The problem with the parry window is that it can be shorter than 8 frames if you don’t hold the parry for the full 8 frames, so if you’re *too* precise it can actually make the game harder, all presses should have the full 8 frames no matter what. I think that’s what most people have issues with, we’re used to sekiro deflect where the button press is a consistently timed parry where this game it’s also input dependent which feels very weird

Great run! Hoping for a "all special ergo" route or something at some point. Just because the optional last fight is sooo cool! Possibly also a "no summon" speedrun would be great

Awesome run, cant wait to see how it evolves. Charged L2s shred Parade Master, you could maybe save a few sec there. Cant see your dmg numbers in 360p. Or for swag, you can spam L2 while walking towards Gemini to save a sec or two. Might as well use it up before you get puppet string.

Should be fixed soon hopefully, sorry for the delay. I underestimated how long I should let it process before scheduling the publish time.

8 frames feels a lot better at 30fps. I found this out in the demo. The parry is way easier when the game is locked to 30

Its a brutal game to be sure, i would argue that the ds games and sekiro and bloodbourne are actual fair this game is very unfair when it comes to scaleing and blocking and parrying but it is a fun game none the less. Also fuck the green monster worst boss in the entire game

at roughly 17:40 when you leveled up, is it just me or did you not use the boss ergos? if not, is it on purpose or did you forget? 10k ergo is a lot of levels

I saved them to buy more throwables in the Malum district. The route isn't completely optimized yet, so where we spend our ergo might change in the future.

This is impressive but I can’t wait until someone beats it in under an hour or even half hour cuz it’s gonna happen at some point once more skips and glitches are discovered

Finally a full game video where the player uses specters. Too much players thinks, that soloing the soulslike bosses is something like a status symbol ("I can do it the hard way, summoning is for weaks..") They are so boring. This is like a breath of fresh air. Using everything given by the devs to overcome them fast. The logical, realistic way of facing challenges instead of the flamboyant way.

We can't skip door guardian, that's required, but there was a skip right after Door guardian that I could have done. You can see it in the new world record that I just posted. You can skip the black cat fight as long as you give them a fruit right after Victor, then you give him another fruit when he confronts you. This allows you to also give a fruit to red fox later, and skip her as well.

On PC, it requires limiting your FPS to 30. If you can't do that on PS5, then it's probably not possible.

If the block window is 8 frames, then would it be better to play the game at 30fps instead of 60fps so you have more time? Or does the game reduce it to 4 frames if you play at 30?

changing the framerate doesn't change the parry window. when people talk about parry window in terms of frames they're usually referring to 60fps. switching to 30fps would give you half as many parry frames

Game internally runs in the loop. The calculation cycle frequency doesn't change, it's only rendering of graphics that change when you tune fps up or down. If that makes sense. this statement is valid for any game, especially online game.

its not parry... you need a Fable handle to do parry in this game. What he did was a Perfect Guard and what perfect guard does is build up the stagger meter for enemies that turn them "groggy" so you can do severe damage to them. So to answer your question, you get rewarded that you don't lose health with a perfect guard and the enemy gets staggered more easily. Especially handy with enemies that have multiple combo's as perfect guarding through those will give you a stagger almost instantly.

It’s an any% speedrun there is literally no reason they would be disallowed, you don’t see summons often in the speedruns of other souls games mainly because they just aren’t useful.
