Beatles did use this console on the very earliest recordings. It was replaced by 1964 with a newer desk that they used on Help and later. This desk uses V72S amps and the later ones had Redd.47 amps throughout.

There are a lot of "holy grail" pieces of Beatle history, and this desk has to be right up there with Paul's Hoffner. That desk gave us the sound of I Saw Her Standing There, Please Please Me, Love Me Do, and Twist and Shout. I don't know if it should be under a care taker or in the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame or in the Smithsonian.

yep, the holy grail is just a cup, but because Jesus drank from it it became holy. This is just an old bit of electronics that probably has noise, muddy top end and slow transients but because the Beatles played through it...it is a relic. I prefer to celebrate people than collect the cups they drank out of, but I am also glad everyone isn't like me.

No!, it give so much old tube mixer from begining of recording history to the end of 60s!, look some 50s mixer, thay are great, also was the first 8 track tube recorder build in 1957!!! And 4track tube was used from end 50s to end 60s (studer, telefunken) and 3track on 50s on ampex!. So it gave some beautyful tube gear from the 50s and 60s! Its only famous mixer becouse it was used for some beatles records, thats it! Sure, its a nice tube mixer, but i would buy it becouse its self (tube mixer) and not becouse beatles have also recorded about them, as some other that do! I am reminded recently of when I bought 'Deep Purple In Rock'. Sydney Bechet was featured in the large record shop in Coventry, but the 'Rock album cover was displayed on every vertical surface including the stairwell. Guess who I listen to most now. ps When I was 14 or 15 I had no idea who Bechet was.

Many thanks for this. I always thought that, great as it is, the guitars on 'Abbey Road' would have sounded fantastic going through this, rather than the too-delicate-sounding TG12345 board/desk/console. Apparently that frustrated John and George, too, and they asked if they could get the most recent REDD back (the one after this one, I think), but were told they could not. I think that Lenny Kravitz sold this REDD, somewhere in 2017. Clearly it should be residing in my (as yet non-existent)-because-it-is-all-too-expensive) Beatles collection.

I'd be happy with a desk like that, I don.t record my music with a band any way but live off the floor so I get that live energy instead of sterilizing the music trying to get it "perfect". Live shows are great partly because of those little inconsistencies. That plus I love the sound of valve gear, maybe someday I'll be able to get something like a Tree Audio console since I can't imagine I'll ever get that one. They do make quite a difference on your hydro bill though, it' scary! Nice to see that still being used to make music though, sure did stand the test of time like the Fairchild 670 etc. I wonder if the developers even considered that their designs would last as long as they did?

It was used on Let It Be because John Lennon's friend Magic Alex blew about £5 million (in today's money) building a non-existent 72 track studio and a quick fix was needed when the Beatles were recording in Apple studios.

@Exclusive Haunted The only trick 'Magic' Alex could do was make other people's money disappear. That that con-man could have gotten _any_ access to them, let alone money from them provides a clue to how poorly the band was managed. Brian Epstein was far from perfect (e.g. NEMS/Northern Songs), but they trusted him which allowed them to focus on what they did best -- make music. When Epstein died in August 1967 and they decided to manage themselves it was the beginning of the end. The following month they set up Fiftyshapes Ltd. to fund his 'inventions' and it was just one of many rat-holes down which they poured their profits.

Was it a German ad? Not Danish or Swedish where Konsolen is console. Maybe the ad was poorly translated to English. Besides, he is recalling an ad from over 30 years ago.

Because the new console installed at the Apple Studio failed to work in time for the 'Get Back' sessions, so it was ripped out. EMI saved the day by donating two desks to Apple because Abbey Road no longer used valve desks at that point (Jan 1969). They needed two because they were using a new 3M Studer 8-Track for recording.

I would wire my guitar through this and master out to my iPad Mini. Over time, there would be 6-7 mics and some ladies singing gospel tunes coming over during the weekends. The sold productions should cover the electricity bill.

Thats only a "i will have mixer" becouse beatle have recorded over it, but i would buy it becouse it is a 60s tube mixer and not becouse beatles have used it (and other bands). And i think i would not pay much monay only becouse that beatles hype!, no! ...than i can buy a other tube mixer from 50s/60s for less money, thay sound ALL graet! ...i dount understand (and im a musican) that beatles hype! ...tahts it!
