The title of this documentary seems wrong to me..it has little to do with the population & everything to do with immigration. It should have been titled as the vacuum immigration has created in Niger.. also another issue is there seems to be a bias with the story teller, he seems to be pushing the European agenda..not getting an independent story showing the problems on both ends.. i love documentaries, but this left a lot to be desired. I don't now why Africans mean all European countries were colonialist. Europe has 52 countries, of them maybe 5 (France, UK, The Netherlands, Belgium , Italy) had colonies or slaves from Africa, and more 2 (Spain and Portugal) had colonies in America and maybe in Africa (not sure). Rest of European countries never had any colonies or slaves or ever attack Africa, like my country (Croatia), and rest of eastern Europe, central Europe, North Europe... So no, not all whites (or even a majority) are guilt for historical or presental problems in Africa. So I think is out right to not want immigration from Africa to our countries, we just want to protect ourselves.

@j j Before European colonization we had well organized cities, empires, kingdoms etc. All the way from North Africa to Southern Africa we had our own industries etc. Many early European explorers who visited these places were Amazed by the cities, architectures and history of these places these European explorers wrote a lot of about these places and left drawings of these places before the European colonizers destroyed most of them. 'William Winwood Reade wrote The Martyrdom of Man in 1872. It is a strange but beautifully written text that attempts to show that Africa was never far from the mainstream of history. Among other things, Reade wrote an admirable summary of what Captain Clapperton and his two colleagues witnessed when they visited Kanem-Borno and Northern Nigeria: "Denham and Clapperton were astonished to find among the Negroes magnificent courts; regiments of cavalry, the horses caparisoned in silk for gala days and clad in coats of mail for war; long trains of camels laden with salt and natron and corn and cloth and cowrie shells - which form the currency - and kola nuts, which Arabs call "the coffee of the [N]egroes." They attended with wonder the gigantic fairs at which the cotton goods of Manchester, the red cloth of Saxony, double-barrelled guns, razors, tea and sugar, Nuremberg ware and writing-paper were exhibited for sale. They also found merchants who offered to cash their bills [cheques] upon houses at Tripoli; and scholars acquainted with Avicenna, Averroes, and the Greek philosophers". @j j Okay give me the sources; i have studied the work of Ibn Battuta he visited alot of places around Africa and described them in good details. The East African Coast, from Somalia to Mozambique, has ruins of well over 50 towns and cities. They flourished from the 9th century to the sixteenth centuries due to their role in the Indian Ocean trade. One of these cities was Kilwa, a former seaport on the coast of Tanzania. In the 14th century, Kilwa was a very fine place. One visitor Ibn Battuta described it as "one of the most beautiful and well constructed cities in the world".

Just give people education, things will change naturally without imposing anything! They create the difficulties by making too many kids and "leaving their future in the hands of gods", that sounds to me like a lack of responsibility. How come do we have to accept something that involves directly us, as they all run away from there and come to us. Why shouldn't we have a say in that?

Because many of their countries are not politically stable. when Lybia was destabilised, that is when Europe started seeing a huge influx of African migrants. Generally Africa is better (in terms of it being a habitable place) bcz it is warm, the land is more fertile (for food production) and less densely populated. The thing that pushes migration to that magnitude is political instability, there is also a whole lot of other political games at play.

I don’t think the rest of the world is well aware of the actions being taken here in the francophone region in the Sahara. Europe( mainly France, Belgium and the USA) are imposing its colonial taxes, and further plunging us into debt through NGO programs they call sponsorships, increasing our debts through IMF loans to sponsor foreign programs we do not even have control over, as the entire action teams come from abroad. When we have serious issues of terrorism coming from other neighbouring countries, young entrepreneurs who need incubation investments for instance. They come here tell us how to live, sell dreams of Europe , control our economic injections and then prohibit people from immigrating? Does this even make sense? Where is the basic respect or consideration of an African? We want to build our own countries with little interference as possible. Unfortunately our biggest enemy is the west! Globalisation does not need to take a western stance. It can have an eastern or even African stance. Neighbouring Nigeria is booming with economic growth, and population growth. We want to create our own opportunities here, we have no interests in Europe, Europe’s interest lie in Africa, it has always been a skewed relationship of power and colonial dominance that’s why there presence is in our structures and they never let go of it.

Europeans also stopped having lots of kinds and follow their traditions once propserity has arrived. The same happened in China (also the 1 child policy must be mentioned). However, the links between prosperity and child birth rate are indisputable. So there is no point having a one sided approach, the approach must be multifaceted. The only way these people will abandon the primitive ways of their ancestors is through abundance of opportunity and leisure time over a number of generations (50+ years)

That 8 of 52 countries in Europe. So more than 80% countries in Europe never do anything bad to Africa or African people. Interesting, Arabs had black slaves for a long time. Also, Africans were selling their people in slavery to America. So you are also not 100% clear. And also, many of our contries from eastern Europe (all of them never had colonies or slaves from Africa or any another part of world) were struggled with Turks, Arabs and Westerns. This is the same with all poor countries. If the gov want to change their country then they need to implement an educatuon system, health care and social structure. Without asking there citizens population fertility will decrease. Thats how humans are. The rich have less kids because they dont need so many.
