My dad always taught me that there is always another side to the story. You don't know the entire reason or motivation for what a person does or doesn't do. That alone helps me to not judge so quickly. You simply don't know that other person's story. My dad was an attorney and his voice will forever be in my head. ♥⚖

Wow, the 15 life lessons were so logical,. I have been so depressed, just like you mentioned, ppl always want us to live a life like theirs,. And I can not do that, I knew it in my heart, but my best friend always judged me on my hair, clothing, shopping, financial matters. It's all about other ppl trying to control our life, wen our life is our own,. Ur 15 life lessons are a valuable tool,. So now, I'm changing my life to where I'm the happiest, and I broke away from that so called friend , thank you again, I like ppl that are open & honest, becuz that's how I am,. Blessings 🙏 to you and your family ❤️❤️❤️

I just used that quote today when I was talking to a friend. "Actions speak louder than words". 👍😊👏💯 "When someone shows you who they are, believe them". I use that phrase all of the time. I have dealt with that concept with family & friends. Sometimes, it has been disappointing, but reality. 💔😕 I loved this vlog Renee. I follow much of the same. 👍👏Thank you for sharing this video with us. 👍🇨🇦😊

It's ok to say no is a life lesson for me and to set my boundaries. We are taught, especially as a woman that we are to put ourselves last. You cannot pour from an empty cup, take care of you first, it's ok to say I choose not to do this or that to someone else, they may not like it but YOU are the one that matters. It isn't selfish or wrong. I grew up in the 70s and the 80s, Bon Jovi is my #1 fave band still to this day but I love all kinds of music .. You Rock Renee!

Hi Renee 👋 My biggest thing I'm sure I was born with rather than coming from parents is ALWAYS TELL THE TRUTH! Obviously as a child this always got me into trouble for some reason or other... but as I grew up with 'life trauma' this was quickly added together with Justice... it is a big big passion for me on all levels... I'm surprised I didn't end up working within law somehow or other... but also recognise the amount of injustice within establishments that should supposedly have Truth&Justice at it's very core. But still, only truth can give you peace of mind 🙏🥰 xxx
My mother always taught us…”do unto others as you would have done unto you”
One of my favorite quotes is “The only time you should ever look back is to see how far you've come."
One of my favorite mottos to live by, “Keep your ears and eyes open and your mouth shut and you may learn something” another is... “This too shall pass”
The most important thing a person can do is laugh. It is good for the soul. Audrey Hepburn ❤

Sounds strange maybe but that's what got me thru losing my wonderful 55 year old husband to a fatal fall, 35 years of marriage over in one night~~ was humor. I got lost in all the happy tears remembering our funny times than all sad tears. Humor is HUGE.

Thank you for the "like" its true, and you're kind.
Here’s a real gem. I had this one written in calligraphy, framed and it now hangs on a wall in my house. “What is success? To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate the beauty; to find the best in others; to leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition; to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded!” ~Ralph Waldo Emerson
Love the topic Renee. One I saw and remembered, have written down is, "You can't go back and change the beginning. But, you can start where you are and change the ending."

