    I just found your channel and was going to ask if you could show that xm2 meter. Pretty neat and much different than a dsam. Typical Comcast and their 750 MHz systems even to those beautiful houses. System I’m in just upgraded to 1000 MHz and since it’s not Comcast theres no X1, it’s TiVo and the meters are JDSU DSAM, nothing connects to iPhone or iPad. Other than that it’s similar legacy stuff if not TiVo with moca. Though we have an upstream at 66 MHz because they changed the nodes and amps to do mid split. Neat industry, technology is always changing!

    I love the videos, I hope Comcast is okay with this because the XM is proprietary to Comcast and shouldn’t be disclosed. Little history about xm2 is they were originally designed for headend and network maintenance techs and xm1 was for residential techs but they were so superior that at least in my area they completely got rid of xm1 and got sololy xm2’s. Does the ISP charge the customer to run drops? And I would assume that the customer is not allowed to run drops themselves? Is the cable from outside to the inside the only thing the home owner is responsible for?

  • @rathalostitanXII

    @rathalostitanXII

    2 жыл бұрын

    The ISP is responsible from their connection to the customers side of the house, or we refer to as the Ground Block, from there on it is the customers responsibility. An ISP may install the rest of the wires, included in your installation fee, but if anything happens to them afterwards it is your responsibility. Just like FPL, they are responsible from the pole to your house but you need to get yourself an electrician to do the rest. By the way, the ISP is not required to do “custom” wiring for a customer, that mean running them in the attic and inside of walls. If a customer does not exposed wires, then you would have to get your own contractor.

    Comcast requires a howler from me in my area. Tech 360does anyhow. I just run it and walk it though, I've had enough exp to know if a drop needs replaced and I'm not too lazy to do it. Ingress I run from the jumper also. I use house boxes also, you do not. I do not use drop hangars unless I know maintenance is coming behind me, because they may need to remove the drop momentarily. I tag my bonding points at ground block and at premise grounding point as required. I submit photos via XM app per required. I don't run Docsis scan because the DS scan along with flux scan can give me the estimated info for upstream in my brain's image of what I see and where. In a balanced system you wont worry about upstream so long as you're not going over on your downstream parameters and visa versa depending on meters used. If it looks a bit wonky in my flux graph I may check the full Docsis scan with regard to devices on account so that I can go ahead and get maintenance on their way and close my job with passing phc. Keep doing what you do i guess... But please be specific as to DbmV and Dbm terms and the such. And if you don't know the expressive science behind and are willing to explain. Just do your installs and knock them out my man.
