Thank you Dasha for sharing the cost of living and prices. This is something travel guides don't do well. It looks like Barcelona is an amazing place. It may be less safe than Madrid, but with some alertness I think life will be safe. It has the right mix of sunshine, nature, and city life. Plus, you can always travel to nearby countries if you want to explore. So it's a 10/10.

Is that how much they pay people to live there... ? 😅
In Spain there are more cities besides Madrid and Barcelona... Valencia, Seville, Zaragoza, Cadiz, San Sedastian, Oviedo, Logroño, La Coruña, Pamplona... and so on up to 58 major cities and 7000 smaller towns... all with a good quality of life. Trying to get to know Spain only with Barcelona is very scarce.
Thanks for the update. Barcelona is on my bucket list.
Dasha, thank you so very much! Another fantastic video. The videography is amazing. I think you are getting better with every video. Also, the important information you give (taxes, food, cultural sites, et cetera) is awesome. I hope all your gifts (example: delicious Hamon) for your family made it back to Moscow. Anyway, I appreciate your very hard work, knowledge and time. I enjoy this adventure with you immensely. I can hardly wait for the next adventure. God bless and Poka Poka!

Another great video right before you left Barcelona! I really enjoyed how you shared your life with us over the past few months. I'm glad you get to spend time with Lucky again (a dog's love is special and I'm glad you have that) and I sincerely hope you stay well back in Russia...and that things end soon to help all involved (and allow you to travel more and more). Sending best wishes from Iowa, USA. I can't wait to see what you do next and thanks again for your spectacular work! 😊

Beautiful scenery. Thank you for sharing. 😊❤
Have a few acquaintances from work that move from Barcelona to Pueto Rico before leaving to work in Central Ohio. They mentioned that there is always a free concert or movie or etc going on in Barcelona. It is a city that mostly earns its living from great weather and tourists so why not keep them happy. The cost of living or essential living costs seems at par with the Midwestern USA living but a 2 bed apartment can be as low as about $850 per month and a single as low as $650. ( efficiency apartments can go for $575 per month) The big expense in the USA is the necessity to own a car and pay for at least liability insurance for it. ( only pays for damages you cause to other people and their cars from your own bad actions ie bad driving) Of course our weather isn't as good as Barcelona as we get at least 2 snow storms a winter with anywhere from 3 to 9 inches of snow. The snow melts away but ice and glaze ice are problems throughout the winter. ( Ohio valley weather, not the Great Lakes weather) As Natasha about what I have written her about the Great Lakes weather. ( 33 cm of snow in 1 hour, 32 kph winds and -32 degrees Celsius)

Sorry you had to leave Barcelona. I truly enjoyed the tour and info you shared about your travels in beautiful Spain!!!
Taxes for freelancers in Spain start at moderate 19% if you are not earning tons of money! From an EU citizen's point of view that is not very high. BTW, Russia is known for being a tax heaven for self-employed people.
Barcelona is an amazing city, I totally understand you would like to live there.

You missed a pool on the roof? 😅 I'm a Boomer 😇 so my take on the DIE may be somewhat omnious 😂 Very good and thorough presentation on your time in Spain. Language, safety, pros and cons, insurance and health, prices, culture and people. Did you investigate what it would require for you to permanently live in Spain? Or will you visit more places before deciding? you mentioned Sydney, Australia? Very nice of you to dedicate so much of the video to answer peoples questions. It shows that you are taking us with you on your trips and taking time to find the answers for us. Thankyou 🙏 However, what made the biggest impression on me is the many stages you cleaned the apartment in to go on trips. OMG I think that was hilarious. 🤭 So happy for you to experience all these great things in Spain. May your next adventure bring you more joy and knowledge. But until then I hope you get to spend some good quality time with you family and friends

Nice summary of pros and cons and very well edited Dari. I think you did well to avoid the main tourist areas most of the time. I found Las Ramblas a bit tiresome - the overpriced tapas, endless human sculptures, and tricksters selling rubbishy gifts on the street. The beach too was a disappointment, but I guess I am just fortunate that I have much nicer beaches where I live. Of course, many of the buildings, exhibitions and museums were excellent, I must admit. Looking forward to your future travels! Stay safe.

The closest experience I had here to Barcelona is Costa Rica. I was also in Panama City, but that felt more like NYC lite and going into the old city is a tiny taste of Spain. Also, this trip worked out much better than your last trip to Barcelona when you had the bad experience.

Dari, thank you again for your honesty and for discussing the pros and the cons of your experiences in these various countries. Given the national healthcare system and state university tuition assistance in Spain and other European countries, I can see why taxes can seem like a lot. I'm not sure if local towns have their own taxes for goods and services. Comparing what they get in services to what the average U.S. citizen gets from local and federal agencies, they have a BIG advantage over Americans (again, talking about the U.S. in particular). Our healthcare, as an example, is abominably expensive and drives many into bankruptcy. Students are burdened with terrible amounts of debt after graduation from college or a university.

