Het is al een paar jaar een drom van mij om tram bestuurder te worden en uw uitleg is fantastisch blijf zo voort gaan!

Greetings from the west coast of Canada. Three years ago I was in Antwerp with my son who was presenting at a conference at the university. While he worked, I got to travel around your beautiful city and this series just brings back great memories. Wish I'd gone further out on the tram lines, as I mainly stayed in the city centre. Thank you for this great series.

Hi Ed, I'm happy to read you had a good time in our city. I can tell you there are a lot of new things in our city, so a lot is changed and is changing. I am glad I can show you some of it in my video's. Your beautiful country Canada is also on my bucket list to visit someday. There are some city's over there with also an amazing tram network. So hopefully someday I can travel to your country. Thank you for watching my video and beautiful comment, I appreciate it very much.

Lang geleden dat ik deze video heb gezien, blijft nog steeds leuk om te zien! Ook grappig, het verschil tussen de trams in Nederland en België. Met name de spoorwijdten: wij in Nederland rijden op normaalspoor, jullie in Antwerpen op smalspoor. Leuk om te zien!

Leuk om te zien hoe het er bij jullie aan toe gaat. Zijn een hoop gelijkenissen! ;)

Hi! Please explain how the computer (Retibo or something) works. I would love to see a whole in-depth showcase of that. Also, can you explain how the job is with colleagues (do you make friends there, how is the communication between colleagues, ...) Thanks!

Hi there! I would like to explain the Retibo system to you, but I don't know that I am allowed to do that. So I'm gonna ask it first before I get into trouble. And I will make a video about the understanding and communication between colleagues ☺️

Thank you 😊! There will be one more part with day 3 and 4 in it. On request from some people in my own country and the Netherlands, i also going to make a video in Dutch. Sadly enough i don’t drive very often a pcc tram anymore 😓. On my tramline it’s not allowed to use pcc trams. And i am a regular driver on tram line 1. But the PCC trams are, in my opinion, still the best trams ever build.

@@tramfan509 Please stay at english language so I can understand what you're talking about, it's interesting. Don't you want to choose a tram line as regular where PCCs are still running? :-D

@@r_envoyage7793 Don't worry, I'm gonna make more video's and most of them will be in English. But i also going to make a few video's in Dutch, but there will be subtitles available in the video 😄. Ofcourse it would be nice to ride on a tram line with only PCC trams on it, but if you choose a tram line to be a regular driver on, you take many things in consideration, like the distance from your home to work, is it a fun line to do..... . And line 1 is for me the ideal tram line so..... I try to get a PCC tram on it but they won't let me 😂😂

Lijkt me een chil en toffe job als ik eerlijk moet zijn. Zit in m'n laatste jaar middelbaar en ben zeer geïnteresseerd in spoorvervoer, trein of trambestuurder zie ik meer zitten dan verder studeren. Zoudt u het aanraden? Natuurlijk heb je die mensen die zeggen dat je gewoon moet verderstuderen, maar ik wil mijn passie volgen, en raad krijgen van iemand die het professioneel doet zal me vaststellen. En moet je voor trambestuurder je rijbewijs hebben? Rijexamen op maandag, dus wens me succes. Voor busschauffeur moet je 1 jaar je rijbewijs in hand hebben, zo ver weet ik.

Sorry dat ik het nu pas lees 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️! Nu…..als ik het vanuit mijn perspectief bekijk zou ik het aanraden, vanuit het perspectief van een beginnende chauffeur ben ik momenteel een pak voorzichtiger dan 8 jaar geleden. Dit alles heeft te maken met de grote veranderingen binnen het bedrijf de laatste 8 jaar en de gevolgen daarvan. Op zich is tram rijden een prachtige job waar je heel fier op mag zijn maar het huidige klimaat is explosief. Nu aan de andere kant kan je altijd proberen en zien of het voor jou is. Je bent nog op een leeftijd dat je alle richtingen uit kan. Voor een tram te besturen heb je inderdaad een rijbewijs nodig en minimum 20 jaar zijn. Verder een bewijs van goed gedrag en zeden. Dan zijn er de toelatingsexamens die je moet doen en blijkbaar ook selectiegesprekken! Daarna komt er nog een medische keuring. Als dat allemaal gelukt is begint je opleiding die 6 weken duurt. Tramrijden kan chill zijn maar ook wreed stressie!! Als je al lang tram rijd zoals ik zit je natuurlijk al veel ontdspannender op je voertuig dan een beginnende chauffeur.

Thank you very much for the viewing and kind comments. I drive all tram types who are in service. That are PCC, Siemens and Flexity2. The only one i’m not allowed to drive is the PCC from Ghent 😥. Absurd knowing that they are almost the same as our PCC trams but hey......there are worst things in life than that 😅

@@tramfan509 Hahaha! Well, I'm glad that in Antwerp the tram tracks are separate from the road and you have good drivers. In Eastern Europe, there are a lot of idiot drivers that drive in front of the tram.
