You story is truly inspiring, I can relate to it in so many ways, I also postponed my dream to continue my education in advanced subjects after few failed attempts when I moved to a foreign country. It is crazy this video is posted at this time, it literally feels like a sign. After 6 years of learning a new language and undergoing an extremely bureaucratic process, like writing 15 state exams in a foreign language, I just submitted the paperwork that shall finally grant me my full degree homologation and medical license. This is very significant, because it shall open the doors that where shut at me so many times when pursuing a higher degree and training in my field. I truly feel your doubts and above all your enthusiasm. I congratulate you heartily for your accomplishments and following your dreams!! It's never too late! Parabéns!!!!

Parabéns Virginia!!! I very much understand your situation; I grew up in a similar manner, but in a different country than Brazil. However, there was always a certain feeling of pride being from a so-called ''lower class'' because we saw ourselves as tough people and as fighters. I am happy to know that you made the decision to no longer feel ashamed of your roots and decided to turn it into a superpower, as you say. Ten years ago we met friends from Brazil; some of them live in Brazil still, while others live here. Since then I've been learning as much as I can about Brazil and its people; it's been like discovering a whole new wonderful world for us. Your channel has been a great help, especially since my mother tongue is French, and in many instances we have similar sounds in our language particulalry in the way we speak French here. Again, congratulations in your acceptance at Columbia U, and all the best; you will succeed.

Hi;teacher a just curiosity about the word:ivy(aivi) a noun-this word is either a kind of wettest watery plant which rely on water or alike orchids on the garden at the parks they(we must) put these plants because the wall pot you'd need whatever material rakes to sweep its leaves when fall season comes because its bush on garden of the ivy plant on the universities landscape as 'victoria amazonic plant' those're plants which need wet ambiances to survive.

Dear Virginia, Whatever the content a teacher transmits to her students, I've always thought (as a professional teacher myself, and now retired from employment) that the most significant thing she teaches is the person she is, and as a model to learn from. I only began learning Brazilian Portuguese a month ago, and feel myself very fortunate to have discovered your channel. A native English-language speaker, I began learning Spanish some 30 years ago. It was a long and difficult journey, which I've described as an experience of walking into a forest the size of which I had no sense of - and often wondering in the early days, and years, whether I'd ever get out again! Now it's time to discover if, having learned how to learn one language, the experience of learning another will be easier... So far so good, as they say, and this feeling of optimism is certainly helped by the work you have done during a number of years. Thanks very much, and I hope you're enjoying your studies. Jon
