Scotty tips and tricks are just that. Shortcuts that do not last and very common advice. He appeals to the uninitiated and uninformed viewer. Comments like this are from someone who knows nothing about the vehicle they own. Solution: learn about how cars work and how your car/truck works specifically. Then mechanics can not "screw you". Do your research.

Scotty, I am 69 years old, and in the Army, the Drill Sgt. told us to clean the windows in the barracks. He told me to rub the windows inside with left and right strokes. The outside of the windows would get up and down strokes. The purpose was that if the streaks did show up, you could tell right away if it was inside or outside that was the problem!

I used to use that polish back in the 70s and its a dynamite product. When it says once a year they really mean it. It works but I never put it on a windshield. I will now. Thank you. If it reduces friction that much, it must also contribute to the longevity of the blades.

Just did this to three windshields. So far the only drawback is that the chips on the windshields are now more visible since they have been filled up with the polish, and now look like white spots. Wiper arms were still noisy, but spraying some WD-40 on the wiper arm springs helped.

I have found that spraying the windshield with window cleaner then scraping it while wet with a razor removes all of the road grime and film that wiping alone will not remove. Then I use the paper towel to apply the Nu Finish polish. I also use WD 40 to remove grime from the wiper blades if the blades aren’t cracked or chipped. This has worked very well for me and seems to last much longer than merely wiping the windshield with a window cleaner. I think it extends the blade life also because the blade glides over the windshield with very little friction.

This tip is amazing. Tried it yesterday,, because hate how much my new wipers squeak against the glass. It worked. Morning dew wiped right off and the defogger worked better too Currently raining and the windshield looks great and water slides right off.

A wax covers, treats, and fills micro fissures in a surface. Nu Finish isn't a *natural* (carnauba) wax, but it's definitely a synthetic wax or a "cleaner wax" as it has some very very mild abrasive properties also. You've demonstrated an interesting use for it... I wonder if Rain-X would also cut down on wiper chatter.

Thank you so much. Being a State Trooper in Minnesota, it sucks being out in the middle of nowhere and having to wait for backup or help, like a tow. I work narcotics a lot; and being a female only 5’1” and 145lbs, can put me at risk. I am pretty cool and know everyone deserves as many chances it takes. You have “schooled” me and some amazing things! At least I know I don’t need blinker fluid, hahaha. Thank you so much. Also anyone in MN don’t worry I am a very easy going cop. I don’t want to arrest anyone, just want everyone to be safe. So, if you get pulled over by me and something wrong I will let you sleep it off and stay with you as long as it takes. Thanks again!

Nice video, as usual, Scotty. My regimen is first of all rub the dry glass with OOOO grade steel wool, secondly, steam clean the windscreen, thirdly, dry off with a quality microfibre. Then you can add something like your recommended polish. Then steel wool gets all the rough bits off, the steam gets the fumes off and you can, if you wish leave it at that, oh, don’t forget to clean the wiper blades, or add a finishing product.