Hi from Canada .A life lesson my Dad always used and one I try to follow is that if a job is worth doing it is worth doing right.!!
Some of my favorites are "People are more important than things"; "The truth will set you free", and "it is what it is and not what it isn't".
“Never compare yourself to another…you were formed with great precision.” 🥰
I LOVE your list of Life Lessons. I always remember a saying that someone told me "Don't argue with stupid, there is no basement". If someone starts talking I just stay silent and picture they are on a tennis court all alone. They lob the words to you like hitting the ball over the net and I just picture the ball bouncing away while refusing to engage with them.
That’s a great list! When I heard :’when someone shows you who they are, believe them’ and it hit me as a big “Ah ha! Moment too! And I couldn’t agree more with -take the risk! And also the realization that other people aren’t that interested in what you’re doing, wearing, thinking. They are focused on themselves! (and also thinking they’re being judged!). I say : Living well is the best revenge. And don’t let embarrassment stop you from having fun! If I hear a good song playing in a store, I’m going to dance! And believe me, I am NOT embarrassed if anyone looks, laughs, points! Pffftttt! Maybe I cheered them up! And they wish they had that kind of confidence 😉
Be kind cuz everyone you meet is fighting their own battle. How true...LOVE your channel Renee.👏👏
Thank you for this! Especially the being productive lesson. I’ve been in a terrible habit of couch sitting once I get home from work and I know it’s not good for me. My mother wasn’t like me. She’s 88 now and has dementia, but I can’t hold a candle to how she was at my age and younger. I need to make some changes for sure. Thanks Renee!
We are a LOT alike in our beliefs. My favorite saying and one my son and I live by is, “Character is doing the right thing when nobody's looking”. I’ve always done my own thing without caring what others think. My Mom says I was independent from the womb. The only thing different is the taking risks part…especially with money. When you don’t have any to lose and no other income stream coming into the house (no husband) you think differently and you don’t take many risks with money. Now that I’m in a great financial position and debt free I still don’t take many risks with money. I have jumped out of an airplane twice though! 😂. Another saying I love is there are no luggage racks on hearses. Stuff doesn’t matter and you can’t take it with you. OK one more. A clean home is a sign of a wasted life. Not saying one shouldn’t have a clean home, just let the dishes go to have a little fun every now and then.

I think my husband and I are much like you. We both come from families that didn't have much money and both of us made it through both college and graduate school--but there were times I didn't eat (for several days), didn't have heat (and definitely not AC), didn't know how my tuition (and my bills) were going to get paid. Now that we're older and have been working, we have much more money, but we're still extremely careful about money! That's us personally, though. We founded a dog rescue group (we're no longer involved except as a consultant) and we made the decision to take the risk--even financial risk. We took in dogs that needed $3000 in veterinary care when we had $750 in the bank. Somehow (karma? God? the flying spaghetti monster?) we always managed to raise the money we needed, but it often felt like we were stepping off a cliff or jumping out of a plane with no parachute. Even with that experience, though, we're still very careful about our own personal money. I really think it's from experiencing having very little money.
Theres a saying .... those that mind don't matter....those that matter don't mind....love it!
Even a fish wouldn’t get in trouble if he kept his mouth shut. This sign hangs in my 93 year old mother’s home. She repeated it many times over the years! Loved this video❤
One thing I learned is sometimes you just have to "let it go". Don't hang on to anger, don't let things get you riled up, it's exhausting worrying about what everyone else is doing (or not doing). If someone sincerely apologizes for hurting you and you accept the apology, then you must let it go, don't accept their apology but then hold on to the resentment of what had hurt you and then bring it up or throw it in their face so to speak. Just let it go and I promise, you will feel better.
“Do things half-assed” YES! I have not heard anyone else say that in years! I say that! 😂
This was a very uplifting and thought provoking video. Thanks for sharing. And I would add, Life is Short. Take the Trip. But the Shoes. Eat the Cake.
All life lessons you share Is on my list..I add a few more things I do everyday.. 1 Pray and talk to God..2...we have an inner small voice..God gives us warnings good or bad.....I listen to it....Be on time..Respect people time.....I learned this lesson late in life..Have boundaries..Be kind..
Love this!! Many of the things you spoke of I felt deep in my soul…great reminders! And I need to be more productive as I’ve been slacking on my daily to-do list. 😊 One thing I remind myself everyday is to smile, even when I’m down in the dumps, remember to smile. It gives a boost to others you meet and helps you be happier.
Renee, how encouraging it is to hear positive words & thoughts!! Thank you so much for lifting me up!!
Thank you. You have prompted me to act on a major decision. Truly.
Love your video and life lesson's, Renee! Thank you for sharing it! As a person living with Multiple Sclerosis, I've had to learn how to ask for help and not be too stubborn and nearly killing myself by taking on too much all by myself. We all have different life situations and as gung ho as I used to be--just chilling and accepting some assistance on occasion makes my life so much easier. And also - "kindness, loyalty, and, compassionate" are guiding words I try to live by. Big hugs from me in Sweden!
The three life lessons that I go by is to be kind, respectful and honest. I've had long time friends that were honest people but found that was not enough because they were sometimes unkind and disrespectful. And I've had kind friends that were not honest. They are no longer friends and my life is much more peaceful without them. Sometimes it takes awhile but you live and learn and wish you have learned sooner. I only watch videos of people with these qualities and I watch all of your videos. 🥰
Wonderful video. I can still hear my Mom saying, “God honors commitment.” That statement really did set the foundation for my life.❤
Great lessons - I would add trust yourself and your intuitions
Here is a fave comment I happened to read recently from the NYT….it will likely not matter to very-efficient-You but some of your readers might enjoy it, lol. “Good morning. If you’ve already broken your New Year’s resolution, don’t despair. You don’t need a holiday to change your life.“ Great advice imho. xo
Dying laughing....."people just suck".....OMG that is so spot on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wow Renee, I´m Diana from México, I´ve been following your channel maybe a year ago or more, this is one of my favorite videos ever; so eye opening. “Don’t let yourself be lazy”! I love this so much and have actually had to tell myself that before when I felt that way! You will always feel better if you just do something!! Thanks for the uplifting video!!❣️🙏
I love all these! Being a KY born girl myself, I can totally relate to all of them. Another thing I say is “people aren’t as focused on us as much as we imagine” 😅
Love this video! I have 2 favorite pieces of advice: two wrongs don’t make a right (learned that from my mom), and that you don’t have to be perfect to be successful. ❤
Omg, Renee. Yes!. That is my all time beliefs. "Actions speak louder than words". Where the mind goes energy flows...so thoughts produce energy and that energy brings action😉 And, so true when they show you who they are, believe them. 💯
This is the best video you’ve ever made! ❤

