious limitations... even when accepting empirical evidence... the only logical conclusion based on our limited human comprehension of the universe is that the universe is the very definition absurdity.

It's hard being an introverted girl especially since I come from a family of extremely extroverted people. I felt like I was forced to be something I'm not and spent a lot of my early 20's partying and having meaningless connections. It wasnt until my baby brother passed away that I realized that in order to grieve properly I needed to be alone. And I spent a whole month at home alone really feeling all the hurt and pain of his loss. And it was then that I realized how much I missed just being with ME.

Sorry about your little brother. But I must say it is one thing to soclude yourself completely and become cynical, and another to enjoy your own company, happily. Also remember, extrovertion and introvertion is a spectrum so some of your family might be more introverted but they seem very extroverted at times. I don't know if I understood you wrong in any of it but if I did, then nevermind.

I never once insulted you. You are just projecting your behaviours on to me so you can justify your own rudeness. No one asked or cares how many languages you know. The fact that you're going on about them tells me you're very insecure about making mistakes in your grammar and I touched a nerve. Further evidence for this is that you're still pushing this narrative that I'm lonely when there's no evidence to suggest that. You just want something to throw at me that you hope will upset me the way I've upset you by correcting you on the defintion of words. Again, loneliness and solitude are not "literally the same words". The former is a reaction to the latter. It's the same as grief and bereavement. The former is a response to the latter.

I’m an introvert and sometimes people just don’t understand why I don’t want hang out every weekend or have a girlfriend. I enjoy my own company and just like spending time doing things I want to do when I feel like doing it. Nothing wrong with that. Less stress, drama, and bs. More money saved too. #IntrovertNation

Thats all about it dude sef acceptence and being naturally happy regardless of people validation and relationship, if you grasp for relationship or social life and believe it's gonna bring happiness you would be dead wrong because your whole happines would be about that person or friends and it wouldn't be sustainable, but if you are a naturally happy then there is nothing to worry about you can get people in to your life and if they leave, you will be just fine and still happy.

I used to have my circle of friends back in my country, it was fun, but even with that I felt lonely. So sometimes friends cannot do miracles for you. I guess we are the way we are. Two years ago I met what i feel that will be my prettiest gf ever, although I hoped we would be together forevermore, reality just slapped my face, she just dumped me for silly reasons. Now I'm in my third year of engineering, no gf, no friends, tons of depressing and boring hw. Good thing is that I realized that I'm a loner, and I learned to feel good about it, I think loners appreciate more kind gestures from others, and when we met someone like us we can easily understand each other, thus become good friends. I want to state positive and I hope that after I get out of that shithole called college I will set my life back on trail. Let's stay positive guys, so much hardship can't be for nothing.

I was a person that hated being alone. I liked to be with people. I was needy and always called them to check up on them. They took it for granted. They said I was too much and that they were not obligated to answer me. But everything changed with quarentine. Now,I love being alone. I learn to enjoy my own company. I don't disturb anyone so I don't get heartbroken. No drama, no problems. Human beings are hard to understand. I rather have a pet. People now miss me which is funny. They say why I don't call them anymore. I don't answer their call as well. I answer them when I want to. It's not a payback but I just do not feel like talking sometimes. I still talk with people but I cannot stay with them for too long. I feel tired. This quarentine was amazing for me. I'm happier with my new lifestyle. 😇

I'm trying to find that happy medium between being alone and being with people. I like being alone more but sometimes I get really fed up of doing things by myself. Just never really been any good at making friends so when I wanna do things with someone there is usually none to do it with so that kinda sucks but yeah I totally relate to this video.

Wow, this really resonates with me. I was actually very happy when I found out about the term introvert. Before I knew about the term people would just call me quiet and every time I felt like it was said with a negative connotation like something was wrong with me. But when I found out about the term introvert I realized that the way I act socially is actually normal and that a large amount of the population is like this. I think the hardest part about being an introvert is seeing (because we are good listeners and observers) all of the extroverts all of these groups interacting seamlessly and laughing and thinking to myself why can't I have that. But when I go back to my room I am content again, just happy to be the person I am because it reality myself is the only person who will be and has been with me for my entire life. I do love myself so I enjoy spending time by myself!

arian taghdiri I was an omega and a real loser till around 22. Always doing my own thing and mostly rejected by groups, but low confidence and thought there was something wrong with me. But at 23-24 I started to notice there is more in me, there is a huge fire burning inside me. At that point I knew I don't need "them". Now, at 28 I would say I'm a sigma too. I'm stronger mentally and physically, have become Self employed and doing very well, confident, don't give a shit about others. And I'm happier...

I've been a loner for 25 years, my emotions at this point are numb. Occasionally I wake up with a sickening feeling of painful desire for human affection. But if you are like me this can't be changed. It is my defense mechanism and it works almost subconsciously. I hate what I've become as a person, I think of the life I could've had if I weren't so damn weird. At a certain point it's worth just giving up on people an ensuring self preservation.

As I grow up in schools, I've learned that being alone is hard to go through. The thing is, for me, I'm currently going through some friendship issue. And the only solution that I could possibly think of is to be a lone wolf for now or for a while. Maybe being quiet is good for me, back then I'd get good grades because I'd be quiet instead of talking to others like I'm doing right now as a Freshmen. I believe I've learned something from this video, and that is find or do something that makes you who you are. Thank you!

This completely hits home for me! I went through a break up where I was told I'm not social enough therefore I'm not interesting to talk to etc. Just constant reasons why I wasn't good enough when there was nothing wrong with me in that regard. It's just how I am. I love my alone time, I love time in very small groups of close friends, and then, on occasion, I'm completely up and excited for larger social gatherings. I also went through a period after where I was constantly social and it truly helped me grow as a person and understand myself so much better. It even helped recharge friendships I let dwindle a bit after college. Heartbreak sucks but can lead to good things in the end. Glad you were able to find the good in your breakup too. :)

Was hard and took a lots of time & effort, but now I'd say I'm more extraverted than introverted. It's great to have those two sources of energy :D I'd even care to say that introverts make terrific extraverts haha. Cheers!

I feel the same way, always thought I needed to socialize more and "step out of my comfort zone". Yet it always felt wrong when I did go to more social gatherings. This video really opened my view to how I know I'm content alone and shouldent let others influence what makes me, "me".