You returned to Russia! Anyway, there’s no perfect place or perfect country to live in. You have to balance out a variety of things, goos and bad and decide if you can live with them. Cities unlike small towns, are expensive and the only good thing to be said about them, If you like a fast paced life, easy access to transportation, walkability, good food and an abundant cultural experience, they will probably suit your needs. Too bad you had to leave Spain and yes, time flies! Dari, thanks for your review of life in Barcelona, take care and remain blessed!

Very interesting
America is much more expensive to live. Not even in a major city. On the east coast not in a major city it is at least double the prices you quoted. In a major city like NYC maybe 3 times the coast at least.
Great information, interesting! 60 Euros per month for health insurance is really cheap. I'll bet that cheap price is subsidized by the very high income taxes. So you end up paying for it one way or another.
Dari I think that you will be able to live in Ukraine after the end of the war. Kyiv looks like a beautiful city and there are many other nice cities like Odesa and Lviv. Almost everyone communicates in Russian language some of the time, and it should not be difficult for you to switch from Russian language to Ukrainian as even Zelensky had to do a few years ago. There will be a big demand for fluent English speakers during the economic reconstruction after the war.
Your video is scared me. We just want to move to Spain with my family and the tax thing is very scary…. I make income with my channel and I definitely don’t want to lose 50%
Barcelona is one of the most popular touristic destinations in the world, without any doubt. Anyway, i'm not believing that story about the okupas, the information that i have is that there is a law about abandoned property that stipulates that abandoned property (must have to be some serious time lap before it gets considered as such) can be taken by anyone if they occupy (ocupar-ocupa-okupa) that property for more than a certain time. it's not like you go out on a weekend or a vacation and you can have a bunch of okupas breaking into your home, changing locks and claiming it their own, if this was the case, nobody in Spain would go on a trip anywhere, there would be constant state of civil unrest and rioting. There's no law approving this. Good to know you have a safe place to stay in Russia. Send us some vids about Russia, and the reaction of your dog when he sees you!!😀
Даша, на счет налогов, там не один вариант. Почитай, например, про Digital Nomad Visa

Many, many Norwegians buy a apartment in Spain and when they get retaired, they live 6 months or more in Spain every year. That's how they , the old people, avoid paying the insane Spanish tax. They have their tax adress in Norway and their vacation adress in spain. The tax in spain has become insaine, It's even higher than in Norway😆

Chabad comment : "Indeed, Jewish law is known in Hebrew as halachah, which means “going,” and it accompanies you as you make your way through life, providing divine guidance for just about every situation and scenario. Some people mistakenly view halachah as a burden, an endless to-do list. Instead think about it as a series of opportunities to connect with G-d! A big fat woman tried to pick my pocket on the train in Barcelona. I had an expired train ticket stub in there. Everything else was in my sock. I told her “Bro you’ve got to try harder”. She was not pleased.
I'm baffled with people that "lived" in Barcelona ¿Spain? and have no clue what they have lived. The THINK that you have to understand about "Spain" is that is like a few different countries living "together" one side of the other. Different languages, cultures, foods,... and so and on. So, If you have lived only in Barcelona you have a glimpse of Catalonia, not "Spain". That's the real beauty of Spain, next town is more different that in most countries is the city thousands of kilometers away.

Omg your life is so hot with that Spanish music playing. Wow I am in love with that art exhibit. Luckily I would do ok with Spanish being American and having alot of practice! Outside of English that's the least scary language. I learned to read and write in Arabic in college but I speak way more spanish. I have a request! You should go to Morrocco! I really should be learning Mandarin but I am lazy I live in something that is like a rural version of that place your standing in the video. I wonder right now why I am typing this in my room and not walking outside to look at the people and ocean. It's early! Gotta drink some sweet tea and wake up! Life in the places away from huge cities is more laid back, and we get the weather and the tourists in the summer too. Lately tourists year round omg. They are taking over! Life got super expensive here now. You see nothing but 100,000 dollar cars. I joke around and say they all moved here to be with me! Everyone compares Charleston SC to Spain because alot of our buildings have the Spanish tile roofs, and we have alot of buildings and a whole downtown of buildings from the 1800s where even a former slave shack is worth 2 million dollars. So we all now rent. The taxes went up and everyone sold their land and building to escape high taxes that we're raised on them. Everyone got rich! I'm sure it is now just a slow downhill for them because they traded off their beautiful homes! They quickly built factory building apartment buildings like in Moscow here for us now! They cost 3000 a month! Isn't that ironic? Capitalism brought the same result to the people as communism did back in the day! I know! The people who did it live here in Charleston! I don't care I own land here! I'm a citizen dammit! Lol I won't sell it! Let nature take it lol
The property agencies never tell you that in Spain even with its socialist government the social security is absolutely zero. You mentioned the taxes, cost of living and also the robbers. Most of the cases the thieves are Spanish, not migrants, not Africans!!! Many Spanish are unemployed watching your property for a while and breaking in. Squatters have a right to take over your property. No right to defend yourself. Welcome to the Reality