Many of these were thought provoking and needed...thank you! While I don't regularly comment, Renee, just want you to know I've been faithfully following you for several years. Interestingly, one of the food items you shared a while back was Brookside's Dark Chocolate Acai & Blueberry. It has become a staple in my pantry and love to mix in with a low fat yogurt and cashews for lunch. I never tire of it! Have a wonderful vacation and know your surgery in the weeks to come will go well! Thank you for always putting on a happy face!
Hi from Toronto Canada. I love your list and your timing is impeccable as I needed some inspiration this morning. My dad always said "paddle your own canoe" as in be responsible for yourself in life and don't depend on others. A great motto anytime but I found it particularly relevant when I was a young woman making decisions for myself with respect to education, work and relationships.

Great lessons you gave us today! Others aren't interested in us like we think they are is so true. I, like you, used to worry about what others will think but when I hit 50 I realized no one really cares! I've been telling my daughter the same thing. I think females go thru that more than men. At my old age (62..haha), I've learned whatever needs to be done will be there tomorrow so don't miss out on family time.

❤️ Loved this “Caste your cares” I try to remember this, when it is especially needed.
Great advice. I'd say I live by all of those. How proud you must have been to see that saying on your daughter's graduation cap! A sign that your kids are listening & watching when you lead by example. And yes, sometimes people suck. Exactly the reason I keep a very closed circle of friends. I choose to focus on me and my family. Having friends with a ton of baggage/drama is not for me. Come back when you have little to complain about! Someone once gave me a piece of advice that helped me to end an abusive marriage. They said, "When you're tired of eating sh*t, you'll spit it out." Advice I still live by to this day.

My daughter was so torn on deciding which college to go to.....and to study. It was a huge decision....and I encouraged her to take the risk. That risk paid off in so many wonderful ways. What wonderful advice! I will definitely have to remember that! "When you're tired of eating sh*t, you'll spit it out". Definitely words to live by. I'm one of "those" people who have always been more comfortable around animals than people. My mother swears the first word out of my mouth was "Doggie" (not "Mommy" or "Daddy"). My husband got me a sweatshirt for Christmas that says "Dogs make me happy. People, not so much". Yeah, sometimes people really suck. Dogs? Dogs almost never suck.
Refreshing to hear your life values and how they have made your life better :) Glad there are still people like you in the world!

