    When they "block", it's called a screen or a pick. It's legal as long as you don't move and are simply standing your ground. You have to be set when you get ran into. Much of basketball offense revolves around setting screens. But if you are still moving when a guy runs into you, it's an offensive foul and a turnover.

    Players don't get involved much anymore because of Malice at the Palace. You have to understand that one incident really changed the NBA. If you leave the bench when a fight breaks out in the NBA you can be suspended a game and will definitely be fined. The NBA made the fines and suspensions too not worth it for the players after that incident. It's akin to what 9/11 did permanently to airports in the USA on a much less serious scale obviously.

    I haven't watched for a few years but don't the top players with the most money still flop like there's no tomorrow because the fines are a joke to them? I have an easy fix to all the unsportsmanlike conduct. Get rid of all the fines and start giving them permanent fouls you start with each game for the rest of your life. Give them one freebie as a warning, that's it. They'll either shape up real quick or see their playing time drastically reduced.

    The Enforcer: The NBA had enforcers in the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s. Maurice Lucas, Bill Laimbeer, Bob Lanier, Dennis Rodman, Dave Cowens, Darryl Dawkins, Charles Oakley Rick Mahorn to name few. The NBA didn't like it so so they made a point to take it out of the game

    There used to be an idea that, during the playoffs, you never give up easy baskets or layups. In those cases, it could be 'acceptable' to give 'hard fouls'. This got to a point where the fouls got Too hard, so it's more unusual to see.

    12:18 For the most part there are three levels of violations in basketball Personal Fouls: These are the most common, they can occur in various different ways but mostly do to improper physical activity in certain spots. Players get 6 personal fouls before they are ejected from the game. Technical Foul: Techs are somewhat in the middle, they are less severe than flagrant but more critical than personal fouls. It’s typically called for unsportsmanlike conduct. Over the course of a regular season if a player has more than 16 techs then they are suspension for a game. Flagrant 1: Flagrants are the most egregious penalties out of the 3. They can be classified by Flagrant 1 and Flagrant 2. For F1, the foul is typically stronger, more forceful contact on an opponent. Flagrant 2: Andrew Schultz (😂 jk), but F2 are the most severe penalties, these are the equivalent to red cards in futbol. And it’s also a suspension from the next game as well. All of these fouls will provide the opposing team the ball and some will allow for the opposing team to get free throw shots.

    11:20 Yes there most certainly has been a problem with refs gambling and potential mafia links. One ref, Tim Donaghy ended up going to prison for one year in 2008-09, but he was just the fall guy, other refs were involved but the authorities didn't have enough proof that could be used in court. Netflix has started working on a documentary on the whole investigation in collaboration with Donaghy. --- With all that being said, the referees are now watched much more closely.

    Yes, thats a good comparison Yellow Card = Flagrant 1 (multiple in one game gets you kicked from the game), Red Card = Flagrant 2 up are kicked from the game. The difference would in soccer you cannot replace the player on the field, while in Basketball no one loses a position on the court (pitch), however the team in which incurred the flagrant would have free throws and given position of the ball.

    No need for NBA players to take tactical fouls to miss games. These days if a player doesn't want to play he just flat out says I don't want to, and the teams go ok, that's fine. It's ridiculous.

    Running into a screener (the one “blocking”) isn’t a foul. If you’re on defense, it’s on you to be aware of your surroundings and your teammates to warn you of income screens so that you can avoid the collision. Screen-setters are supposed to stand straight up without moving (although these days they move a lot and refs just don’t call it a foul) and it’s usually only a foul if they make some kind of forceful movement towards you.

  • @joels5150

    If a defender tries to run through a stationary player, it’s absolutely a defensive foul. If a defender gets knocked on their ass because they weren’t paying attention AND their teammates didn’t alert them to an incoming screen, too often the refs will call an offensive foul on the legally set screening player (which is a terrible call). If the screening players moves too soon, they get called for a moving screen, which is an offensive foul and results in a turnover. I see them called all the time…

    Arrest was the dirtiest player in the NBA while he played 🙄 As for Flagrant 1/Flagrant 2. They are fouls deemed to be unnecessary and dangerous. Not making an attempt to take the ball while shoving, hitting a player around the head/neck area, particularly from behind a player who is in the air, when they are deemed to be ‘defenseless’. This kind of stuff will often be a flagrant 2 which is automatic ejection from the game. A flagrant 1 can result in an ejection, at the discretion of the referee, or if it was the second flagrant 1 during the same game, that’s also an automatic ejection. Multiple technical fouls in the same game also results in ejection. There are several criteria that can result in players/coaches being removed from the court.

    On the NBA the don't have to throw it and get ejected to sit out. It's one of the biggest problems in the league Load Management where stars just sit out about 20 games of the regular season to be rested for the playoffs. Games that have someone like Lebron playing the tickets are even more expensive. So just imagine you save up to take your kid to the one game that the Lakers come to your city spending hundreds of dollars. Just to find out Lebron James and Anthony Davis aren't going to play not because they are hurt but because they want a night off to rest.

  • @krayzy932

    @krayzy932

    Жыл бұрын

    Don't ever buy tickets to go see a star player if their team is playing a back-to-back. Good chance they will miss one of those games. The NBA brought this on themselves by making it so 2/3rds of the league makes the playoffs (or play-in). There is a simple fix to eliminate Load Management. Change it so only the top 6 teams make the playoffs. Neither the NBA nor the players would want that, though. Playoff games mean more money in the pockets of all of them. It's why MLB and the NFL have both added teams to their playoff formats.
