I also know our babies want us to keep on with our lives. We are forever changed, but you will make it to a point that you don’t wake up in a panic every day, the nightmares will begin to become less and less. Our children are special. Angels. We are never prepared for the loss of a child. I’m so very, very sorry. Life will, indeed, never be the same, but it will go on. You’ll never, ever forget, but you will smile again. You will be happy again. You’ll even laugh and find joy. It doesn’t seem like it now, but it will happen. We lost our Justin fourteen years ago, age nineteen forever. My brother lost two of his daughters, at sixteen and twenty-three. It’s a sad sorority we mothers wish no one else would ever join. My heartfelt prayers go out to you.

I feel your pain. Loss my ex to cancer too. We were together since high school 40 years. I helped him out , took him to all procedures etc He went through so much , brain surgery, chemo, radiations, drugs, nothing helped. I can’t imagine losing a child.. my thoughts are with you. It’s not goodbye it’s until we meet again.

I am so sorry……Ewing’s Sarcoma took our youngest son 5 days after his 19th birthday. It’s by far the hardest thing we’ve ever experienced. He did not “lose the battle”, I hate that term. He fought hard, cancer is not a game, it’s not a fair battle. I can’t tell you it gets “easier”, it gets bearable but I never lose the desire to mother my son or protect his memory just because he isn’t physically here. Don’t let anyone rush you to “ get over it.” You won’t. If we lost an arm, no one would say “are you over losing your arm” they would ask “how are you learning to cope without that arm?” Everyone grieves differently & what works for one person may not work for you. It’s a journey, not a destination. Give yourself & your family the space & time you need, be gentle with yourself. He never leaves you, he is ALWAYS a part of all of you. My blessings to you dear Elisha. Your boy IS and will always be a precious soul that touched many others & made this world a better place just because he was in it.