Yes I agree, and thank you so much for this video! It's like a warm hug from a wise friend, and a nice chat about life, this is so great!!
Yes yes yes... my hubby taught me one big lesson that helps me SO much, he's soooo non judgemental and I'm like.. a protective pitbull lol he says... "NEVER TAKE ANYTHING PERSONALLY.. IT'S NEVER EVER PERSONAL". The more I thought about it.... it really sunk in... and helps me to never really be mad or stay mad at anyone... No matter who it is.. or what they do to you.. it's never personal. That helped with my road rage specifically lol
Great advice!😊
Someone one said, "He/She who sings, prays twice." What truth in that statement! Listen to a songbird. What beauty in its songs! The day music is no longer one of the biggest joys in my life, will be when Life's Breath has left me. There's a song for every emotion or feeling possible. My lifelong dream, from as early as a small child, was to be an entertainer. I am an only child, and my Parents said they KNEW I would make it in the industry, and more than a couple of wealthy people offered to back me financially, who also would introduce me to the "Powers that be," in Nashville. But, my Parents did not want an Entertainer's life for me; so the matter was closed. My dream was lost. I have sung, performed, and told jokes to, by now, thousands of people. All my life, I thought my Parents just didn't believe I could succeed, but I just learned, from them, that they KNEW I WOULD succeed, and they would loose me forever. I am now 67, and they both are 86. I regret their decision to this day, but love them dearly. So, a day with no music is a day of real tragedy for me.
Yes, yes,yes!!!

Excellent video ,love it
Thanks so much Renee for this lift up when we’re bombarded daily with just HOW BAD people SUCK. 😏 I love all of your life words to live by- especially Maya Angelou’s-when people show you who they are, believe them. That’s been with me for many many years, and YES just so true!! One I live by and can add , always look for the sliver lining in every situation-it ALWAYS EXISTS. ❤ Love ya sweet gal!!
Great words to live by Renee ❤️ l don’t have a saying for it but it’s important to not be a people pleaser to your detriment. So many of us can fall into a pattern of giving too much of ourselves and leaving the well dry for yourself. My mum always said “ look after number one first” I took that as “ oh that’s so selfish’ but l realised she meant nourish yourself, so you CAN be there for those you love.
Great advice. So happy you put in a plug for pet adoption. 🙂 My favorite piece of advice is, "Don't Take Anything Personally." It is from the book, "The Four Agreements," and it completely changed how I interact with and respond to others.
This was amazing. Wish I could have known this earlier in life
Thanks Renee! Some things are reminders and some things you said validated some of my thoughts AND some things gave me food for thought. Yes, most of your advice would have been very useful to a younger Me.
Your hair is gorgeous in this video!! Wow!
Thank you!!! I really admire you
I enjoyed this weeks vlog
What a wonderful video! There is such wisdom in every one of your 15 lessons. I hope some young people watch this. I've come to a many of the same conclusions, but it took me a really long time to get there. All the years I wasted thinking I had to please other people, pay attention to what other people thought, do what was "expected" (sometimes having to set aside my own morals and values to abide by someone else's morals and values). I can't say I achieve all these things every day ( sometimes I fail spec one of my own life lessons is this: If you're sitting in front of the fan when the organic matter hits it, say a swear word (or two) word if it makes you feel better, get up, wash your face, then sit back down in front of the fan.
Have not been watching your clips for very long . But thank you love them all.
You should do a TED talk for others to follow. Some of my life lessons would include: Be kind to others, Volunteer, Help someone who might be afraid to ask for help, Donate to charities, Live in the moment (like Maxxie and Pollux) and finally THANK A VET for the freedoms you enjoy.
Thank you Renee!! These are great points and so important! I'm always super productive with lists! I agree with you. This is a great and helpful video!
Renee, I have been watching your channel for a few months and love it so much. This was a great video and I know your mother and father were always so proud of you. In fact, I am adopting you as a daughter LOL. I lost my daughter at 14 weeks but if she had lived, I would have hoped she would have been a lot like you. I love so much about you. I need to work on a few of your life lessons, but at almost 78, I am slowing down. I'm decluttering so my two sons won't have extra stuff to dispose of. I have always had the "organize bug" so when I saw your organization video, I ordered the accordian A-Z files to replace individual files in my file cabinet. Always looking for better ideas. I need to stop watching so many KZreadrs, EXCEPT YOURS, of course :-) because I want to have the energy that I see. Part of it is I'm being lazy. Oh well, enough said.
I just love everything about you Renee!! Wish that I could’ve met you growing up!! You’re the best!!! God bless you and your family!!!❤️
