"Life in Fiji's Prisons."

Фильм және анимация

This video is about prisoners in Fiji and about the Fiji Yellow Ribbon project. This is a shorter version of the production I did for the SPC, Pacific Way TV programs in 2008.It's the first time a video camera was allowed inside the Fiji Maximum Security prison. There is an interview with Jo Nata an old friend of mine who unfortunately is still in prison along with Jim Silatolu after the 2000 coup. I had wanted to interview Jim along with George Speight but time did not allow us the opportunity. I hope these gentlemen will be released soon. Now that I have finally got my first Macbook, I will try to cut more clips about the Fiji situation, especially the need to return to democratic government without the continued interference of the Fiji military. Please email me for comments and feedback, Tamavaka@gmail.com. Loloma and blessings from Californa. V Nadaku.

Im Tongan and I hope Tonga and Samoa prison system should learn something from Fiji prison ministry system, they learned a lot of positive things inside the prison that they never had a chance before that to get all those skills but look at them happy also study and learn a lot of works at the same time but Tonga government is too busy think about other rubbish but not anything to benefit our own people. Vinaka Fiji

This shows what a prison is supposed to be. In the US, the prisoners are made to work for nothing. Pay them same amount and deposit it in their accounts when you use them for work cos that is the right thing to do.

Note for what!!! Criminals in USA are severely punished for their crimes, based on what crime they did... Drug abuse, murder, extortion, rape, violent crime, serial killings, etc are no excuse in USA. Many criminals in USA are skilled and also smarter than the law system.... In essence they are very advanced....

It's sad to see that learning these trades is available it prison but not in public life outside prison so that young people can benefit from it. Skill Centres should be set all over Fiji so that free people without a trade should learn and better their lives practising a trade . . !!

@Bill Koroib . . .don't believe everything the so-called "historians and linguists" tell you or try to tell you. They are in fact trying to convince anyone who's stupid enough to believe them that FIJIANS or TONGANS do not own the islands their live on, and that they are foreigners or settlers from abroad. Islands peoples evolves their on their islands, just like Europeans evolved in Europe, Africans evolved in Africa and Mongolians in Mongolia. All living things evolved where they are now existing . . as simple as that . .!!!! If Europeans are capable of starting life in Europe, why cant other races be any different and only evolve in certain other places chosen by these so-called "experts" in history and science ?????
