Except it seems that author who wrote about agriworlds did literally zero research on how plants actually grow. The most glaring stupidity is how high intensity farming will result in the soil breaking down into sand and dust. On the contrary plant roots tend to hold together soil and the above surface layer of the plant resists air erosion. It's true that high intensity farming can reduce yields and maybe quality but the factors behind that can be easily resolved or are non-existent to these agriworlds. One such example is how microorganisms need enough time to process the ingredients of the soil to a form that a plant can absorb and digest. Similarly certain nutrients are bound in the soil and are gradually dissolved in the water of the soil (nutrients need to be dissolved in water for plants to be able to absorb them). There is no reason for an agriworld to progressively become a deathworld unless you intend to do so. Everything is monitored and supplemented. Literally no reason for the world to die. You would definitely need to constantly import nutrients from nitrogen (which is needed in the largest amounts) to micronutrients like iron. Honestly you don't really want to kill all life on the planet. On the contrary, you would want to introduce certain bioengineered species that would help the plants grow more optimally. You would definitely need certain species to process matter into easily absorbable nutrients for the plant. There are certain organisms that live in a symbiotic relationship with the plant and reside in their roots. They help in absorbing water and nutrients. Proper ventilation is also managed by certain organisms like worms. Lastly, in such a controlled environment it is really hard for insects to be introduced. Even if they were introduced you wouldn't really want to use insectides constantly because they can build up resilience or even immunity. So the smog of insectides, herbicides and fertilizers in general is bullshit. You would also not need pesticides because the plants you use are engineered to grow in certain ways. Thus it would be easy to manage and all previous plants and their seeds should have been exterminated already. Weeds can be any plant that you don't desire to exist in a certain field. In other words, even agricultural corn or wheat or potatoes can be considered weeds if they are not supposed to be in that field.

@@alexandervlaescu9901 This is one of those cases we call "grim derp", when authors just wanna write the darkest stuff possible and ignore all logic. It's like how Imperial ships need humans to load their guns and even their reactors, resulting in poor efficiency and loss of crew (1 might say humans are abundant, but that's not the case when you're aboard a space ship, you ain't reproducing humans as manpower through the space travel). All this can be avoided by just using auto loaders, since if you invested that much into a massive space ship, you might as well try to keep it running in the long run instead of trying to save the resources (it's like investing in the best tank, but you're stingy and didn't install the breaks) Another example of authors screwing up is when they over-buff 1 of the Necron dynasty Nephrekh, that they literally have a device that can just deletes a planet with a single button, then they have to double down and say "Oh but they can see the future and the future will be bad if they start using it, so they don't use it".

This and the Atten-Era (name is up for debate) really capture this scholarly feeling of listening to you favorite professor reading essays in the lecture hall. Edit: It also adds some nice distance. Awesome new voice my man. For what It's worth from a random. I think what you did with Attenborough's voice was incredibly compassionate and respectful to the guy. Since the universe is completely fictional and socially accepted it doesn't matter if he was into it or not. What's important is that his style is really good and we are lucky to live with him now and record his voice for the internet to hear going forward. Copyright can have it's war against this and maybe it's right but I think it's cool!

I’m glad the new voice is having such a warm reception. And I agree, it definitely recaptures the magic of AI-ttenborough. However, I’ve also grown quite fond of the previous voice, and would love to see it return for videos that cover military &/or inquisitorial history. Another possible option would be to have it act as a “guest speaker” when discussing the military-focused history of a particular planet, or when discussing sensitive/classified information that wouldn’t be included in sermons that “professor” voice would make for the general public. Even better, you could use the two voices to demonstrate opposing viewpoints in the imperium, almost like a mock “debate” in which professor-AI would make a meeker &/or more knowledge-seeking standpoint, whereas sergeant-AI would make a more ambitious &/or militaristic standpoint. On that note, it’d be nice if the two voices could be given distinct names to go along with their personalities. 😁

It doesn't have the tinge of sadness or tragedy when talking about the harshness of the labor, and actually sounded a little proud when talking about how the Imperium utterly deforms planets to create agri-worlds which altogether felt more Imperial.
