Life Size Spirit Halloween Proton Pack Hose Mod

Join me while I brainstorm and fumble my way through replacing the hose on my Life Size Spirit Halloween Proton Pack with this Silver Bullet Expanding Garden Hose.
Apologies for the video quality. This project was mostly experimental and I was just recording in case it worked out, but in the end, it did! And I think this might actually be the best hose for the job!

That is an excellent hose mod! I’ve been looking around for a hose alternative. This is the best I’ve seen. I have the life size Spirit pack and Spengler Neutrona wand too and have also been looking for a simple, efficient way to combine the two. The button relocation idea is brilliant. So far these mod options are the ones that make the most sense for me personally. I’m not really interested in getting overly involved with rewiring and all that either. It’s totally possible, but I’m not there yet. So thanks for the cool ideas and keep on rockin’!

Great mod. I kept trying different hoses, but this one looks great. I ended up running the pack triggers through the existing hoses. But, I might copy this for my next pack! It’s what I was trying to do.

This is straight up amazing. However, I'm a little worried about messing with the wiring to the old thrower. I know nothing about how all that works...maybe if i go back and see if i can get a better idea of how all the wiring is set up. I'm going to assume that the power button has a set of black and white wires running to it that you cut and put into the connector, and then ran the other end of the cut wires into the connector?

Yup. It's basically just a wire nut. Black to black, white to white. The cut was only made so I could get the button out through the old hose. If you don't wanna cut the wire, you might be able to cut up the side of the entire length of the hose and just pull it out that way?

You could heat the hose with a heat gun and when the hose softens you can stretch the hose over the threaded connector. The hose could probably found cheaper since it's a shitty hose. Maybe find it marked down for clearance or used for cheap.

My heart skipped when you were pulling the hose, and it almost ripped out the lights. Haha

what all would be involved in doing this with the wand that comes with the pack?

I've been wanting to put my SPENGLER wand on my full size pack. what did you do with the power button for the pack?

  • @CArmenia83

Around the 10 minute mark I go into that a bit. I basically rerouted the power button to the pack and disabled the original fire button entirely. If I remember correctly I drilled 1/4" hole (double check that before you drill) and just poked the button through that and hot glued the back of it in place. I had to cut the wires and then nut them back together in the process, so leave some length to work with.

Hey man, awesome video. I was windering, do you know the inside diameter of the pipe. I want to use the same as you but I've modified my neutrona wand and it's cable is now a large 14 pin ribbon cable, I'm not sure it will fit in this pipe

Inside the rubber core of the expandable hose? No way. It's damn near impossible to pull any wire through that core, let alone ribbon cable unfortunately.

Hey fellow Ghostbuster! I have the same pack with the Spengler wand as well. That’s a great option as it has nice connectors. I bought a better quality 3/4 split loom that hangs really nice on Amazon. I also took the wires for the switch into the wand and two wires from the speaker into the pack with an amp and speaker for a really loud sound.😂

Hey man I just wanted to thank you, this idea really got my noggin joggin and I've blatantly recycled this idea for my own pack! (I also plan to use that expanding hose as well, I concur it looks really good for what it is and its pretty cheap to get ahold of as well!) I've credited you in the description but if you like you can find my own testing here: kzread.infoBPcXDMBSBao

The fittings that attach to the hose ends. I had to change a few things but was able to make it work. Thanks for the video though. I like the hose a lot better this way.@@CArmenia83
