Life in a micro studio! From NYC apt to California Tiny Home

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Sung was paying $4500 a month for a small apartment in New York City, so when she decided to move to Santa Monica, California, she downsized into a Tiny House the size of a parking space. Now she pays only $1600 a month for rent and utilities, saving her thousands of dollars every month. While this still may seem like a lot of money per month for the space, you can't find a home more affordable in the area.

Prayers and Blessings for Miss Sung! I live in a 27' camper I converted into a toy hauler to have my motorcycle with me rather then taking trips in just one of my modes of living/LIVING. The hardest part for me was tool storage as i repair vehicles and build or remodel homes. On a motorcycle trip, being the one with tools is difficult to finish some repairs but with the camper carrying specialty tools and bigger items i can be much more capable. My greatest benefit is hooking up to the truck and driving where i want to be or where the work is. Choosing what is important is easy, letting go of the other items in life is hard unless you commit. Thank You Miss Sung for being an example. I wish all and You Miss Sung, a very Merry Christmas and a Healthy Happy New Year. With Love and Respect, You are in my prayers Hoka Hey

I loved everything about this video as Sung had nailed what exactly are the true values of living tiny. We do actually inhabit small spaces - go to any larger house and you will see massive waste and redundancy - empty rooms and few in use. In Sung's tiny house everything fits snug. She can go outside and exercise on the beach or in the gym. In her tiny space she has everything she needs. I liked the notion of creating and curating her space. Everything she did was with a purpose in mind. The design aesthetic was good too. I think that Pareto's ratio might be applied to house/home design. 80% green and 20% house or living space.

TBA $1.6k is NOT bad for SM at all, that was prices a decade ago for lousy looking places or even just a room. My place was a little bit bigger than hers but also had a (100%) outdoor kitchen- mine was covered though. Weather is so beautiful in that area, by far the most serene places I've ever called home. I live in San Diego county. Close to San Diego. But in a nice suburb of the city. It’s Poway Ca and they call it the city in the country. On given day you might see people on horse back. And many lots are zoned for livestock, but not like a lot of livestock. My friend has a horse and takes care of several ducks on her property. I truly love it here. It’s close to 30 minutes to the beach, but honestly I don’t really care. I came from rainy rainy Southwest Washington state, and I’m just loving the warm weather and sunshine. Rents are insane! I live in a double wide mobile home and it’s actually super nice. I have more room than I need at about 1400 sq feet.

For perspective - My mortgage on a 4b 2.5b home is $1,600 a month in the outskirts of HOUSTON, Tx. In a good school district - close to major freeways, 20 mins from downtown and in an area full of shopping and commercial real estate. I suppose compared to NY - this is cost effective. However, I can only imagine the cost benefits and savings she would have if she moved elsewhere - even within California. But to each their own. I would love to downsize to a tiny home in my golden years for sure.
